  1. Nice to see Buxton collecting hits. Hopefully a couple months at AAA and he'll be ready to come back.
  2. I would guess that Meyer will get a start after Milone's outing yesterday, regardless of anything else. With Gibson on the DL, they could run out Hughes/Santana/Berrios/Nolasco/Meyer for a couple turns to see what they have and make moves when Gibson is ready to come back.
  3. So Berrios is added to the 40 man roster so I do think that means the Twins will go with a two man bench for the next week unless they can call Polanco back when/if Santana/Duffey goes to the DL?
  4. Wednesday? SHOOT. I have an event I have to be at. Can they move the start time back a few hours?
  5. Several Cy Youngs, a WS MVP and a HOF career.
  6. Yeah, in a perfect world, he probably gets squeezed out of the corner OF spots but he could, as you say, be a nice piece for a trade. Hopefully he breaks out this year. He's still fairly young for AA even though he is repeating it. Perhaps he'll be like Plouffe and the power won't come until much later?
  7. The outings by Meyer and Stewart are really encouraging. I'd be thrilled if the Twins just plugged Meyer into the ML rotation and let him start 20 games for us, just to see him at this level.
  8. Velocity won't be a problem. That's just a timing adjustment and all ballplayers make those as a matter of course. The hard part for him will be the adjustments to breaking stuff and he looked pretty good on this hometand against that.
  9. Yeah, he had a really nice homestand for us. Good to see.
  10. Yeah, the Twins have some nice exciting young pitchers down there. Kudos to the development group. I know Stewart and Jay were supposed to be studs but Jorge seems to be bouncing back from the disaster season he had a few years ago and Gonsalves was a 4th round pick (although maybe he fell b/c of some character issue? I don't think he was first round talent but maybe 2nd?). It's also nice to see Luke Bard pitching well after all those injuries. I hope he gets promoted to AA soon.
  11. On Gordon: Last year one of the BP guys put a 70 FV (future value) on him. That guy was a limb by himself but other BP guys defended the call, saying it wasn't crazy. The basis of the 70 grade (by one guy) was that Gordon had shown he'd be able to stick at short at the ML level and his bat was a plus bat for a shortstop. So you were looking at a strong defensive short stop who would hit among the top 5 at his position (less power, better on-base). Hence, the 70. Others (obviously) weren't as high on him but still, that's awesome.
  12. That's a really good point. Last year, I thought Mike Nikorak might be a nice sleeper pick for someone and he slid all the way to 27. There will be some nice talent at 15 although we might not nab the right guy. Should still be fun to watch.
  13. Out of curiosity, who does Klaw have at #15?
  14. Yeah, they could, I suppose. The NL only has 9 teams trying this year. And they have a massive payroll advantage that should keep them in the hunt while the AL looks more even. But they won't make the playoffs 5x in 7 years. Only a handful of teams have been able to pull that off.
  15. You might be putting the cart before the horse. They had a good year last year but, like the Twins, they sucked until last year.
  16. Dang, mlb has to update their list .... So he's probably not going to be at 15 is what you're saying? While we're on the topic, anyone know how Kyle Cody and Funkhowsier are looking this year?
  17. Yeah, he also said it was a thin pool at the top. Reminds me of the 2000 draft, which sucked.
  18. Any thoughts on Nick Senzel (mlb #14) or Bobby Dalbec (mlb #15)? Both play third in decent colleges.
  19. Man, I bet Jed Hoyer probably had a say or two in the decisions ... I think Theo is a fine and I also think he's an overrated. He's had massive financial advantages that people seem to want to ignore. It's still probably a bit early to make a decision on these drafts. Since 2012, only 5 players (Bryant, Buxton, Schawber, Duffey and Zack Godley) have even had a cup of coffee in the majors from these drafts. But we're also getting off track.
  20. Actually, it's kind of an interesting comparison. Since the 2012 draft, and just going over the first five rounds, the two teams have picked (I don't think I missed anyone but I might have): HS pitchers Twins 3 Cubs 7 HS bats Twins 4 Cubs 2 College pitchers Twins 14 Cubs 7 College bats Twins 2 Cubs 6 Johnson seems to have changed the draft strategies that Radcliff had. The three HS pitchers (Berrios, Gonsalves and Stewart) have some upside and fans have been clamoring for that for years. Still not sure I'm sold on his college fire ballers approach but he's sticking to it. Cubs seem to be more even but ignore HS bats. (But, SSS and all). I think some of the picks (Buxton at 2, Bryant at 3) were pretty obvious picks but picks like Schwaber and Jay might tell us more about the teams draft strategies.
  21. Nice write up. I think a college bat who can play third would be nice to nab.
  22. Good list. I really like Cabbage and he'll start showing up on a lot of sleeper lists soon. I'd probably add his draft mate Blankenhorn to the list, as well. I really liked those two picks. I think Gordon could sky rocket up the top 100 lists this season. He can play short and his power should begin to show. I don't know if he'll break out but I'm really interested in seeing how well Turner can hit. He had a decent amount of walks in AA last year. Hopefully, he can be a bit more than Drew Buetera.
