  1. I think this shows also that Rogers really should be an 8th inning guy or that guy that comes in and matches up with the other teams best lefty in a critical situation during the game. Could be 6th or 7th inning. But because he is the closer now he has to wait until the 9th. Real good closers are able to come in day after day typically, that's why they are given the 9th all of the time. So it would be nice if the Twins can develop a closer and move Rogers back to 8th inning or whenever he is needed type of guy. Also that would probably save Rogers a little as he wouldn't have to get 5 outs ever, he could come in and get 1 - 3 outs and be done and probably save some wear and tear on him.
  2. I like what Levine and Falvey have done with some of their off - season signings not getting too overly committed to one guy etc.... However, I'd say its rather rash to say they are the best things to happen to the twins ever. I mean I think they still have a little ways to go to surpass Andy Macphail. Obviously everyone is irritated that they didn't add a better piece or two to the pitching staff at the deadline, however, neither did the Yankees? So maybe with the new deadline this year maybe some teams just weren't that willing to move people. So all of the balme can't be pinned on them either. It's a work in progress, no one will ever be able to be fully evaluated until their tenure is actually over. We can react to this and that in the short term, but long term they could end up being the best ever or the worst ever. We have to wait and see and cheer along the way.
  3. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-3154/triamterene-hydrochlorothiazide-oral/details Seems to me that if he has high blood pressure that some doctor prescribed it for him?? If he doesn't have high blood pressure then that becomes more of a problem.
  4. I wonder why its only 60? I thought the first time ban was 80? or am I mistaken?? On a side note, it should make him a little bit easier to re-sign??
  5. Id say that they will have to wait and see if Gibby can recover from his latest setback. Maybe the right medication puts him back into an energized starter that can go 7+ like last year. If not then I'd be very leery of him. Odo and Pineda I feel are both candidates for the QO. At least the Twins would get something for them if they choose to go elsewhere.
  6. Yeah there was little movement at the deadline by all teams including the Yankees. I'll get back to them in a second. I wonder if MLB thought getting rid of the Aug 31 waiver deadline was going to stimulate the actual July 31 deadline?? I think it actually slowed down all trades in my opinion because no one really knew if they were a player or not on July 31st. Just my thoughts. Yes the Yankees did not make any moves for a starter on July 31st, but they also have a guy like Severino, sitting on the IL that was projected and maybe still could come back and end up in the rotation. Not real likely right now but on July 31st it was a real possibility. Also with their bullpen they are still in way better shape than the Twins on paper because their bulpen is less in flux and on paper is better. So yeah many of the teams weren't sure where they sat in July and some of those teams even then knew they probably had some other options on the way, a la Severino.
  7. Yeah the Yankees are only 9 HR's behind the Twins, however, the Yankees have also played 3 more games than the Twins. So you are really looking at the Yankees are probably realistically conservatively about 12 HR's behind?
  8. I think Austin has a little bit more versatility in the American league where he can DH when needed?
  9. I think the last few years Berrios has dropped off a bit at the end of the year. I could be wrong but that seems to resonate with me. Nonetheless, at this point though, the Twins need to throw their best out there against the Sox and Royals, because those games are must win games. The indians won all of their games agianst those teams. Now doing a 6 man rotation for a few weeks might work, because then at least you have your best guys going all of the time just has 6 days off instead of 5??
  10. Hoping to see some more Cruz Missiles!!!
  11. I think sometimes when a person is as naturally gifted as a professional athlete that when they were younger it didn't matter how they held the bat, they smashed no matter what, so people would probably be a little reluctant to fix something when he was killing the ball all over the place. Now when he wasn't doing well then they went to the fix.
  12. The adjustments gets his bat through the zone faster, he already hit well middle away, it was the upper fastballs and the ones inside that got him. So if he can hit those, then if they go back to pitching him middle away then that is sort of pitching into his strength. The only way would be to throw more off speed stuff, of which, lately, he has been laying off of.
  13. Yeah I make way more than that. Do you?
  14. Not that this matters, but I just looked it up on Google, and official scorekeepers make 150 dollars per game? I kinda figured MLB would do them a little better than that?
  15. Dyson at one point in time pitched in Texas. Texas scorekeeper was making the decisions??? IDK but it just happens that way
  16. Cleveland was smart with their deadline deals. Now imagine if Franmil starts hitting too??
  17. Someone somewhere also probably said a few years back that Nelson Cruz has lost a step too. I find it difficult to replace a guy who has been doing it at the Major league level with some guys who project out to be Major league players. Eddie is a really good player and you're just not going to replace him with some guy who has never played at the MLB level as of this point in time. Now on the other hand, if when guys like Buxton go down with injuries the Twins were to bring one of those guys up instead of wade and Cave then they would be able to see if they can replace them.
  18. Yeah the first game in Miami I couldn't hardly blame Dyson as he just got off the plane it seemed like. But I just hope these first couple of outings don't affect him mentally. I hope he bounces back quickly.
  19. Not a great run by Dyson so far??
  20. The Yankees will probably get a #1 starter by about Sept 15th in Severino. The Twins don't have anyone like that lurking around about to do a rehab assignment.
  21. I wonder if some of the GM's don't particularly care for Falvey and Levine? You know it's possible, maybe not likely, but possible that this is still a good ole boys club and maybe some of these GM's don't deal fairly with the Twins GM's. I know the Twins were deep into the conversation with Toronto for Stroman, to me it's weird that the Mets got Stroman for very little? Like where Toronto might have wanted some crazy sum of parts from the Twins but gave him to the Mets for what seems like not much? Seems like every off season these guys have been left behind by all of the super signings even though they have been very much in the conversation with all of the players? I'm just wondering if these guys just aren't part of the group? So we end up with guys like Nelson Cruz who is 39, but is having an amazing season and other moves similar to that? I know it sounds terrible, but I'm just wondering?
  22. The Mets are obviously a flawed team, so they will need to do a lot of work this off season to become a real contender. But if they do that then at least they have the rotation?
  23. I could be wrong, but don't the Mets just lose Wheeler at the end of the season? So they might as well get something for him right? They can't really be in the demanding position that they were in with Syndergaard? Right?
  24. I think many of the prospects mean very little to the Twins especially with the core they have at this point in time. Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Rosario, Sano, Garver, etc... There really isn't a lot of space on this team for position players in the minors. In my opinion many of those prospects should be worth more to other teams than they are to the Twins. Use them or eventually lose them anyway?? Go out and get a couple of relievers and or a starter and a reliever, etc....
