  1. I'm guessing their stadium won't treat him well either.
  2. Honestly, their odds of contention in 2019 are just as good as they were at teh beginning of 2018. Only one player traded was a guy expected to be here next season. We can just as easily get Escobar back (who truthfully is the one player I think we need). I'd bring him back to play 2B and then move into a utility role when Gordon is ready. I don't think we need to add pitching (we may need to subtract it). We do need to add some hitting help, and the FO did attempt to do that a bit.
  3. I really hope they bring up some of our Rochester relievers and see if they can contribute for 2019. Moya shoudln't be the only one called up.
  4. I don't call that whining.. he was asked a question and answered it. It certainly doesn't portray the sulking/bad attitude that people are claiming he has. I'll admit that this is the first time I've seen anything indicating he wanted to stay. As I said before, it was quite public that he didn't want his FA years bought out when he signed that extension. Them's the breaks. That's the risk he took.
  5. You can ask, but the other team can (and usually will) say no. Other than Pressley, these deals were pretty much take it or leave it.... and even then, no way we could have packaged someone like Gonsalves in there to get a top 100 guy. That only works if the guy you have is a hot commodity and the team trading for him happens to need some near ML ready pitching in the high minors. The amusing thing behind this is that Dozier himself was never much better than a C+ prospect if I remember right.
  6. I'd like to a see a link to this speculation about Dozier complaining about not getting an extension. He signed the deal he signed so that he could test FA this offseason. That was very public.
  7. They also got a younger player who is playing a bit better (not much) and has another year of control. Schoop is a better bet than Dozier to have a better 2019.
  8. I guess I don't understand what the high bar would be. Season is over, they are getting value from it where they can. Ryan never had this kind of activity after a season like this. They are doing the right thing.
  9. Meijia is out of options next year. Gonsalves is not. They are probably going to get a look at Mejia first, as a decision will need to be made there.
  10. If they plan on offering him a QO, he won't get traded. I'm not sure they would (or should) offer him a QO, so I'd think he's going to the higest bidder, which I doubt will be a very good prospect.
  11. I keep forgetting about his option years. Those are pretty cheap given his caliber of play. I'm just pointing out that Gibson is pitching better than Archer this year. And Gibson's 2018 is better than Archer's 2017 and 2016 (sadly, Gibson sucked during that time, which is why I don't think a GM meets an asking price worth moving him).
  12. I want you to be right here. I doubt another GM ponies that kind of capital up, especially given Kyle's track record. I've been pretty clear that I don't think he will be traded, so we will never know the asking price.
  13. I'm not sure Dozier will get a solid return, though he's done well enough in July to get someone to bank on him. As "bad" as he's been, he's still league average at 2B. I'm not sure the return will be any better than Escobar (and it could be worse).
  14. I will be surprised if Gibson could get 2 top 100 guys. Given his history, I'd be surprised if he got 1, which is why I doubt he gets traded... but yes, I'd definitely set the ask very high for him. I think Chris Archer's get will be telling. Archer has a much better track record, but is not having nearly the season Kyle is having this year (or really the last couple years have been as good as 2018 Kyle, though to be fair, the unbalanced schedule does him no favors).
  15. That's pretty much it for hitting prospects in the upper minors. Perhaps you could add Zander Weil if you're high on him. I'm not sure I'd count on any of these guys in 2019 (though I would definitely be pushing Rooker to AAA effective yesterday, and of the guys listed, he's probably the one that will soonest provide impact). We are, however, very stacked in terms of pitching prospects in the high minors.
  16. I think moving on from some of the vets and giving some of our AAA guys a chance to succeed might actually be a bit of addition by subtraction personally. That means guys like Lynn and Santana are expendable in favor of Mejia, Gonsalves, Romero, etc. Same with the guys in the pen. The bats are a bit different story, as Rochester is rather lacking in that area. I'll say what I said earlier, I'm not terribly in favor of moving on from controllable guys like Gibson (admittedly, the return on Pressley was pretty good), as I think they have a real chance of competing in 2019.
  17. I think the only way I trade Gibson is for a top 100 guy and one or two more in the team's top 20... and I have to add that someone in that haul needs to be near ML ready at a position we need such as C. Levine has every right to make it clear that we will need to be blown away. Trading Gibson is a punt on 2019, and I don't think that's a good idea.
  18. I don't think he should be handed a job. I think the team would be smart to sign someone on a 1 year deal to man 2B. He doesn't look that ready.
  19. I think it would be longer than a week and a half on the bench to get them to get a replacement. If he's out for the season, then yes.
  20. Those aren't bad gets either, but with all the young upside pitching we have right now, there's a real 40 man issue here, unless these guys don't need to go on the 40 man any time soon. The team needs an ML ready C as well as a 1B/3B/DH type. I'd probably go for a hitter here unless Cleveland is dangling someone with ace potential at us (and I don't think they would).
  21. Cleveland has a nice system, and it never hurts to pillage from it for 2 months of Dozier... That said, the guy that fits our need is Mejia, but that would be an overpay on Cleveland's part. I woudln't mind Shane Bieber or Bobby Bradley either. The Giants system seems a bit weaker, though a few names woudl be good returns. Chris Shaw would fit into the teams' needs. Aramis Garcia might fit there too.
  22. Problem with Boston is that they don't have a good system. Both of those guys we got from Houston would be in their top 10. I don't think the return for Dozier would be all that good if Boston is the destination. Duke might make more sense going to Boston, but I'd hope there's a team with a deeper farm that's interested in Dozier.
  23. Does anyone know the age cutoff that defines the difference between needing 4 years or 5 years before being rule V eligible? I know HS/international FAs require 5 years. College players are 4 years. If the cutoff is 19, then he needs to be added this season unless he was 18 when he signed.
