    Haven't read what I am sure great posts. Alcala has electric stuff. Think our MOY has to remember these games are 2.5 games per game. Actually at this point it could be argued greater. Would have preferred less trust in a struggling Rogers... Dick is the curse of death BTW just ask Dobby....

    What is the Twins need? I think we all agree hitting (although maybe the biggest issue compared to where we were last year) will not be as much of a problem 20 games from now. This team will hit. Starting pitching will be what everyone wants. Plus a proven, not injured front line starter. No more bullpen games. The problem is everyone wants that. I agree with Chief. There will be some. The price will be insane. This is not the year, as I just don't think we will get someone for the value we need to be at (even greatly overpaying). We need to hope that Hill, Odo, and Bailey can be healthy until the big guy comes back. Even then it's a crap shoot. I still have no clue. This is all so weird.

    No time to panic, but doffing11, is not to far off. My many Twins friends who watch obsessively like the rest of us, are wondering if who we pitch and when is confusing. We will sacrifice the non proven guys for multiple innings, but not the quality guys. It's a 60 game season. Every game is 2.5 of a game. It's complicated and I'm mot sure what the right answer is, but sacrificing AAA players with this line up (Twins), we should not be out of any game, it's worth questioning,

    I agree with Danchat. Wow how tight is the baseball this year? Rosario barely tapped a ball to left center and we all thought might be a fly ball to left center. It carried to the wall for a double. That was the weakest double in the gap I might have ever seen. I know the left fielder was struggling, and then gut pulled, but man that ball carried. I fear for the pitchers. I think MLB wants offense....

    I cannot explain both how awesome it was to have a actual regular season game on tv, while understanding for the first time in baseball history every game is a sprint not a marathon. I am happy to have baseball, but am terrified how our collective community will freak out more during each game, because the weight of each game is actually real. For baseball. Want to enjoy the win, which I have, but also, feel like we have to win every series right? It's kind of stressful in a whole new way. Win twins!!!!

    Here is the deal, Buck should be the key to our future. We all want this. Unfortunately, telling us to not give up to him is not fair. Telling us to do anything is weird. This whole site is based on stats and facts. When he plays the twins are better, when he doesn't play we are not quite as good. So he is injured a ton, that would suggest we should be worried and be close to giving up. I want him to be relevant, but based on his past we are allowed to not be 100% believers. I will believe when he plays, a lot.

    Being from Waseca, we did not ever want to be known for Calvin's comments. Terrible and reprehensible. Yet every few years we are reminded about this. I agree with all that Rodney, who was my favorite player as a kid, said and still shows class even though those statements crushed him from a man he respected, Just shows his character. I don't have to make high level decisions like the Twins made. But I think their decision was the correct one to make. I am proud of them for that, despite some of the positives that Calvin might have done. Win Twins.

    A reminder my favorite twin finished 2nd in the MVP balloting that year to Willie Hernandez, Detroit's World Series winning relief pitcher. He was and is an underrated player..

    I would have liked to have seen a bit more detail. First Duffey was not good early in 2019, then he became amazing. How were Rogers splits? I know he is great but that should factor. W so many right handed batters we should know. I know it's an age old argument (well from the early 2000's until now), if we have the bullets, shouldn't the best pitcher pitch the highest leverage situation? Always lots of debate on this. I think we need a little more of Duffey pitching to trust him super late...I do think he has turned the corner but we have to make sure he is real, not a lot of detail but if a reliever is going strong, ride them. As always.

    I think this is a great exercise, thanks. I will say to think Duffy would be a closer somewhere else, even an expansion team is kinda silly. Like you I think he has figured it out and could be really good moving forward, but besides his first starts way early and his late charge in the bullpen last year he has been nondescript. I think Little has way more upside. Albeit a smaller resume. Still good stuff.

    I take the over on the first 3 due to history, age, and again age. I will take the under on the last two. Not convinced Maeda is Cy material but he does have talent and great splits against righys, so that is low odds, and I think Garver is in his prime and will crush, so under on the last two.

    I would say the list is pretty good. They try to use multiple items to measure it. Fisk's walk off was iconic visually with the waving, more so than Pucks. I'll take Kirby's though. Hard for me since I was 6 when Fisk hit his and in college in 91 Twins/Cards, pretty small market WS, Cardinals missing their most potent bat, Twins kind of a one trick pony. Games, some of them, were just not compelling enough for those people outside of MN and St. Louis. I am fine where that is. Fun to revisit. Good effort.

    I think this list is probably correct. I would like to see the next 5. Guessing Morneau, Hrbek, Knobby, then I guess it gets muddled as you have to weigh in years of service (Torii) vs. very good short runs (like Bostock, Mack, Hisel). Probably a good debate.

    Gordon has not been elite for years...Grossman was terrible out there. If he improved that much, good for him. Gives me hope for Eddie.

    The fact that it was Graterol they traded and not one of our other two top prospect pitchers, tells me plenty what the Twins thought they had. Also tells me there is zero market for Eddie

    MLB network was stating that Maeda has pitched well in the playoffs. I find it interesting that people believe a prospect, very good prospect, was going to fetch a #2 or #1. When has that happened for an unproven talent? Could Graterol end up being great? Sure. But the odds are against him. Seeing all the ridiculous trade ideas on this site, I feel that many are not based in reality. Do I love the trade, no. Do I like it? Absolutely.

    It's good to see this article. We have been in pat ourselves on the back mode, and deservedly so, as we finally made a free agent splash. I still think good pitching beats good hitting, and Cleveland has that in spades. Do I think they are the favorites? No, not sure. But to assume it's clear cut the Twins is silly. The first two months count, and my my recollection we are way short on starting pitching. I like our bullpen though. it will be interesting to say the least, but as long as they have Lindor and Ramirez, they are big threats, from star power offensively, and of course their starters are elite. Should be fun!!!

    Lots of assumptions here, that we will cruise to a division title. ESPN had an article where 2 of the 3 sports writers still had Cleveland as the favorites, even though we signed Donaldson. Carasco is back, Clevenger is only going to be better, and they are loaded with starting pitching (assuming they do not trade Lindor as well). Also, Chicago will be better, and with a few jumps from the young kids can compete as well. Division will not be quite as easy as last year. That's a scary thought. Wins and losses count in April/May, so waiting for two of our starters is a big deal. My point is, there are no guarantees. The Twins have a roster to compete for division titles. They do not have a roster to compete for a World Series title, specifically starting pitching. I do not think they have enough bankable starting pitching. Their work is not done, and if we wait until the trade deadline, we could be 5 games out (or more), when we make a deal. Always hard to make up ground late in the season. The Twins reached up for the stars and got one guy via free agency. Good stuff. However, continue to be aggressive and try to get a front line pitcher. Hard to make a deal for a front line pitcher, especially a controllable one, but we have tons of assets. Now is not the time to stock pile. Hopefully there are some willing partners if the price is right. I would've given Rui a 4th year without blinking. We did it for Donaldson and they are similar in age. Just saying.

    Bottom line, it's just a fair deal for both sides, even if he does not become the star we all thought he wold be. He's with us for 3 years at least, and at 31 with his defensive limitations, at the end of his deal.., I think it's a big win.
