  1. Van Master, You are coming in loud and clear on WWTF, the So MN News Giant! Do you think it's too early to over react? Or should we wait until the end of the week. Which begs the question? If we wait to the end of the week to over react, is it still over reacting. Btw, if North is providing swag, what's wrong with Tom Nortons, or whatever that donut shop is called in Canada? Please respond quickly, it's lonely I'm moms basement!
  2. But this in a nutshell is the Twins. Endless roster decisions driven by contracts, options, and injuries. Oft times talent is fourth on the list of reasons. I personally like Tonkin, but have no idea if he will succeed. But whenever you leave a player with no idea where he stands, or what his role is, you don't do yourself any favors. Asking a short guy to pitch long innings might not work. And it just might not be the players fault.
  3. When you PH for your catcher, down in the 9th, the quality of your backup catcher should not be part of the decision making process. In the 7th, possibly.
  4. It was a trend all last year.
  5. It was the basis of my comment. The Twins are generally slow on the take, and pretty institulionalized. They finally went to power bats, having missed the steroid era by only 10 years. They were very late to defensive shifts, metrics are only used when they play Toronto, and have talked about power arms for what? 5 years, and STILL have not installed one in the staff. May could end up one, but is still not a high 90's guy. It's a very slow process, and I cannot see anyway it changes.
  6. Yes it's early in the year, and there are gonna be a lot of nights like this. That's the life of an offense first team, there will be a lot of 10-4 games, and stat padding. But when it slumps, it's going to slump big. In any sport offense is always the least reliable phase of the game. As for PH'ing? The Twins don't really PH often, they have been in the lower part of the league. Being a bench player there means getaway day games generally.
  7. Driving through Indiana seems like a great idea. Stopping on the other hand does not!
  8. I can think of a lot of good openers, but seeing a "Brown Creeper" doesn't ring a bell!
  9. I can think of more things for women to get sun on, than a Wednesday evening!
  10. I had some barbecued brisket in a little hole in the wall south of San Antone that was too die for. That comment will be the last, and only positive one I have about Texas!
  11. Someone married Chief?
  12. Three points from various posts: Sano takes a lot of pitches, including what seems to be an awful lot of good looking called third strikes. Protection? Miggy had one or both of of the Martinez behind him, IIRC. That's a lot of protection. I am not sure Plouffe and Rosario strike that amount of fear into the hearts of the mound opponents. IF I had my druthers, I would prefer Sano in the 4 hole. But every time I try and fashion a lineup like that, I can't find anyone to hit 3. It's been a problem for the Twins for a long time, a pure 3 hitter.
  13. They do still use pagers. Volunteer fireman and Panera bread come to mind. A couple of our local fireman appear to use the Panera bread one the most!
  14. "There will be more coming"? Not exactly a rallying cry for our new RF. But regrettably true, nonetheless!
  15. It's only one game, but the Twims haven't really been a platooning or PH team as a rule. Which diminishes the effect your bench provides. They also aren't much for forcing veterans into days off. In the last 4 years there were plenty options amongst the fill in starters for the bench to get some innings. But now with what they hope to be a fixed lineup, they could sit a lot. This year is going to be very unlike any we have seen here in years!
  16. Which BP are you referring to? Brewers? Twins?
  17. I watched it a couple times, and when they ran a mid inning fast recap, the closeup seemed he was off line of where the ball landed. That said, if he would have caught it, I think most of TD would have had to have their foot medically removed from their mouth. But a good defensive player could have got it. I imagine he will catch the common stuff, but the tough stuff will negate some of his offensive production. I still think an injury will end it long before ability, or the lack thereof does.
  18. HEY be careful, those people behind you are all driving the wrong way!
  19. They are giving the second launch key and the last 27 digits of the code to Brian. Even if they could find him in ND he won't remember all those numbers!
  20. Tommorrow the Twins will announce that due to the rain delay the BP is overtaxed and they are going with 13 pitchers.
  21. I have already made it through my fifth! I think I will try a litre next!
  22. Skip the liquor store, and be home by the second inning!
  23. Proof reading can on occasion be carried to an extreme!
  24. How do they intend to stop the rain? If I can find out, I may get my driveway in tomorrow after all!
