  1. He looks like he would have a hard time following through with his back ski?
  2. I do 100% of my driving near home, near home. . .
  3. Yet more proof to Doze that you can reach out and successfully pull every outside pitch!
  4. I think we should start locking up talent. Duensing, Fien, we need to put some of these guys (back) on the 40 man.
  5. I think in Negative Game 163, we are the odds on favorite. No team can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like such!
  6. I will have you know I speak 7 languages fluently, unfortunately Canadian is not one of them!
  7. Yes, and since the loser is the winner, it could be a long game. It would be kind of fun to put together a lineup to guarantee a loss! And no, you cannot use tonight's.
  8. I am glad you typed that in English. I have no idea what the Canadien word for ****ing is?
  9. It is my understanding they asked Polanco to play, to paraphrase his response: WTF, don't you think I saw what happened to Kepler, Meyer, Berrios, and Rosario. I am staying on the bench and collecting MLB meal money!
  10. I am happily and safely ensconced in moms basement! I fear entering RiverWorld would be akin to stumbling into the castle of Dr. Frank N. Furter, sans Janet!
  11. I feel that tonight things will turn for the better. Dozier announced yesterday he is addressing the team before the game. I am sure Dick/Bert will cover the address in depth. As long as he stays away from topics such as catching pop ups behind 2nd, pulling outside pitches to the SS of LF'er, and complaining about every called third strike, I think the talk will be well received. Now if on the other hand Dick informs us that Dozier was pulled suddenly from the lineup due to a pregame eye injury, that is another matter!
  12. Well said, and valid points. Rosario to Rochester is not of itself all bad. But the rationale is. and this isnt unusual. Hicks ended up in Gardy's doghouse and got benched for flipping instead of throwing the ball into the infield. Respect for the game has become a timeworn mantra for a team that bunts in the second inning. A couple of additional points from someone who frankly is a traditionalist. Move like Roasaio made today are going to become more prevelant, and should. If you're not going to play a third baseman that's your decision, live with it. Another is the influx of Hispanic players, which ch will and is changing the style of play. Better, worse, is your personal opinion. But they grow up playing with a different "creed" than our unwritten rules.
  13. Good article. As was Gleemans. But the buck doesn't stop with Ryan. There is nothing to suggest that public opinion will cause the Pohlads get off the dime. Their accountants will likely make the call based on the P&L. I know that sound very sarcastic, but it's not meant to be. Nothing has been presented by the teams ownership to show there is anything else that influences a decision. A season or two of empty seats will cause Ryan to resign (he will never be publicly fired), nothing else will.
  14. The bottom line is you could do what Seth suggests, and have a chance to succeed long term. Or you could do what others suggest, dump a whole bunch of vets now, bring in all the young troops, and suffer through it, and likely succeed down the road. Or you could do what everyone in their hearts knows they really will do. Hang onto the Doziers, Plouffes, Hughes, maybe even Suzuki, etc, all year, and likely next year, and end up muddling around in the middle. Probably go on a faux win streak, and declare yourself in good shape for 2017! Ugh!
  15. I have a Harley, they are not fast, and my wife would seriously debate the "fine husband" comment.
  16. Luckily I have Slap Shot on TIVO. I love hockey. Completely agree. While this was bad, so are seasons long mediocre performances. You can either lose with no chance of improving, or you can lose with a chance of getting better. I don't know if May, Meyer, Berrios, Duffey, Burde, Chargois et could lead us to some playoff runs, but I can almost guarantee that Hufhes, Nolasco, Jepsen, etc won't.
  17. Luckily I have Slap Shot on TIVO. I love hockey.
  18. This is getting a little silly, next your gonna tell us you are Eve!
  19. Cain made numerous mistakes! Not enrolling in the farm program was the first. No matter how much wheat he grew, or Abel stole all he had to do was stand next to his mailbox and wait for his check. It's a fool proof system. The second mistake was not whacking Abel in Manitiwoc Co. Had he done that Stepen Avery would have been blamed, and the Old Testament would have been changed forevermore!
  20. Tonkin spent several "opportunities" with the Twins looking over his shoulder. I am sure in his mind, it was either spotless performances, or the next flight to Rochester. That's a tough way to play. Probably far more pressure than pitching with the bases loaded, up one in the ninth for a regular. Young players with visible talent need to feel they will get a legitimate amount of time to show where abilities, not a one, done, and the TSA line!
  21. I have had this nagging thought on Dozier for the last month. While guys like Arcia and Rosario take some pretty silly at bats, they appear to be caused by impatience and poor zone recognition. Doziers problems seem caused by either stubbornness or selfishness. Continually trying to hit everything into the second row of the LF corner. For someone who is one of the faces of the team, and thought by some as a team leader, that approach makes for a poor example. I would get what I could for him and move on.
  22. I was about 800 words into a solution for the Twins when the site crashed yet again, like about the 267th time this weekend. The short version is almost everyone's opinion of the Twins is correct, because in reality, the whole team from the FO on down is currently a mess. But those who call for patience have the first step in the solution, correct. It's going to be a slog to get there, regardless of who was to blame, and the issues are so prevalent and intertwined that every move will result in the necessity for more adjustments to make the initial move work. For example trading Plouffe moves Sano, Arcia, and eventually Buxton and Kepler. You can just trade Plouffe, and move Sano, but to me that is not the end. It has to be followed by a long term adjustment of the OF. The bottom line is the team, not unlike Plouffe have this in common. All of the parts, offense, defense, pitching, as a stand alone entity could get by at this level. But combining them coordinates each parts weaknesses with the corresponding weakness of another part, i.e. PTC with poor OF defense. One would like to think that when constructing a team, one would take into consideration the PTC style of the pitching staff when allocating OF spots. Or even vice versa. But they either didn't, or have a different evaluation of players than many do. Regardless, the results are in, and they are not good.
