  1. Perhaps he's been listening to Mauer about swinging at the first pitch... /ducks
  2. I think the biggest change, in Erikson's case at least, was that injury he suffered in the middle of 91. He wasn't the same pitcher after that.
  3. I think some of us would have been quite happy if Buxton had started out hitting .250 with a lot less Ks... That's the problem. He's reverted right back to Bad Buxton.
  4. Based on his output yesterday, I'd say he read the article and made the adjustments
  5. His defense is great, but we need something resembling competent with the bat. I have a bad feeling about this.
  6. Right now, when Santana or May are ready, Lynn is on the outside looking in. Hopefully we can correct him so to speak...enough that someone might take him off our hands for a C prospect. But given how Romero, Gibson, Berrios, and Odorizzi are pitching, Lynn should be nervous... especially if he wants that payday.
  7. Loving what I see so far from him. The command should improve a bit with time and comfort, though if STL is more patient, that might be way he had 3 walks instead of 1 or 2... but 9 Ks and 3 hits. wow. SP is not problem right now, and with the bats heating up, we could go on a run.
  8. So... to the real question, how many times does RB reuse his Joe M conversation?
  9. Wishing Gibby had put things together a bit sooner. He's a FA this year, right? He's finally looking like the guy we wanted him to be.
  10. It would be nice to see the entire team firing on all cylinders. It seems as though when something good starts to happen, something somewhere else implodes. I do think they can snap out of this... slumps happen. But it needs to happen sooner than later.
  11. Kohl Stewart continues to rack up those Ks. ERA is a bit high due to one start, but he's got a K/9 over 9 right now one month into the season. That's pretty encouraging.
  12. I think the hardest part is that it's always someone else contributing to the next loss. Reed's been rock solid, then he start imploding. At least LoMo appears to be heating up.
  13. Worst case scenario, a guy like Lynn gets offered up at the trade deadline for help elsewhere or prospects...
  14. First ML start, I'm going to chalk up his control to nerves. Yes, he will need to be able to show the ability to pitch deeper into games, and control is a big piece of it. But for now, I'm happy he made it to the 6th. As he settles down, hopefully the walk number drops a bit. He can clearly throw strikes as evidence by all the Ks and the fact that the Jays weren't offering on pitches outside of the zone.
  15. I tend to agree with this... keep the challenge up. I'm not sure aggressive for the sake of aggressive should be the goal. Look at Buxton. No question he could have used some additional minor league seasoning... I get that Buxton's promotion was more need based at that time, but after failing, the team didn't exactly have a backup plan the following year. It showed.
  16. I find the statement I'm about to make rather odd, but starting pitching is not this team's problem right now. Hughes was a disaster, so yeah, he needed to go. Romero has obviously earned himself a second look and if he pitches well, Lynn will be the one looking over his shoulder as Santana and May near return. That said, the offense has been offensive, as has the pen. It will be interesting to see how that gets addressed. I'm hoping some guys start to heat up. LoMo, Rosario, Grossman, and Castro shouldn't be this bad.
  17. Rooker is definitely starting to heat up. Good sign. OPS still a bit low, but average back in respectable territory and he's actually taking walks. Not quite sure why he always feels the need to swing like crazy when he stars a new level. Hopefully he realizes patience is a virtue, or he's going to make Sano's K rate look benign.
  18. There aren't enough likes for this paragraph.
  19. I had a somewhat similar reaction to that quote. The idea that the org never had anyone directly working with catchers is something I have no words to describe.
  20. I personally would be very happy if we walked away with 2 or 3 in the top 10. I would be drafting lots of pitching and catching in this draft.
  21. toe nails falling off is a side effect to those types of races.
  22. guess I should go back to gamecast... get to watch my first game of the season...
  23. Hope the Twins have a plan to wake up some bats. Castro, Grossman, and Morrison need to get it going badly and Sano needs to start taking pitches.
  24. That was my first reaction as well.... First thought was why in the world did they extend him again?
