  1. That's a fair take. I'm a bit surprised though that Ynoa and Littell are (from an FV standpoint) similar. One wasn't doing well in rookie ball, and one was dominating AA (albeit after being rather pedestrian in his seasons prior). I thought the FO did a great job turning a high risk piece into a controllable asset that should be in the majors for at least some time, and could have a decent ceiling in the process. I guess I'm saying that not all FV prospects are created equal. I'm not expecting a Justus Sheffield for a guy like Lynn (and if that is truly an option for Gibby, I'd probably do it), but I do think a FO that wants a competent start at the 5 spot in the rotation would give up something for Lynn. You may be right, last year was a bit different in that there really weren't many buyers (though you could argue that Falvine did a great job taking advantage of the time discrepancy/inefficiency of the market). But prospects like Ynoa or Palacios are a dime a dozen. Most teams have a bunch, and I'd think you could get something like that for Lynn.
  2. The way Thorpe has been pitching of late, I want to see him in September. He's already on the 40 man.
  3. Garcia was an interesting case. He was acquired with a high risk/decent reward prospect and traded for a much better one plus a 40 man cast off. It was an odd market, but I still think you could get something similar to what we gave to get Odorizzi. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Lynn gets something. You also have to agree that Lynn's sample is a bad April after no ST. That has to factor into anything.
  4. I think Cave can replace Grossman next season. A .755 OPS is a bit better than league average as it is, more so for a CF (SSS I know). I woudln't mind him in that role. I don't think he will get worse, and there's a chance he gets better. As for Granite, I don't know. I can give him a mulligan for his injury, but truthfully, I've never been that high on him to begin with. For a team carrying a 3 man bench, I'm not sure what value Granite will have once his options expire. Curtiss just needs an extended shot. They need to figure out if his numbers can translate to MLB. I'm hoping after the deadline that we will have a few new relievers and that Molly will play them. Wells and Jax are the only real prospects here. Both though are not old for their league. Jax hasn't played as much as everyone else and could have a break out season rocketing him up the list. I don't have super high expectations for either though.
  5. I think you'll start seeing these relievers come trade deadline. I'd be surprised if Rodney and Duke are still with the team next month. Both should net something and open up some relief spots. I still have no explanation for Belisle.
  6. I didn't realize Pressley was down to one more year of control. It seems like he was a rule V draftee only a few years ago. That makes more sense. I still think you're light on Lynn. A decent 4/5 type guy should fetch a decent prospect. It won't be a top 100 or anything like that, but well worth trading.
  7. If they are trading guys under control beyond 2018, they've given up on 2019, which means they've given up on Buxton and Sano.. or at least getting them fixed sooner than later.
  8. If this is true, they've given up on Buxton and Sano.
  9. I think you're being a bit unfair to Lynn on this one. He's been decent for 2 months. Yeah, he's not going to get you a Justus Sheffield, but I'd be surprised if he didn't bring in a decent prospect. Why trade Pressley though? He's under control for a while is he not?
  10. I don't see putting Rooker on the 40 man this year. I do agree that he should probably move up to AAA at some point. That would put him in line as depth next year as a mid-season 40 man add if the team really needs a bat (assuming of course he continues to hit). Even next year, he'd be an early 40 man add.
  11. That's fair, I'm just not a fan of setting back next year, and I think trading Gibson will do that.
  12. I guess my question is this, why wouldn't the Yankees simply call up Sheffield? He's ML ready, or very close to it. Sheffield would definitely get my attention for Gibson, but I doubt he's better than Gibby in 2019.
  13. I have to say that I'm not a fan of this. I don't think Gibby's cost should be in consideration at all. The team can afford him next season. I suppose that if the front office thinks Gibby is nothing but smoke and mirrors, then by all means ship him away for a nice haul. I'm not convinced this is the case, and I don't think they team should making trades that don't have an eye on 2019. As bad as this team has been this year, there's certainly some reasonable expectation that says they will bounce back. I just don't see shipping Gibby away. What would next year's rotation be? Odorizzi, Berrios, Romero, Pineda and May/Gonsalves/Littell/Slegers. There's some loss of depth there. Lynn I'd shop. He won't net the prospect Gibson nets, but he's also gone after this year. Gibson is not. Now that said, I'd certainly listen to offers, but it would need to be pretty impressive for me to pull the trigger.
  14. I'm pretty sure that if this offer is on the table, Falvine say yes before the Yankees could hang up the phone.
  15. Usually at this level, tools tend to take precedence over results... hence my question. If the tools are there, he's ranked way too low... or the system is just that deep. I haven't looked that close of late. I know there's a lot of youngish talent, so it's encouraging to see an 18 year old infielder in advanced rookie ball, not only doing well, but ranked low.
  16. I'm not sure I'd pin this season on the FO. They did quite a bit to improve the team at it's weak areas. No one predicted Sano, Buxton, and Polanco. That hurts. There's no way around it, and no FO would have had much better options behind them. You cannot stash starting level MLB talent in AAA. That said, I don't think they should be rebuilding. I'd say more retooling. The FO needs to fix Buxton/Sano. Not much will go right if they do not. I think they can do that this season yet, the talent is obviously there. You'll have Polanco back for 162 games next year as well as Rosario and Kepler (who I think takes a step forward). They would be smart to get a difference maker behind the plate (Realmuto), re-sign Escobar, and find a 1B and DH option for next year. I liked the LoMo signing, but that has been an unmitigated disaster. Getting a difference maker at the plate on a 3 year deal and another 1 year flier in these areas makes sense. That gives Rooker a bit more time to develop in the high minors and a chance to bring him in whenever the inevitable injury happens.
  17. Stewart is finally getting the Ks... walk/hits seem a bit high. Not sure if that's adjustments he's making or what. He's always had the stuff. Also worth noting he's a GB heavy pitcher. I wonder what how many of those hits are ones that woudlnt' get through in the majors.
  18. Probably a bit of an overreaction. He's been pretty good for two months now. Now if he keeps laying eggs, you may have a point, but one start won't kill his value.
  19. Curious what the question markson De La Torre are. He's more than 2 years below league average in Etown and doing quite well there (granted SSS). The write up on his defense says he should stay in the infield. Strikes me as a pretty decent prospect. I'd think if he kept that up, he'd be much higher than that.
  20. I have no confidence that Buxton will upgrade anything at the moment. I really hope he gets an option as well when he's eligible to come off the DL.
  21. Yeah, he was one of those high ceiling guys that everyone thought could rocket up the list... then he shredded his knee. He could still rocket up said lists this year, especially if he keeps this up.
  22. It would be interesting to see what he was throwing. It's quite possible they are asking him to throw something that's getting hit at the ML level.
  23. Wait, did you just say Mauer has/had a rap studio in his house?
