  1. No. PED use was widespread, and lasted for more than a decade.
  2. Donaldson makes so much sense, in so many ways. Not as good as signing a top level pitcher would have been, but it would help prevent runs.
  3. I read it as "game one playoff exit," because we all knew it was over when the Twins curled into the fetal position about halfway into game one.
  4. WE bend the narrative? You posted twice that no team traded for a pitcher last deadline.
  5. Even restricting it to "the deadline," someone traded for Grienke, no? Would Houston fall under your definition of a successful team? If we could expand that to last offseason, Washington--somewhat successful--added Patrick Corbin to a team that already had Sherzer and Strassburg.
  6. Adrianza to fill their hole at 3rd, and Gordon to fill the hole at SS should do it. Might have to throw in Duensing.
  7. You also have a 33% chance of missing on all three, PLUS a 100% chance of not getting the help for the present day team you needed.
  8. This has been asked, and answered, repeatedly. One last try: sign one of the top 5 FA starting pitchers. Don't try, don't give up, don't take "well, my fiance kinda prefers New Jersey" for an answer. Get it done. It's their job.
  9. Ignoring the questionable calling of one consecutive ALC championship "dominating the Central," this reads like an apology for a failed offseason. "We can't actually be one of the best teams, but maybe we can get lucky."
  10. The offseason was a failure when Ryu went off the board. The Twins needed to add one of those "impact" free agent pitchers. They didn't. Failure. This isnt rocket science, and no matter how the season turns out, this was a swing and miss. As many have pointed out, decision making should be judged based on what's known at the time, not after results come in. They can still make the offseason better, but they cant make it a success.
  11. Pay Donaldson, or pay AND give up prospects for Bryant, and have less years of control. Let me think about that... ... No.
  12. "As human beings we tend to experience a result and then go back and retroactively create a narrative to fit whatever happened." Perhaps I'm misreading this line from the article...isn't that what you're asking us to do? Wait until the 2020 WS is over before judging the current offseason?
  13. “You watch the news, you watch Wheel (of Fortune), you watch your stories, and you go to bed,” he said. Except for League Bowling night. http://www.melindajacobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/MelindaJoeMaurRonGardenhire1.jpg
  14. Incredible resource for Twins fans. Thanks to everyone who makes it happen. For free, I might add.
  15. Raises hand. I thought Bryce Harper would be, indeed, more or less than Max Kepler.
  16. 1. He might hit a bomba. 2. He might walk. 3. He might hit a bomba.
  17. Not rocket science, but let's get our facts straight. He's made the "qualifying number of plate appearances" 2 of the last 4 years, not 1... 2016 and 2019 (700 and 659, respectively.) He missed by less than 10 PA in 2017 (496 PAs). He's 34, a 4 year contract takes him through his age 37 season. DH is open after this season. There are mild concerns about age, but plenty of players play well into their mid 30s, particularly those with power and plate discipline. And Donaldson has a history of strong durability. You're vastly overstating age concerns.
  18. Do you mean this year (2020)? I come up with $63.8M this year (Pineda 10, Gonzalez 9, Romo 5, Hill 3, Avila 4.75, Clippard 2.75, Cruz 12, Odo 17.8) . Am I missing someone? If you're talking about next year (2021), I think it's $0.25M (Romo's buyout).
  19. You should probably do some research before posting stuff like this.
