  1. I think Kiriloff should have been moved to AA awhile ago. He isn't being challenged by pitchers there and I think the Twins should have sent him to a level where he'd struggle a bit. Lewis did struggle a bit at A+ and isn't anymore so they should've done the same for him.
  2. Happens all the time. Wilson Ramos fell from 60 to 95 or so the year we traded him. Aaron Hicks fell every year. There are hundreds of guys in the majors right now who went backwards on prospect rankings.
  3. Wow, Wells is second in whip. I hadn't realized quite how nice his season had been.
  4. Shopify making money off of Canada's pot sales. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/introducing-newest-marijuana-stock-shopify-122100578.html
  5. Sure, he was trending down for some and up for others. He'll be on most top 100 lists next year.
  6. He's 22 and in AAA. He'll be on nearly all top 100 prospect lists next year. His struggles in the second half of the year and in AAA are worrisome but the rankers will still have him listed.
  7. I like Gonsalves but let's slow down a bit. His upside is probably a #4 type, similar to Mejia. He's walking nearly 5 guys per 9. He can't pitch deep into games - he's averaged less than 6 innings in his last 10 starts, for instance. It takes him 100 pitches to get through 6 innings in AAA. Right now, ML lineups will sit back, make him throw strikes and it'll make an Odorizzi start look fast.
  8. Might be tired. I think he's approaching or already passed the most innings he's thrown.
  9. Gordon gets a couple of walks today. He's had a few nice games in a row. Good to see.
  10. Kiriloff actually lowered his krate in A+. Sure, he's walk rate is only 4% but if you're hitting .370, that's ok. I'd be worried if he was striking out 20% but it's only 15% so I really think the Twins should challenge him over the last month or so and push him to AA.
  11. Yep and I wrong to say he was in low A when he was in high A. That's a plus for him. He's thrown 100 innings since we drafted him. I think it's best to just let him pitch and worry about rankings and such later. I was certainly wrong when I suggested a few months ago that he was a non-prospect. But he has a long way to go. Hopefully he makes it to the majors.
  12. He's 23 and put up a 2-1, 3.41 era, 60ip, 7 k/9, 0.9 bb/9 line in low A ball. There are some encouraging things going on for him but he's not remotely a better prospect than Zack Littell, our current #20 or his teammate Jordon Balzovic, our current #30. With Jax, we just have to be patient and let him throw some innings and see how it comes together.
  13. I would assume the FO thinks that Austin will be at least a bench bat next year, right?
  14. I don't expect all of them to pan out but I do expect some of them to pan out. It's not quite fair to compare these acquired prospects to "all prospects" in the sense that most prospects are just org filler. These guys clearly are not. But I do think that fans should expect the FO to make good trades. We've moved a lot of guys in the last year or so and we'll see what the returns are but if Garcia, Escobar, Kinztler, Lynn, Pressly and Duke (am I forgetting others?) are traded away for nothing in the long run, then it means our FO has some explaining to do. Doesn't mean they made a mistake necessarily but they have some explaining.
  15. Disagree. The org wants Buxton to get as many at-bats as possible. He hasn't even had 190 at-bats combined yet this season. I can't imagine having him get pinch hit for helps his confidence at all, either. He got 40 at bats to start the season then out for 10 days for migraines. Then he got 4 at bats and then missed 19 days because of his foot. Then 50 at bats before another three weeks to the DL. Then 80 at at bats before missing another 19 days or so. Now he's had all of 8 plate appearances since his most recent comeback. He really needs to stay healthy but he needs at-bats. I don't think the org cares if Rochester wins or not. They need Buxton to get it going and benching him isn't going to do it.
  16. Like this trade more than Escobar. I know Pressley's had good numbers but I don't trust him to keep those k-numbers up.
  17. I like him a lot. I think I read a Matt Lawton comp on him somewhere, which is reasonable considering his patience at the plate. The fangraphs guy likes Baddoo probably the most of the prospect gurus out there and has suggested enough arm and instincts to stick in CF but also having enough bat if he needs to move to a corner.
  18. shopify was a nice stock that I'm pretty sure I bought on advice from some guy on a baseball message board. I've made 15k on that one. I almost bought nvidia for my IRA but bought T instead. That was a big mistake. (Adobe has been on a heck of a run the last few years as well). My wife and I have a nice pile of cash right now so we're starting to look again at stocks and funds to buy but we might hold for a bit. I'm still considering TESLA but probably won't. Big oil stocks might be worth buying if you're ok with owning oil.
  19. GM had a rough day and blamed it on the trade war Trump's making. Might be worth watching the stock a bit and see if it'll fall more and buy relatively low. Nice dividend stock, too. Not sure I really want GM in my portfolio.
  20. I'm not sure this is fair. He'll turn 24 after the season. Yes, strike outs are a concern and I think most of us have noted that. But he's still a darn nice prospect. He was in BA's top 100 pre-season and Sickel's list as well. My guess is that next year he'll be a back end top 100 guy on most lists after this season. He's not Kris Bryant but that doesn't mean he's not a good prospect.
  21. Too early to tell but Feliz got 260k in 2016 to sign. Heredia signed the same year but his bonus isn't listed. I couldn't find anything on the other two guys but most of these guys are Venezuelan. Twins have had good in-roads to Venezuela for years now and that country is going through a lot of rough things so I think - and this is just a guess - that the Twins are probably nabbing a bunch of bodies from Venezuela, hoping that a few end up sticking.
