Gordon another donut...is it time to put him back at AA? He's still a very good prospect, but he literally cannot get a hit at AAA. All kids go through ups and downs, but his confidence has to be in a bad spot...I'm worried.
Anyone else think Nick Gordon is in trouble right now? Not only is he struggling at the plate, he's not getting deep in counts. Very few walks. Not good.
Dozier has been a great player for the twins, at a huge discount vs. his value. But the love for him has to stop after this year's contract. He's been a great player for the price. moving forward you must consider that he's been the worst hitter in twins history in close or late at bats. That's a real thing He's one of the worst in MLB history. that is also real. Maybe that is because Gardy and Molly always had him leading off, I don't know. It's time to let him go and get whatever we can. He's not the camel that stirs the straw, it's the young players and we counted on them and they have let us down this year. Time to trade a 31 year old guy. Let it go. It is what it is.
Wow, nice site! So if he's around 91 currently, how is it that we are assuming he will be affective? I think Erv has always thrown around 94. Seth I know you thought he could get by on his wiles (in another post), but I think he needs that velocity to be effective. I guess we will find out. Hope he pitches against the Royals first...Might not go so well against the BoSox.
Love your semi optimism, but as long as LoMo, Grossman, Kepler, Cave ( we will see on him), are regulars, and our hammering the few guys in the bullpen, this team cannot, I mean cannot beat average or better teams. It is time to sell.
Think about this last complete inning...we are literally (management) giving the Royals free runs and possibly the game...they pee down their legs..now we hit a few bombs. Wow, that is really deflating. Things is, Twins have been there plenty of times as well in the past.
Obviously the runner wasn't in scoring position....but who cares!!! He's up to 15HRs and .229 BA, trade him tonight if possible...don't try to squeeze out more
I am guessing, and call my cynical, that they are trying to get innings in him, hopefully scoreless to lower that ERA, for trade value? That's all I can think off, once he hit that batter. Why would you leave him in, and MOY rarely let's guys go over the 100 pitch count (Unless you are Jose and pitching a shutout).... Now under utilized RP is coming in...
Still not convinced that Slegers should be getting MLB starts...It's incredible these base running blunders keep happening. This one was really, really bad considering the situation.
I cannot understand why Wilson is getting so many starts? Are they that afraid of Garvers glove? At least Garver has a chance at the plate, and we need to find out if he's part of our future at all. Wilson is not part of our future and is batting .130
I mostly agree with the overall take of the article. My rational is this. Gibby was a bad, very bad starting pitcher for the twins over the course of his Career. Since last August, he has been good, at times very good. That is 5 months. I guess the real question is do we think that this will continue? I am very skeptical that it will. He hasn't been tremendous lately. Of course I would hate to trade him and be wrong, but I would be even more upset if we kept him on a 3 year deal as some suggest and he regresses to where he has been most of his career. It's a tough call, but I would at least see what we can get.
I thought I just read that he had a 4.42 on the strib today down at AAA...or I am confusing him with the other guy we got for Garcia...maybe it's that.
Wonder if they will move Stewart to the bullpen? We here at TD have given him a long leash, as we should, being a high #1, but he's been mostly a bust. Curious as to the move. Can't hurt but I'll be shocked if he ever sees MLB as a starter.
Was it really suspenseful when Dozier was up in a clutch situation? Gleemans tweets have shown how dreadful he has been in high leverage situations. Ugh. This lineup stinks. I've been preaching wait till the ASB before the negative talk, but even with our recent success against good teams, do we think this team is ready to break out? they certainly do not know how to run the bases. That's actually part of playing baseball.
