  1. I have not been impressed with Berrios at all lately. Making me start to wonder about him?
  2. What are you basing Austin and Cave with?? I mean neither of them has exactly lit up the minor leagues and with the amount of MLB experience that they have is soooo limited most of the pitchers out there don't even hardly know who they are let alone have made adjustments to them. I mean Danny Santana looked really great over his first 200 to 300 at bats too? Kepler is hitting like .235? So their hitting can't exactly be proven to be better than Mauer and neither can their defense. So how are they exactly better in 200 at bats worth of MLB production?
  3. I think the Twins went after starting pitching this year, and looking at those names they will have some guys that can get through 5 innings on a regular basis, Romero, Mejia, Pineda, and Odorizzi have all proven they can get through 5 innings. Where I feel the Twins need to spend big money is in the bullpen, bring in 3 or 4 guys that have proven track records and they can play musical chairs with the rest of the BP with Rochester like every other team does. How many times this year have the the Twins had the lead or been really close only to get blown out in the last 2 or 3 innings. Look at yesterday's game with the A's for example. 2 - 1 game going into the 8th and ends up 7 - 1. Odorizzi did ok, on a team with a legit bullpen he probably has 2 or 3 more wins, as would most of the other Twins pitchers like Gibby and such. Spend on the BP, big time.
  4. Time for what? So even if you don't have anyone to replace him get rid of him anyway? You might be right that the Twins record is what it is because of a lack of talent on the team, but getting rid of one of the decent guys with no real replacement isn't probably going to make the squad any better. Forsythe has been one of the Twins best players this month?
  5. Yeah, and what was the Twins record with Tom Kelly as the manager? Apparently winning didn't mean anything to him??. For that matter, I'd like to see the Twins overall record while Kirby Puckett was on the team?
  6. This thread? So are you telling me that people don't always talk about Joe's lack of home run power at 1B? Or is that something I just made up? Bottom line is he is one of the best 25 guys on the team. When that changes then the argument changes. As long as he is one of the best 25 it will be up to Joe when he is done, when he isn't one of the best 25 then it won't be up to him anymore.
  7. There isn't 25 guys on this team that are better than him. No matter how disappointing he is to those that want him to hit 25 Hr's per year he is still one of the best players on the team.
  8. Seems like he has not pitched well at all lately, wondering if something is wrong?
  9. Interesting how the minor league teams seem to be sitting in about the same spot as the parent club?
  10. How does Odorizzi burn through so many pitches?? He only had like 2 walks and no K's?? It's just amazing how his pitch counts get so high all of the time.
  11. WTH, is one of those guys someone's nephew or something??
  12. Tommy May Day Milone pitched 7 shutout innings for Washington.
  13. Twins probably should have kept and signed Rodriguez, they then could probably bring Ivan in as a special instructor for their catchers. Too late now, but would have been a good idea??
  14. My son and I were watching baseball last night, out here on the West coast. We were tuning in to the AZ Diamondbacks to watch Escobar and then we switched over to Houston's game to watch Pressly. It was kinda funny watching those guys on other teams and we were switching away from the normal program to watch them.
  15. Logan Forsythe?? Hopefully the Twins can flip him too?
  16. If Dozier gets hot I could see him go in August, otherwise the Twins will offer him a QO and he will probably still split which the Twins will get a nice draft pick for him.
  17. How about Girardi? He took the Yankees to the final 4 last year. If he has what it takes to be a manager it might work out for both parties. The Twins over the years can't ever seem to be able to beat the Yankees, so if Girardi was to come in and beat the Yankees it would vindicate both the Twins and Giradi??
  18. I wonder if someone can post a picture of Pohlad, Falvey and Molitor in a bunker holding up a white flag?? I'm bad, I know.
  19. Hopefully the Twins can package some of these young guys for one or two guys that can actually help out next year?
  20. He's a career .230 hitter? Had some pop in the minors but hit like .230 down there too. Might as well go with Vargas?
  21. Except for the fact that Justin hit like .220 in 2003 and then hit like .230 something in 2005 back when hitting .230 was not in Vogue. Hunter called him out and told him he needed to produce, Justin figured it out, in a big way, but sticking him in there a year and a half earlier may have ended his career?? Also, Morneau was a very good fielding Firstbaseman, replacing another very good fielding Firstbaseman. Does Rooker fit that category?? I agree that he should get some PT this fall, but I wouldn't bet on him just as of yet. He's probably a couple of years out still.
  22. Problem is, like it or don't, he is out of our price range due to the fact that guys like that don't want to come to Minnesota. So if the Twins put in a bid for Machado and it equals what New York or LA puts in for him he will pick New York or LA every time. For the twins to get a guy like Machado they will have to severely out bid those other more popular teams. Not only are those other teams consistently in the hunt every year but they have more to offer all the way around. So if New York or LA offer him 20 Mill a year the Twins will have to offer 25 and add more years to get him. It's just the way it is; now that might change for a local guy, think back to Monitor, Winfield, Morris etc.... Or it may also change if the Twins can get to that point where they are consistently in the hunt for a world series title year in and year out. When that happens then guys like Machado will consider the Twins. Until then they need to rely on what they have.
  23. Yeah and that Boston record would probably be 4 - 3 in favor of the Twins had they still had Pressly in game 2 of that series. Nonetheless, it does seem weird how they have played against good teams and then they have just crumbled against the poor teams in the AL Central. Maybe they get all pumped up for Cleveland and then they go into KC and just assume they are going to win?? That's all I can think of??
