  1. you could buy 4 clocks, and line them up on your desk. Be sure and label them. Otherwise if the cleaning lady gets them out of order, you could end up 4 hours late for a meeting someday!
  2. If there is a 50% chance it's going to rain, and a 50% chance it's not going to rain, what is the percentage that it will do one or the other?
  3. My sarcasm meter went off the charts! It came up just short of the WTF marking! "Throw in Nolasco to sweeten the deal"!
  4. Vanster! Since you have already admitted acquiring Chielf PP account info, you should be able to help me with a moral dilemma. My daughter must have used my IPad to make an Amazon purchase, and now when I open Amazon her CC info, password et al is right there in front of me. Should I limit the size of my purchase? Or disregard family values and felony level theft penalties and go for it. As an aside, how much do you know about extradition treaties?
  5. Chief, remember that despite the WL record, or the size of the crowd, TF ushers frown on you moving to better seats. I would highly advise staying in what are likely seats in the upper RF corner, despite what appear to be 40,000 empty seats closer to home plate. Btw, say hi to Sid for me if you see him. You two might be the only ones there!
  6. It's going to be interesting and fun. And will leave a plethora of topics to discuss. Off the top of my feeble head are two. We have finally entered the offensive, damn the SO's, full speed ahead era. Which sadly ended about the time drug testing became pervasive. When batting average, bullpens and Piranahs were cheap we had the market cornered. Power was expensive, we had little. Now the exact opposite. Power arms, and defense are expensive, and HR's (see Plouffe) are cheap, and we are the '27 Yankees. Coincidence? Holmes did not believe in them, and neither do I. I do agree with Nick, the pieces are mostly in house. Will the FO be flexible and proactive and move more of the blocking mediocrity out of the way, or will money and security rule. There is a difference between being a General Manager, and a General Accumulator!
  7. Bert is a colorful guy, not a color guy. He is at his best, when the game is at its worst! I think I would give Morneau some consideration at first. The injury really was the difference. He was just coming into his own. I know it's sacrilegious to say in MN, but Herbie, for all his success and popularity, did not exactly overwork himself playing the game. I always thought he left quite a bit laying on the table.
  8. I read just recently the the player Baltimore brought in last year from the KBL had a clause wherein he had to agree to a stint in the minors, and he did not. The same piece said most KBL players have that clasue? But the writer did not know if that was a part of the Park contract. I imagine if someone from TD called Terry, he would be more than happy to clear up the matter?
  9. I am not sure "wants to trade" is necessarily the right term. Especially the word "wants". Sometimes, as is the case now, you look at whether making a move allows you to fill a spot with a player with a lot higher upside. In six years this board will be raging with conversations about keeping what are now cheap rookies, and too soon will hopefully be expensive FA. No one will want to get rid of them, but since we can't/won't sign them, they will want to get something of value. To me trading Plouffe was not about wanting to get rid of Plouffe, it was about the team having a much better overall roster balance. I love Arica's potential and would hate for him to be traded. But he's a very bad fit for the slot he is in. As a regular somewhere he has a chance of excelling as a power hitter. But not in a couple bats a week rotation.
  10. The Vanimal is a talk show host, they don't have hearts!
  11. The Twins had some good things happen last year. Their numbers with men on base, and IIRC two outs were very high. The insane May overrode what was a relatively mediocre rest of the year. And they beat Chris Sale like a drum. It was a very good, and fortunate year. I have not suffered as much angst as others over the inaction on the BP side, I think the help is in the minors. (Burdi sets me back a little). But the problem is it's still in the minors. If I wasn't going to acquire FA help, then I would have promoted more from within. I do think Pressley will help considerably though. The SP? Meh! There is really nothing to say, they made their bed, they have to lie in it. Defense? Infield is pretty clean, but isn't going to steal many basehits from anyone. They could have had an elit defensive outfield, but that arguement has been waged somewhere before. Personally with an extreme PTC staff, and with the exception of Berrios more of that in the SP future, I would have made the defensive OF a higher priority. The offense? Could be stunning at times, or not. Nothing comes and goes like offense, and nothing is easier to stop by good pitching in a best of five series.
  12. I doubt they will write a book about an alcohol induced crawl back to the train, after a game. It's done by half the fans at a Vikings game weekly.
  13. Since Duensing has been released, he is available. Do you think the Twins should re-sign him so we can trade him for someone, and would it be a good trade? I think a Kuechel for Duensing trade (we might have to throw in Punto) would put the team in the WS!
  14. Did she drive the Park Avenue down.
  15. Aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself accusing us of jumping the gun?
  16. Vanimal, Just want to let you know how much I enjoy your live remotes from ST. Have you seen Sid anywhere? Whenever anyone asks me "Who is Vanimal? What is Whine Line?" The only comparable I can come up with is Sid, and the late great radiocast "Sports Hero". You two are the epitome of the broadcast profession.
  17. Ed Thoma had posted a few weeks ago about Burdi working on a split fingered. Which will raise hell with some peoples arms, and of course not others. Today he wondered if this was a cause? It tis a coincidences!
  18. Also interesting, no one picked the Twins for a WC slot. All or nothing. Btw, it you are in the AL West, and have an "A" in your emblem, it don't look good! I don't think the Twins will finish last or first. I think they have some emerging talent, but an overall roster that is built on decent, but mediocre players. They have some power, which might be offset by low OBP and very high SO's. No one would rate the overall bullpen, SP, nor defense in the top tier of the league. All ML compatible, but average. The sum of which will be the same!
  19. That's pretty brutal. It's also interesting that I see people wanting Plouffe traded and Sano moved to 3rd. I get that, but the market for 3rd basemen wasn't high to begin with this offseason and Plouffe is not viewed outside of the Twins organization the way he is viewed by the Twins." >>>>>>>> It also says something about your lineup if Plouffe is your cleanup hitter. "Trevor Plouffe hitting cleanup on a playoff baseball team" is not a statement I ever imagined, nor still do!
  20. These things seem to have a script. Tight forearm, shut down a bit, optimistic reports, comes back, throw as OK, optimistic reports, TJ surgery!
  21. My psychiatrist told me that looking at my backside in the mirror is a sign of insecurity! But I'm not sure about that?
  22. I heard Vanimal is very close to signing a promotional agreement with Chipotle! It was supposed to be already finished but it seems the Chipotle CEO came down with some form of stomach flu. Reports have him back at work in 7-10 days!
  23. Vanimal, I realize I am not a great professional mind like those that inhabit the front office. In fact one poster has accused me of writing from my moms basement. At one time that was true, but she has asked that I move to the fruit cellar, she said the neighbors were starting to talk! But I digress. Since pitch to contact, and swing and miss have such a negative connotation, is it possible that the Twins have gotten confused? It was my understanding "Snapper Mow em Down" innings were sposed to be when we were in the field!
  24. One thing that seems to me to be a problem is that Perk has only really excelled in the true closer roll. He has often struggled in other situations. Concentration? I don't know, but it might be hard for him to slide down to a non closer.
  25. The confusion is caused by weighing yourself to often!
