We will probably never know what the real reasons are, since we don't have a beat writer like Russo who will actually get in there and do the dirty work, so all we can do is go with he was not their guy. Not a big fan of Molly, but I am truly surprised he was let go. I thought Polhad's comments were somewhat telling a few days ago.

Twins Daily 2018 Awards: Most Improved
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Curious as to why you would have Rosario on this list (noticed Cody did as well)? He regressed pretty hard over the last month or two and I believe Gleeman had some stats that his swinging at pitches out of the strike zone went from low 30% to well over 50% during that time. All this before he got hurt. I would say he he established himself as a key member of this Twins team moving forward (showing that last year was not a fluke), but not a top candidate to be most improved?- 24 replies

MIN 9, DET 3: Vive La Tortuga
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How crazy is this? I am more skeptical of Austin than I am of La Tortuga. I believe that Austin is a supreme power threat, which is great, we gave up on Palka, and that is still up for debate. I am glad to have Austin next year where we can figure out the K vs. HR theory. However, the way the interviews with MOY and others the last few months have downplayed a kid who the hole team rallies around, and with few at bats, seems like at least worth a shot is fantastic. I hope he keeps befuddling the experts with his put the ball in play performance. These are the type of players, whether they are starters or not that teams rally around. I hope they take him seriously next year. I continue to hope he makes decisions hard.- 22 replies

Love Hildy, but he seems to be very streaky. Once he goes on one of these streaks maybe pitch in lower leverage situations? Molitor using him a ton. Count me as one of those who was pretty down on Stewart. Nice to see improvement from him this year and success at the MLB level. I am intruiged.

I don't post much, but read a ton. You guys all make it worth while. I was happy to lose the Ryan old regiment. The new guys have drafted really really well. However, for all the nice roster management they did last year, they have really disappointed this year. They spent a ton of money which I liked but the problem with one year deals if it goes south, then you get what we got this year. That can't help the clubhouse. Maybe they are letting the MOY have free reign, but my gut says they have blessed the Belile, Wilson, gimenez, Grossman, field, etc disaster. We've lost good talent in Shaggy and others and without other call ups besides Buck (that's its own deal), I don't understand how Anderson and reed and others are not part of this team. Color me blah...I don't know what to think.

Twins Minor League Report (9/3): Regular Season Ends
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agreed, at some point and time, prospects have to earn their way up. Gordon did not do that this year. Not at all. Disturbing year for such a high pick. He's young and can bounce back. Heck we are still trying to figure out if Polonco can play short in the field (I think the answer is becoming apparent he cannot). As an organization we better hope Lewis can stick at short.- 30 replies

Twins Daily Roundtable: Grading Molitor
rghrbek replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Are we sure Jake Cave is a 4th outfielder? I know he is not a CF'er, but right now but this year he's playing better than Kepler (yes small sample size). This is a complicated mess by all accounts. The way the MOY is managing currently is frustrating though.- 295 replies

Twins Trade Bobby Wilson To Cubs For Old Friend
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gimenez, who batted .204 at AAA is playing first base....scrap heap Fields playing left today....Wade/Buxton other young players all down in AAA. Shame -
People seem to forget Berrios struggles when brought up to MLB. They lasted over the parts of two seasons. Gonsalvez is not a high, high end prospect maybe, but he is certainly a projected back of the rotation guy that we need to pan out. The Twins desperately need some of these upper level guys to work out. He has dominated at every level, so we will need to give him a shot, as many starts as possible. Stewart on the other hand has really not done anything to deserve his shot, but I am fine with them seeing what they got in both kids. Way to early to make snap judgments IMO.

Hardball, the Twins, and Byron Buxton
rghrbek replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If he had displayed any ability to hit AAA pitching besides the last 2 plus weeks, I would agree...I agree with Roy Smalley, both Sano and Buck should play winter ball and figure it out like other mid level guys who are are close but are not really...for both guys it's all about pitch recognition...when they recognize they are really much better, throw them a slider low and away... -
Nick, I agree with you completely on this article. I couldn't have said it much better. Joe was in a slump recently and sat maybe 2 of 5 games. He has bounced back a little. That shows me that the grind is not kind to Joe. It will be interesting to see what they do with these to, and the MOY, who I feel has not been great this year.

OAK 7, MIN 1: Puckett 2,304, Mauer 2,086, Carew 2,085
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
We all love Joe, but the strip is leading a 7-1 loss glorifying hit 2086? Let the blogs glorify him, but the twins took a beating...the lead should say, twins get destroyed, Joe hits milestone. It's just words but maybe I still hate losing. -
I would trade him if we can get anything. As Parker has pointed out, he has turned into the slappiest of slap hitters. He also has an unsustainable babip, and if we have to have a stop gap waiting for prospects (Gordon has not helped himself out), then we can try and pick up someone better in the off season

DET 7, MIN 5: Stewart Bombs Second Audition
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Seth your my guy, hell your all our guys...you've been doing this so long. You're wrong here tho. The old FO f'd up. Gonzalez s/b up now...silly. The've been wrong with Stewart and then did are w Jay. Let's just say TR and his crew **** the bed. BTW they did! It's been long enough to assess. It doesn't mean the new guys are tainted with that stain. Stewart and Jay are abject failures, good dudes but common TD has to be objective. If the organization wants Stewart to be a reliever, then send him down and put him in line with our 5 guys who throw harder have better stuff and are ready -
MIN 5, DET 4: Take a Bow, Joe
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ah the great debate with Joe. Big spot, great hit, clutch. But if it were not for some questionable calls, he would be on first base, more than willingly. Best in MLB with RISP this year. Kind of sums up Joe, always a great hitter with RISP...but very willing to talk a walk with RISP too. It worked out great tonight. -
What To Do With Logan Forsythe?
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Option 2 should not be an option based off 2 weeks. Option 1 or 3 are fine with me. There is no way I want the Twins to bring him back as a starter. It's most likely Gordon will not be ready by next year at the start, so I don't mind the idea of brining someone in for a year, just not LoFo.- 100 replies

Game Thread (8/14): Twins vs. Pittsburgh, 7:10 PM CT
rghrbek replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Archived Game Threads
Is Rosie really playing rf and cave playing LF? -
LoMo has actually seemed like a decent dude. Not sure if he has contributed to the clubhouse "issues" that now have been reported and collaborated by beat writers. However....He has had the worst batting average for any twins player in our long history with over 300 at bats in a season. Landing on the DL is not only mercy for him, but for all of us.

Twins Minor League Report (8/10): Miracle Comeback
rghrbek replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There is no way in any baseball world that Stewart deserves a start at the MLB level. Especially over Gonzalves or Romero. He's been mostly a failure. I am a fan of the FO, but this year they have left me scratching my head. They have not reigned in the MOY with his bullpen usage, which is a real thing, and moves like this make no sense. None.- 26 replies

HIldy has pitched in 7 of the last 10 games I think. Also Cave has been a nice player, but the longer run he gets in center field the less I like him there, brutal first inning.

Besides the whole he'll be 36 thing, he is also throwing 88. This is from a guy who normally threw 94. It's not like this is still his spring training. He's been throwing for almost 2 months. If he cannot throw 93-94 with his fastball, his slider will be rendered meaningless. No chance the Twins keep him, none.
