  1. I am not throwing the team under the bus for three games, or under any bus for that matter. But the fact is that the things that seemed like they were going to be a problem have been. And might easily stay that way over the long haul. The single player who could mitigate this is Buxton, his upside is that high. Sano already did his offensively last year, and his defensive ceiling is most players floor. Any other improvements would have to come from Mauer or someone not on the current roster. As for Park, I have no clue. He can just as easily be a plus or minus, to me it's a crapshoot.
  2. I know it's way too early to panic. But it's not to early to surmise. The SO's aren't going away, the history of the players involved would indicate that. Sooner or later there will be a barrage of HR's, but I bet a lot of them are going to be solos. The defense could be a wash compared to last years. Buxton is living up to his rep already, but Sano will drag the level down. The question is how far his level of improvement will go. Everyone who ever played, reached an end point. He better be a long way from his. As for the pitching? Enough has been said about the pen, so that meh is all I want to add. As for the starting staff, the team often uses KC as an example of winning without a dominant staff. But you better have an awful good defense to cover the lack of SO's. You can do without one or the other, but not both.
  3. I have never seen a 3 legged chicken! Do they have them down under there?
  4. . North Dakotas goal? Higher oil prices?
  5. But Arcia has done nothing this year,,,,, oh wait, I don't think he has played? .
  6. Little known fact. Big cities are easier the bigger the vehicle. I have been through Chicago on 18 wheels, and two wheels, Gary to Rockford. Trust me, the truck is a dream compared to the bike.
  7. Not if you go via Madison!
  8. It's too far to walk?
  9. What? The train? Milwaukee? Or writing?
  10. Yes Good grief! Spaghetti! Mac and Cheese! What's next? Romulen Noodles? What's wrong with Pork Chops, German Potato Salad, Funeral Hot Dish, or Egg Foo Young? Good old Murrican food!
  11. This is almost better than watching a hockey game!
  12. That's my initial thought on spaghetti pie, too much spaghetti!
  13. I honestly have never heard of spaghetti pie! But since I don't like spaghetti, I was quite content that way!
  14. Wouldn't simple math make it 2/3 M SO. (Yes, I know that is not relative)
  15. Are those the same guys who started Quicken? Maybe I can get a loan?
  16. I have mukluks! But I may have to go to lighter weight oil in the HD! )
  17. I think you just gave the definition of inconsistecy?
  18. Are you insinuating that TC Bear is involved in personnel decisions at One Twins Way? This explains a lot! . As an aside, don't you think "when and where we feel like it" strikes an ominous tone, especially this early in the season. Your point was valid about some of the whining, but TD is not a penal colony!
  19. Hmmm, we have went from politics to erections! Hopefully neither lasts over 4 hours!
  20. Have you reminded the intern that he is in "Twins Territory"? And in the event of an injury, when you reside in "Twins Territory", you must have an excess of bench players in the event of an injury. Putting an inexperienced pitcher, or IF, in RF after an injury would violate the long held concept of "Respect for the Game"! Making a mockery of MLB! Such shenanigans are frowned upon highly at One Twins Way.
  21. Your comment about having made 100,000 ridiculous things, while obviously understated, should have been viewed as a commentary on your human frailties, not as a political statement! . I therefore apologize profusely for turning it in that direction! The Lady in Chicago is correct, politics have no place on Whine Line. I personally feel they are far more appropriate in "Off the Baggy" articles!
  22. I wonder if that's where the term "bats cooled off" comes from. I do hope The Northman shows up during one of those 3 day stretches when they have the McRibs!
  23. It's a sad commentary on our political system that you, yes you Mike, might be qualified for public office! .
  24. Whether your are a backup IF, or starting catcher in that situation is a moot point. Who is the better hitter is the issue. This again reeks of deference to veteran players. I am not even a Nunez fan, but he is still a better HITTER than Kurt.
