  1. This exactly. I hope De Leon does well. The Twins didn't find a package they liked. Simple as that.
  2. https://thebaseballcodes.com/2017/05/30/hats-off-to-bryce-harper-ill-considered-hbp-spawns-ill-considered-response-to-ill-considered-mound-charge/ Turbow's take on the incident. He surmises that the fact that both Posey and Crawford were late to the fracas suggests Strickland "had been making clubhouse pronouncements about his intention to get Harper, even in the face of veteran teammates advising him against it."

  4. Frankly, I'm ok with all of them and I sort of like alternating them around. I voted for Hunter because I think he might become really, really good at this.
  5. I think that's probably unlikely. I suspect a lot of work places have the occasional push that everyone accepts. I suspect if you go to your gym or YMCA, you'll see normal adults pushing and shoving. And this idea that players should conduct themselves to the code of your work setting is silly and really not relevant. Not every post on baseball brawls has to devolve into "he should have called the cops." It's ok to sit back and enjoy things that are silly and baseball brawls are silly.
  6. Hey, what happened to that funny twitter post?
  7. A few years ago, he got plunked by Cole Hamels on purpose. Instead of charging the mound, he took first and then proceeded to steal home and made Hamels look like an idiot. And the umps probably would have tossed Strickland today even if the fight hadn't started. That said, I'm ok with Harper's reaction.
  8. There isn't (at least not anymore). That's why Posey didn't try to stop Harper. Apparently Strickland is a hot head who is not well loved in his own clubhouse.
  9. I'm sorry about your brother.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nationals-vs-giants/2017/05/29/490873#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=490873 This is more like your traditional baseball fights and we learn that throwing a batting helmet is really hard to do.
  11. I thought he should have been fired last year but there's no way Molitor is the manager next year. He's got this year on his contract. Levine and Falvey aren't going to extend him but Pohlad probably won't let him get fired.
  12. Yeah, I agree. The exciting thing about this drafts is that, with all this young talent, people are going to slide you had no idea would get to the mid 30s. Last year I wanted the Twins to nab Dakota Hudson, a consensus top 15 prospect but he slipped to the Cards at 34.
  13. FTFY But I do hope Meyer does well for LA.
  14. Another mock from BA - http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2017-mlb-mock-draft-3-5/ Have the Twins taking Wright and Heliot Ramos at 35. Ramos is a pretty exciting player from Puerto Rico, a place the Twins have obviously not been afraid of drafting from. If he's available at 35/37, he seems like a good bet to get drafted.
  15. This sucks. He missed all of last year and now gets TJ surgery? Gad.
  16. Nice post. I think one thing that fans and stats are starting to look at more is "the plan" a pitcher has. Keri noted Santana's attack plan against Gallo and how effective it is. If he command his pitches, he's still got decent stuff but he's executing a lot better. Those inside pitches weren't on the plate where Gallo can crush them. He's throwing stuff the batter wastes to get ahead in the count and then induces weak contact down or away. It's been working. Berrios seemed similar. I wonder how much of this is credit to Castro?
  17. I think the Hurt cover is probably #1. Alice in Chains and Gretchen Wilson covering Barracuda a few years back was fun to watch. Not unique but I liked it better than the original.
  18. I'm really excited about those young draft picks from last year, particularly Miranda. I really like that we drafted Miranda, Baddoo and Rortvedt (and Jordan Belovozic). Rortvedt is already in A ball, the other three were 17 when they were drafted. I think, after we see them physically develop more, we will see significant jumps in their prospect rankings.
  19. This is slightly off topic but funny. And the comments about Beckinsale are even funnier. http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/important-i-would-not-bone-a-vampire-1795551127
  20. I think we can stay competitive in the AL Central. We're not as good as the Yankees and Astros but we might be able to stay in the AL Central and/or wild card races. Here's a fun stat. After starting 2 for 50 in his first 15 games, Buxton, in his last 25 games, has hit .260/.365/.384. His strike out rate in those games is still a bit high at 27% but his walk rate is a very solid 14%. The Twins are 17-8 since he started hitting. I think the offense can carry the team for the most part. They probably aren't going to win 90 games but 85 seems doable. That OF defense is great - there's no wonder Santana and Berrios aren't giving up many hits, if it stays in the yard, those guys are catching it. That's legit. Pitching is the great concern of course but we'll see. There is reason for optimism.
  21. I thought the Twins released Melo? I like Belozovic a lot. That was a nice draft pick with a lot of potential upside. He'll just need time.
