    after taxes and agent fees and expenses, hes probably got a couple million in the bank. But that's not going to set up a 20 something for a lifetime of luxury. I think an extension, with say 25 million guaranteed, would be very tempting. And not all that risky for the Twins. As for now, get him back up to MN.

    I’m not going to be happy about it, no matter how many times you tell me to be happy about it. A baseball season, to me, isn’t something to be tossed into the trash can so lightly. We only get to enjoy one per year. And for the record, You are vastly overstating the impossibility that a baseball team can come back from a half dozen games down in July. It’s been done before, it’ll be done again.

    Yeah, I see Kepler make contact up and in, but it’s all bat handle, or late. Or both.

    Well they clearly aren’t ready today, after dropping 20 percent from the top of their roster. “That wasn’t going to happen this year” is more opinion than fact, however. I’m willing to bet I can find the same posts from the same posters last year, confidently proclaiming the Twins had no shot.

    The front office essentially did exactly that last year. Added, then sold, in the space of a week. And they turned out to be wrong, BTW.

    I agree, Ervin. They took away a lot of your good pieces. It's a shame. It might have been necessary, or even smart, but it's still not what I want to see my front office do...Give up. Shameful.

    When I watch Kepler, the problem I see is he gets eaten up by FB's up and in, regularly. That's death in the big leagues.

    As Mike noted, they are not remotely comparable situations.

    The trick, of course, is in knowing who to show patience with. There was no upside in showing patience with Alexi Casilla, for example, but we got half a decade of repeated attempts to put him in the lineup, with few other options. What were they hoping Casilla could turn in to? And of course, to be both a good team and show patience, you have to have enough well above average players to make up for the below average production from the guy(s) you’re being patient with.

    Cave MAY end up a viable 4th OFer, but they cannot pretend he’s a viable regular CFer.

    I think Harmon was probably the best to ever wear a Twins uniform, but Kirby had the greatest impact.

    He was worth more in the Twins lineup over the last two months, even at a remote chance of catching Cleveland, than the org filler they received in return.
