  1. That's because they are, at least as of right now.
  2. Situational hitting has been a team-wide problem for more than a few seasons now. We can clearly score runs knocking the ball out of the yard, but driving in runners in some other manner is highly problematic and their usual inability to do so is highly frustrating for us fans. While pitching in general, and the bullpen specifically, is IMHO still the team's biggest concern, I believe that somehow addressing that weakness needs to be done. However, how to accomplish that is up for debate and is something I don't have a good feeling for right now.
  3. The only problem for us is he's a lefty and has a discernable pulse. Therefore, he's almost guaranteed a spot in the bullpen.
  4. Not sure if that's possible, however, I believe a DFA is certainly in order.
  5. Hard to do a competent bullpen with a lot of guys who are mostly hit or miss types, and usually more miss than hit. We need a LOT more talent out there than we've showed most of the season thus far.
  6. Problem is more than half of the arms in the pen should only be used in low leverage situations. Not a good position to be in.
  7. Nice to dream of, but I wouldn't count on it happening.
  8. Doesn't surprise me, due our agonizing tendency to play down to the perceived level of the day's competition. More often than not, it comes back to bite them in the hind end, like tonight.
  9. My thoughts exactly! Their chances of winning, even down by one run, are virtually nil. Absolutely pathetic!
  10. You mean Rocco, in all his infinite wisdom (??), decides to approach the next similar situation? I can hardly wait.
  11. True. However, I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon.
  12. It will likely keep happening until we get a major league-caliber bullpen. Unfortunately, we don't have one now and I'm not optimistic we'll have one anytime soon.
  13. How much longer before Pagan is DFAd? I know it's not all solely his fault, but he appears to be the poster boy for these bullpen meltdowns.
  14. A common symptom in teams with a significant shortage of "professional" hitters, with all due respect to Luis Arreaz (sp). A symptom we've had for far too many seasons now, save for the Bomba squad of 2019.
  15. Also known as playing down to the perceived level of your opposition, a trait we've become quite good at in the relatively recent past.
  16. So am I. Lately, it's becoming easier and easier to find any excuse to not turn the game on. Sadly, I think the free fall has begun. Say hello to sub-.500 very soon. Sigh!!!
  17. Glad I'm not alone in this mindset
  18. Agreed. And it's likely to get a lot worse before it gets noticeably better.
  19. Nor very good under any form of duress.
  20. In that case, we're in a world of hurt, because, IMHO, we're sorely lacking in viable internal options. Doesn't matter if you're talking pitching or hitting.
