  1. Update: Twins still not in 'em. I'll update again tomorrow.
  2. The Guardians are like 446-1 in close games vs the Twins in recent years. That's not just all luck. Part of that is Baldelli getting owned.
  3. I've done so multiple times in multiple ways, starting last season.
  4. No objective analysis of Baldelli could reasonably conclude he was good at his job. His teams routinely sucked at the exact things a manager is directly responsible for. There are multiple things wrong with this Organization, for sure. Let's not pretend Baldelli wasn't one of them. A big one, at that.
  5. And the accent is on the second syllable. Jrej JOR ee
  6. Concur. And it actually was never announced. It was reported.
  7. So the goal is for the compression relief to continue after the botox wears off? Would Festa be able to resume throwing during this 3-4 months?
  8. Not at all interested in Jarren Duran. 29 years old. One outlier season.
  9. As usual, Falvey's corporate word salad actually said absolutely nothing, while allowing everyone listening to believe it said whatever the listener wants to hear.
  10. No rookie managers. Please.
  11. To be fair, they did ****can the pro scouting department.
  12. Bingo. I cant conceive of a way the Twins are actually $500M in debt. For one thing, there's no chance the three sons would have let young Joe stay in the job. And then everything you said. Makes zero sense. None.
  13. Is there a link to the presser?
  14. I think managers are supposed to find ways to get their teams to play the game well. Not hit. Not throw a curveball. Play the game. Know how, and then do it. Literally one of his primary tasks. At any level, in any team endeavor, inside or outside sports, leadership gets the level of execution it allows. If hitting the cutoff man doesnt matter to the manager, it won't matter to the people performing the task. I dont know how many times this needs to be explained. I'm not asking Rocco Baldelli to teach Royce Lewis to keep his back foot in place in the box. I'm asking Rocco Baldelli to demand his team play the game of baseball properly and find ways to ensure that happens. Cutoffs are hit and proper bases thrown to. Bases are run with intelligence and aggression. Throws are backed up. Opponents running games are controlled. On and on and on. The exact things that Baldelli led teams routinely and often did at a level below their opponents. It took till this year, ferpetesakes, for Baldelli to make BP mandatory. They STILL didn't regularly take infield. None of which addresses his many other weaknesses. Long overdue firing. Let's hope the Next Guy has a better understanding of how to get more from his personnel, rather than less.
  15. Overnight? No. Over time? Yes, that's one of his major responsibilities. Nice strawman though.
  16. The Twins invested the first three years of Lewis's minor league career at SS. 275 games. He had 20 minor league games at 3rd prior to MLB. 12 of those were AFL games where another team supplied the manager.
  17. I'm thinking, Parfigliano would be drinking a cold brewski while thinking this through. Perhaps a couple cold brewskis. So that's what I'm doing.
  18. No. Rocco's performance as an MLB manager led to Rocco being fired.
  19. Not just defense, but poor fundamentals all around. The overall identity of Baldelli's teams. Fix it all. Be better at playing the game than other teams, rather than worse.. And BTW this is completely separate from talent. The Twins need talent upgrades sure. But they also need, as an organization, a return to valuing and emphasizing playing the game correctly. That concept has been scoffed at for the entirety of Baldelli's tenure, right from day 1.
  20. There should be no talk of hiring existing managers away from their current jobs. That's not happening.
  21. I don't disagree. But I'm still happy that one of the things that needs doing was done.
  22. It didn't require genius level insight, or inside information, to arrive at the obvious conclusion that Baldelli's job might (finally) be in jeopardy.
  23. I doubt anyone thinks he should have won a WS with this crew. He should have won more than he did. His teams routinely sucked at the parts of the game a manager has direct control over. Winning 82 with a team that should win 88 is as bad as winning 92 with a team that should win 98. We need a guy who wins more than he should. Not less.
