  1. Still not convinced that Slegers should be getting MLB starts...It's incredible these base running blunders keep happening. This one was really, really bad considering the situation.
  2. I mostly agree with the overall take of the article. My rational is this. Gibby was a bad, very bad starting pitcher for the twins over the course of his Career. Since last August, he has been good, at times very good. That is 5 months. I guess the real question is do we think that this will continue? I am very skeptical that it will. He hasn't been tremendous lately. Of course I would hate to trade him and be wrong, but I would be even more upset if we kept him on a 3 year deal as some suggest and he regresses to where he has been most of his career. It's a tough call, but I would at least see what we can get.
  3. Wonder if they will move Stewart to the bullpen? We here at TD have given him a long leash, as we should, being a high #1, but he's been mostly a bust. Curious as to the move. Can't hurt but I'll be shocked if he ever sees MLB as a starter.
  4. Was it really suspenseful when Dozier was up in a clutch situation? Gleemans tweets have shown how dreadful he has been in high leverage situations. Ugh. This lineup stinks. I've been preaching wait till the ASB before the negative talk, but even with our recent success against good teams, do we think this team is ready to break out? they certainly do not know how to run the bases. That's actually part of playing baseball.
  5. Good to see gonzo struggle and fight threw it. Is it me or is our AAA team almost as bat at hitting as the big club?
  6. Have we not seen what our best relievers are doing in Rochester? The guys with MLB experience? Are you kidding me? Enough, bring em up and stop abusing Pressley.
  7. Per Gleeman Ryan Pressly has now pitched in 37 of the Twins' first 71 games. Mike Marshall in 1979 is the only right-handed pitcher in Twins history to make more appearances in the first 71 games of a season. Also of note: Pressly has allowed multiple runs in four of his last seven outings. Molly has got to stop with this.
  8. Were not both their errors by Lindor? I am sure he will survive.
  9. "If the Twins win today they can still have a 3-3 road trip by only winning 1 in Cleveland which is ok. As long as they can hang around the .500 mark into the all star break the season is salvageable. Getting Polanco back and hopefully Santana in some decent form will make a difference." I have to disagree mildly here. Being .500 around the ASB really puts us in position for what? The only playoff spot is the division, and I expect Cleveland to be about 10 games over .500 by then. It's just too much for a flawed team like this to overcome. If our c-MVPs turn back into pumpkins, we are in some real, real trouble.
  10. per gleeman: Brian Dozier in "close and late" spots: 2014 - .177 AVG 2015 - .229 AVG 2016 - .177 AVG 2017 - .176 AVG 2018 - .159 AVG Career - .195 AVG Not only is his .195 AVG the worst in Twins history, it's the worst in MLB history among all players with at least as many plate appearances. We know he will get hot sooner or later, but we keep talking about Sano and Buxton torpedoing our season... This is one decision (by not signing Dozier this last off season) where I applaud the FO. Our offense is bad!!!!
  11. I think the Twins have until the ASB to make hay. If they can get consistent then all is not lost. Nick is right the pitching, starting, has been good. What we should expect. The offense has been anemic and a huge dissapointment. I would hope the FO and manager get a little more creative at SS, and our 4th outfielder and eventually catcher. Too many black holes. Cleveland's Rameriz has become a bona fide star in two years and one of the best players in MLB. They win that battle over our perceived star at that position (well we thought he was a star at this point last year).
  12. Grossman still have an option? Wouldn't mind seeing a platoon with Cave and LeMarre. Line up is still atrocious
  13. I can give Reed the benefit of the doubt, because he has a track record with heavy usage. Pressly's track record is not so good when Molly leans on him.
  14. Really well stated Nick. I think it was assumed by most that Buck would be average or better at the plate, and we were hoping that Sano would put up average numbers for him (I think most of us were not expecting him due to replicate last years first half to his recovery and getting back into baseball shape). I like me some Eddie R and Esco, but currently they are our core players... We all get aroused because Eddie is electric at times at the plate and entertaining, but let's just say his game is not..well rounded. Don't get me wrong his a big part of this team, but as you point out missing the production from what was supposed to be our biggest assets hurts and we are in trouble.
  15. Loved that Molly let him pitch the 6th, pitch count be dammed@
  16. More important for Gibby than his sinker is his breaking ball which is at a historic swing and miss rate, that is why he's been better. He's no longer a sinker ball pitcher but a strike out guy...which is the key to his success
  17. Does he have more than two pitches? An ok 3rd pitch? I worry about starters who only profile two pitches...curious it wasn't 'Gonsoves
  18. You have a chance to see what you have in Garver, so why not let him play more? You know what you have in Wilson. Which is not good.
  19. LoMo hitting slightly better and taking walks but continues not to do the little things, which is a big deal. This is a bad lineup as currently constructed. Winnable game yet again we are on the wrong end
  20. As a person who is skeptical about Gibbs's success, I am willing to give him a break as the Brew Crew feels like they are more like us last year than we are. Good young hitting team. Hopefully our bats can wake up, its been a stretch where only a few players have been consistent. I am worried about Buck
  21. Stewarts start is better, but again I am not feeling he is a legit prospect at this point. Gonsalvez is knocking at the door. In another post people are suggesting we should trade Lynn. Who would trade for him? We would literally have to pick up 10 million I would think of his contract...it's messy
  22. I think May can be a solid contributor. I don't think there is any rush. Right now we are riding a wave of a 23 year old, 22 year old, and a huge under performer who is may have figured some things out. I imagine Santana won't be ready to go in June right away either? I think things will play out by the time Santana is ready and eventually May. If our current staff continues to pitch well then we will have to think about May in the bullpen, which I am not in favor of. If anything we will have excellent depth.
  23. I a fan of Garver, as I think his bat will play well enough at the big league level. I am also not worried about his arm, as he appears to be ok there. I am concerned about the rest of his catching skills, and am hoping he can work through those. If he can get to average behind the plate and a plus bat, that will be just fine.
  24. Nobody has been more critical of Gibby than me. Although, I am not willing to say he has fully turned the corner and is ready to be a staple of the rotation, I have been impressed with his improving stats and demeanor. All very positive. I hope it continues as starting pitching depth...well assuming Lynn becomes not awful, when was the last time we had this kind of starting pitching depth?
