    I'd say either a) They're two separate groups of idiots who've somehow accumulated hundreds of millions of dollars who are now going to invest those millions in a money-losing operation Or b) They're two separate groups who feel sorry for the Pohlads and are investing out of the goodness of their collective hearts Or c) They're two separate groups who've managed to accumulate hundreds of millions who believe it'll be a sound investment that'll pay off in the future. Meaning the Twins ain't losing money. I'll go witb c.

    Because the Twins are so bereft of C options one can squint enough to put forth the opinion he's currently the best choice. He's certainly no worse than 2nd best. They aren't going to go with 1 C on the team, and losing 1 C to the IL (who himself is one of the worst hitters in MLB) put them here. Not losing 3 Catchers. Not 2. One. More fine GM'ing evidenced. Now the DH nonsense, you can place that on the huge pile of crap at Rocco's doorstep. He (or his equivalent) has to be rostered. He doesn't have to be written into the lineup when not actually catching.

    There are no easy positions to fill. I mean, somebody will stand there at 1st tonight and all next year. That part is easy. Getting a player that helps you win is difficult. At. Every. Position.

    Well, Rocco is a bad manager. Really bad. But I don't think he can be blamed for Buxton not stealing 3rd.

    Two things: Buxton has never stolen 3rd in his career. Dont know why, but it is what it is. Buxton was the Manfred man in the 11th. His run would have been to tie, not game over.

    This sort of stuff can be looked up. Rocco is 45-55 as a manager in extra inning games. Under .500 in 5 of 7 seasons (including 2025 to date) 132-131 in 1-run games. Above .500 in 4 of 7 seasons. Also interesting, as a manager: He's 66% as likely as the average manager to have his team attempt to steal 2nd over his career. Below MLB average in every year of his career. 38% as likely stealing 3rd. Below average every year. 58% as likely to sac bunt. Below average every year. 80 percent as likely to issue IBBs. Below average every year except 1. 20 percent above average in pinch hitters, 14 percent above average in pinch runners.
