  1. I certainly would. I think he's of more value to the Twins on a 3-4 year deal than what we got for him. The league clearly doesn't value him, which is a shame.
  2. yeah, I think the Rockies and A's line up a bit better. I woudln't mind one of those top two pitching prospects from the Brewers, but the team has way too many on the 40 man now and really needs catching and infield prospects in the high minors. I think either of those teams make a lot more sense.
  3. I remember the angst when we took Pressley as a rule V candidate... looks like it turned out pretty well. Not sure I'm happy with the idea of punting on 2019, if that's what this is, but I do like the return... But since we are officially sellers, can we cut Belisle and bring up another AAA reliever?
  4. I'd go with the fact that he's walking way too many guys right now... I think he's figured it out (or at least, he has of late), but this control issue was new to him this year, which may be due to AAA hitters who are more selective, who knows.
  5. The danger in this is always selling, and I don't think the team is in the place to do that at the moment. The problem with this is that in Gibson's case, I doubt the return is much worse next year at this time if he keeps on doing it. His track record doesn't work in our favor in this case. Another year of similar results could increase the return, as he would be without question one of the most coveted pitchers on the market if we do bad in 2019 again.
  6. forgot about that... you're right... the concussion came right after he got back.
  7. Not quite sure I'd give up AK in that scenario, but I do agree that trading Gibson in a 3 way deal to get Realmutto makes sense, though it's going to create a hole in the 2019 rotation. The Yankees/Sox would likely be giving up the top prospect (and note the Red Sox system is pretty weak right now, so it's probably NYY), and I could see the Twins parting with two of the lesser pieces in that deal to make it work, at least one of which would probably be a guy like Mejia, who the Marlins could stick in their rotation for all of 2019.
  8. yeah, baring picking up a big SP prospect in the high minors, my rotation in 2019 would be Berrios, Gibson, Romero, Pineda, and May. Gonsalves, Stewart, Slegers, Thrope, Mejia, and Littell would be my AAA fall backs. You really only need one of the AAA guys to emerge to have 2020 locked up.. maybe two if May falters. That's still plenty of depth as well as plenty of options for 2020. Graterol and Wells aren't that far behind either. Edit: now that I think of it Mejia is out of options next year, so he's either in the MN pen as a long man (if they want him to stay stretched out) or on another team.
  9. This is his third year of doing this. I know he's been working on muscle building and what not, which should help here, but yeah, the trends are concerning. The flip side is that I don't think the problem is talent. He may need to change his conditioning routine a bit to stay fresh or perhaps it is as simple as him repeating this until he's in his second full season of MLB...who knows.
  10. I expected Kirrilloff to finish the season in FTM, but at the rate he's going, he might get a taste of AA yet this year.
  11. yeah, I'd probably shop him... but I don't think anyone would give me enough to part with him. I'd probably be more interested in shopping Odorizzi, as Pineda can replace him and they can go north with May as the 5th starter.
  12. He lost most of 2014 to a concussion he got very early on in high A. That was his second full season in our org. He was in the majors in 2015 due more to need, as he was not really blowing away AA.
  13. Pretty much this. I'm not ready to punt on 2019. I could see trading Lynn and maybe even Odorizzi, but Gibby would be in my 2019 plans. It would have to have to be one heck of a return to part with him, which means a top prospect in AAA or struggling in his 1st taste of MLB. I don't think teams will value Gibson at the current level that he's performing. May as well just roll the dice, because I cannot imagine the return being any less this time in 2019 if Sano and Buxton flop again.
  14. Just your random small world moment... I met Parker's dad on a flight this spring.
  15. To some extent, I'd hope they'd get some guys moved for no other reason than that I cannot imagine moving that many chips on the 30th/31st. That's a lot of moving pieces. That said, taking some of the players out also forces the hand of teams looking to pick up talent. The Brewers, in particular, are a big behind the 8 ball now needing both MI and pitching help.
  16. I'm drooling over the idea of acquiring Justus Sheffield.
  17. Considering the Brewers are supposedly in on Dozier and Escobar, I'd hope they could walk away with a higher ceiling guy like Peralta, especially if they are talking Gibson too.... They would have send out several top 10 guys plus some lower ranked upside guys for those 3. Looking at their system, Jake Nottingham looks somewhat interesting, though he's in the majors now. He wasn't ranked that high, but could fill a major need.
  18. Problem with the Brewers is that they don't add up quite well. They have some good pitching prospects, and you never turn that down, but I'd really want a C or 3B type in the high minors.
  19. I'd hope they could get more than Ruiz for both of them.
  20. You're probably right, though moving them has more value in getting looks at some AAA guys than anything.
  21. I've got to think Santana gets traded in August, unless by chance he throws a gem today. The problem with Erv is that someone will claim him during August waivers, leaving you with one team negotiating. I think Lynn goes to an NL team.
  22. You may have a point with Houston, as they are stacked on the mound. But he would be on every other playoff team's post season roster, and in most cases, not as the fourth guy. Gibson is a top 30 pitcher this year. There are 30 teams. You can quibble over 1 vs. 2 in how that fits, but the bottom line is that Gibson would be an upgrade on just about every playoff team/contender.... and in most cases, significant.
  23. I tend to agree with you on Gibby, with the caveat that I'd move him if the front office thinks this is a mirage. I don't for the record, and think he replicate this season in 2019... That said, I think you're being a bit hard on him calling him a 3. He's been a well above average starting pitcher this season. Perhaps you don't view a 3 as an average pitcher, but I think that's a bit unfair to Gibby.
  24. The big difference between the two is that one came out of HS and the other college. I'd be a bit more patient with the HS guy before I wrote him off.
  25. Reading through the box as well as his year to date stats, I have to say the same thing. 12th round last year, so not a big prospect, but he's destroying low A right now. I think he needs to move up to see how he can do against tougher competition. The ERA isn't exceptional, but those peripherals are down right sexy. They'd be wise to bump him up. If he continues that at high A, you have a good reason to get excited.
