HOU 5, MIN 2: Rough Opener, Strong Stewart Homecoming
pbrezeasap replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Definitely, I'm headed to Minnesota on Saturday for the Vikings game and the first couple Twins-Yankees games and was planning on going to the Gophers football game on Saturday night, but now that Berrios is pitching I'll be going to the Twins game instead.- 55 replies

1.) Where are you from? I'm from Nowhere (stole that from a Wretch Like Me song). Dad was in Air Force so was born in Big Spring, TX then have spent time in Perham, MN, Grand Forks, ND, Merced, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Amarillo, TX, Los Alamos, NM and now back to Amarillo, TX. Parents are from Perham and Wadena, so them and my other extended family that still live in MN made me a Twins fan. 2.) Age Range? 45 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? Star Tribune 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Never played organized baseball, still playing slow pitch softball 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? Kirby Puckett/Gary Gaetti, Brad Radke, and Maximilian Kepler. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? I guess the Trade Rumors sites 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? No 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. My kids, music, golf, bowling, brewing beer, drinking beer, and sometimes tearing apart cars for no good reason. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... forums, blogs, articles, topics... wahtever you like. I like most everything, but I guess favorites are the game recaps, Twins and minor league teams. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? Can't think of any 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?" No, but I would like to, hopefully a trip to MN will coincide with one at some point

Did you ever get a baseball at a Twins game?
pbrezeasap replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I've never got one at an MLB game, but I caught a foul ball at an Albuquerque Isotopes game once. My middle son caught a Denard Span batting practice HR in Arlington and my youngest son had a ball thrown to him by Trevor Plouffe. We still have those and they got them signed by a bunch of players, but not Span or Plouffe. It was usually by all the bullpen guys who seemed to be the ones signing stuff. -
Cold Front: Breaking Down The First Twins Homestand
pbrezeasap replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You must of had some bad luck, I've travelled to watch probably more than 100 baseball games in various places and have sat through a couple rain delays, but never had one postponed. Ironically, the only sporting event I didn't get to see was when I took my oldest son to see the Vikings for his 16th birthday and the dome collapsed. -

Game Thread: Twins vs. White Sox 12:10pm CDT 8/31/2017
pbrezeasap replied to sampleSizeOfOne's topic in Archived Game Threads
I think their stadium personnel had checked out last week also, Nik Turley could have been an identical twin to Zack Granite by looking at the picture on the jumbotron during the first game of the doubleheader and the season averages posted on the scoreboards varied widely from at-bat to at-bat, Buxton was hitting in the 150s during one at-bat and Mauer was in the 240s for one of his. -
Amarillo, where I currently live, is getting the San Antonio AA team in 2019 and their contract with the Padres ends in 2018. I would love to get to see Twins prospects coming through here, but then again I'm not sure I would like it if a bunch of people around here turned into Twins fans, I kind of like being one of only a handful in the area.

It's OK To Get Excited Again, Twins Fans!
pbrezeasap replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
But 85 wins has been enough to win a division a few times in the last decade. The Indians play teams with a 0.500 record or better the rest of the month while the Twins get a bunch of games against the White Sox, Tigers, and Blue Jays, so I would hope they can pick up at least a few games and make September really fun. To heck with the second wild card, go take the division!- 59 replies

Game Thread: Brewers @ Twins, 8/8 @ 7:10 CT
pbrezeasap replied to Danchat's topic in Archived Game Threads
That was a fun quiz. I missed Duffey, Milone, and Pressly, although I typed his name as Pressley and it didn't show up. Only reason I got Centeno was I just saw a highlight of him getting a game winning hit for the Astros a couple days ago, so I guessed his name and got lucky.- 148 replies

A (Twins) Territory Divided
pbrezeasap replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
According to BR Twins are 13-21 in blowouts (5+ runs) with 199 RS and 271 RA, so 35-25 and 229 RS vs 218 RA in all other games, so I guess they are outperforming a little in close games, but doesn't seem like a huge issue to me. -
Game Thread: Twins vs. Angels, 7/5/17 @ 7:10 PM Central
pbrezeasap replied to 70charger's topic in Archived Game Threads
I can tell you that he is a real nice guy, my youngest son had hitting and pitching lessons with him over last winter. He's from Hereford, TX (pronounced Herferd by the locals). The Angels announcers have pronounced it like its spelled, so I'm curious to see how Twins announcers say it, if at all. I'm routing for a complete game shutout by Ervin and a couple runs by the Twins off the Angels bullpen for a 2-0 win and a sweep. Also, he will chew the heck out of some gum during the game. -
Twins International Signing Period Preview
pbrezeasap replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It sure seems like it would be a good way for the penalized teams to work the system and lessen the pain. It seems like a better penalty would have been to slash those teams pools.- 64 replies

Twins International Signing Period Preview
pbrezeasap replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would assume it would be with a team under penalty, it seems that those teams would be hard pressed to spend all of their pools at 300k or less each and would probably get better prospects in return by trading some of the pool away. Sounds like a good strategy by the Red Sox. How much of a signing bonus would guys ranked in the 40-50 range be expected to get?- 64 replies

Twins Draft Blayne Enlow, Seven More
pbrezeasap replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would suggest you go look through the MLB Draft Archives at their rankings for past seasons, Rooker and Leach aren't really much of a stretch. For example in 2012, Berrios was ranked 46th and drafted 32nd and there were 15 players ranked higher than him who were drafted after him, but only one or two of those 15 would I maybe want over Jose. The rankings after the top tier don't really mean all that much.- 352 replies

I hope they don't take Scherff that early. Saw him pitch last month and expected to be way more impressed with someone ranked top 50ish prospect who was obviously way more physically developed than the competition. Plus something is fishy when you switch schools every year of HS career, plus switch college commitment.

Launching Into A New Statistical Era
pbrezeasap replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think I like the defensive stats even more than the offensive ones. Thanks for the link to the baseballsavant site, I hadn't ever been there. I like these charts for Byron Buxton, especially the last one where he caught a ball at a distance that is off of their chart. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/player?player_id=621439&pos=CF&player_type=batter&season=2016&tab=defense_tab#- 20 replies

Ervin Santana: To Trade Or Not To Trade?
pbrezeasap replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Exactly, also the Cubs were like 10 games under .500 and 10 games out of the division lead, so I guess I would be ok if Santana was traded to the Yankees for Gleyber Torres if we go 5-19 the rest of the month, fall way behind the Indians, and am guaranteed that the FO would sign a couple starters like Bumgarner and Tillman in the offseason.- 237 replies

pbrezeasap replied to twinsnorth49's topic in Archived Game Threads
At least the Wild and Twins can't lose by the same score on the same day again. -
Looking at their schedule for the rest of season with the optimism I feel after the first week I can see how they could get 80 more wins, but then I remember how I felt after the Vikings 5-0 start and there's no reason to get my hopes up. I just hope for the next 6 weeks they keep playing good ball against all the Central teams, don't get swept by the Rangers or Red Sox, and then build some more momentum from there and see what happens.

Maybe this article was meant as an April Fools Joke, but SI isn't so good with numbers/dates.

What kind of $ do guys like Goodrum and Wimmers get when they sign back as minor league free agents? Are they basically making the same as before or do they get a decent raise?- 18 replies
