  1. Yeah u win some, and you lose some! But the somes should be a tad closer than they have been!
  2. Sorry, I got carried away, the other team seldom bats in the bottom of the ninth!
  3. Einstein would have approved of your "Theory of Relative Pickiness"
  4. FIEN!!! Great ninth inning guy? Or greatest ninth inning fun ever? Polls are open until 2:45pm
  5. it's too bad Einstein couldn't hit, we have an opening on the 40 man.
  6. The more initials, and the more decimal points, the higher the importance to stat heads! .
  7. BPPFC. Sounds very saber metric! Is 1.000 league average?
  8. Is there a particular reason Park did not hit for Rosario? I could understand Buxton last night, a chance for a shot of confidence, but I thought today was odd? And this is. Coming from someone who is not sold on Park?
  9. I would predict a soon to be contract extension for Nolasco! Now I wish I could have typed that with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but my tongue just refused to do it. On a more serious note, it's kind of interesting that many cannot figure out how to make room for the incoming group of pitchers. If you won't bring in promising upgrades to a mediocre staff, it's a sure sign that your priorities are the P&L, and not the WL ledger!
  10. Some Twins players seem to attain a mythical status. Others obviously don't. Some are banished to Rochester for an entire season and some are left to retain their top of the order status, regardless. I am a believer in riding through slumps. But a slump is not 3-4 months of pop ups and dribblers to SS. Some argue that you cannot connect the last half of last year, to this year. I imagine the same could be said for all of Drew Buteras seasons. I wouldn't necessarily sit him down, but a few games batting 8th might send a message, as would a few on the bench. Maybe if he finds out he is not irreplaceable, he will put in the effort to become so.
  11. One of the biggest problems with the interweb is that people can go back and look at what you said previously! TD should delete all comments, within 6 minutes. So much easier to adjust ones positions that way!
  12. Sooner or later they are going to have to come to grips with the SP. if for no other reason that the current contracts won't allow them to simply wait until the contracts expire. It's still too early to trade anyone, other teams aren't settled in either. Barring an injury, the only real option appears to be Milone to the pen. And that's a bad idea. As for Dozier, he's being beat to death in two other posts! But if the Twins believe that he can or will change his approach to hitting, I would keep him. If he remains HR Dozier, I would trade him in a second. Personally I think he wants to remain HR BD. As much as I like Arcia, he is the odd guy out. You cannot put two guys like him an Sano in an OF, and lead the majors in lack of SO's! As long as Sano keeps catching routine pop flies, and demonstrates his athleticism, he is staying in RF. And if they don't have a catcher they like in MiLB as a starter, keep looking. Murphys hitting doesn't bother me, but his lack of blocking does. Ugh! It's going to be an interesting, and maddening June!
  13. Well the announcement will soon be forthcoming what good buds they are, so that issue will be resolved. Are BD's religious beliefs polarizing in the clubhouse? That would not even be up for discussion if everyone would simply practice their own religion, or lack thereof, and leave others to do the same.
  14. The SSS is not going to make any other GM come knocking on the door just yet. But if and when one does, will we take this marvelous opportunity to unload him, or will we miss that boat and be simply amazed when he is either injured or regresses?
  15. SSS alert! Murphy can't block low balls, Suzuki can't throw, and neither one can hit! Now I know why Gardy carried 3 catchers!
  16. I agree, for Ryan it won't be until mid year, barring an injury. Molitor is really limited to what he can do. When Santana returns on Monday, and with Plouffe out, he has few impactful options. Deciding between Santana and Nunez at third will not a WS appearance make. Despite last nights travails, I like Arcia, I still think he will hit and needless to say struggle with the glove. But with this PTC fly ball staff, there just is no consistent playing time available for him. You cannot have two guys in the OF like him and Sano. This roster reminds me of the guy who had 2 chickens and a duck in his garage. He wanted a pair of each, but he went out bought another chicken. Amazingly he was surprised that the chicken and the duck didn't get along! Frankly he should have thought of that before he bought another chicken!
  17. Let us count the ways........ Lol.
  18. If you wish to compare Suzukis offensive numbers you need to go to: NL/BA/Pitchers. You will find him somewhere in the middle. . Speaking seriously for a moment, there are players that have hit like Dozier has and been banished to mid state NY for a year. And no, I am not advocating that. And the reason the whole BD pulls everything mantra seems old, is because BD does pull everything. The thought that pitchers would not take 2 years to adjust to Dozier is valid. But even more so if it would explain why Dozier has not adjusted to the pitchers in this same time frame. While the reception on the TV in my moms basement is at a times fuzzy, it doesn't take a real clear picture to see someone consistently reaching out over the plate, and trying to wrap the end of his bat around an outside pitch.
  19. . Hmmm, and now he is on a four month streak of uncrushing it! He is suffering the same fate that almost all pull happy hitters do. I actually think he has the ability to correct it, but he would have to give up the image of "Brian Dozier, ASG HR Participant". If and when he does, is up to him.
  20. I would agree with that. I thought early in ST he was simply trying to hit the ball anyway or how he could. He was basically jumping fastballs. Now he is more patient. But if he ends up going from 53 HR's to 20, that's fairly mundane. It will be interesting to see how they start to work him. They havent even begun that process. I will say this, he is certainly a different "type" of player than I imagined. He could easily have played NL ball, he doesn't seem to need to be just a DH.
  21. Sometimes numbers tell a story, and sometimes the numbers are a story. Doziers problem is he only can hit one pitch into the seats, and that observation is not based on a SSS. Eliminating, or at least drastically decreasing this pitche leaves you with very limited power numbers. And pitchers have made it very clear that the only up and in stuff he will see, is a mistake. There is nothing wrong with a Dozier who hits doubles, gets on base, and runs well. The Twins need that more than another HR hitter. The question is can he do it? Or shall I say, will he? Credit to Dozier for identifying a niche, selling out on the inside pitch, and identifying a proclivity for the Twins to "buy high". He has guaranteed his future.
  22. He is patient at the plate, and a better overall ball player than I imagined. I will find it odd if his SO's decline, considering the advanced level of pitching he is seeing. So far he has proven he can hit a fat belt high hanger very far. The question is how many of them will he see in the future. It's always fun to watch the battle of wits between pitchers and hitters.
  23. After the second half of 2014, it really surprised me he saw anything up and in, to start 2015, but he did. Now the only ones he sees in that zone are mistakes, or balls so far out of reach he can't hit them. But he still tries. For those waiting for the first half of the last two years Dozier, it might be a long wait. There are likely only two outcomes. The version of Dozier you see now, or one who adjusts, has gap doubles power, hits maybe .260, and can run the bases fairly well. There won't be an opposite field hitting Dozier with 28 home runs. He doesnt exist. In a game thread, early in Doziers struggles last year, the Chief summed it up succinctly. "Doziers problem is he thinks he's a HR hitter, and he isn't"!
  24. Hmm, possibly a stepping stone to replace TR someday? GM Gardenhires first announcement will be Nick Punto as manager!
  25. Yoshi? I always wondered where that SS went that we signed out of the Japanese League a few years ago. If he is SECRET AGENT, I hope he is better at concealing himself than he was here. No matter where the Twins put him, the ball always found him!
