  1. 69 PAs isn't much to base that on, is it? He posted a career .712 OPS in AAA in over 600 PAs. I'm not sure, of course, but if I'm betting the over/under on "average everyday MLB corner outfielder" for Wade, I'm betting the under.
  2. There's one CF on the roster, Buxton. Kepler can play CF in a pinch. Cave and Wade shouldn't see CF except in an emergency. Rosario isn't even a good left fielder.
  3. I assume the reason he's still unsigned is serious health concerns. Minor league deal with an invite, sure. But if he was worth a major league contract and roster spot, he would already have one.
  4. Pillar makes a lot of sense.
  5. You dont want to "jam them into the lineup" in 2021, but you want to jam them into the lineup in 2020. I dont follow the logic. As for counting on prospects, they're certainly putting faith young pitching in 2020. Hope it works. But they're certainly NOT putting any faith in position player prospects. Rightfully so, IMO. If we get to 2021 and they're forced into putting Kirilloff in LF, worry about that then.
  6. As for Donaldson affecting 3 minor leaguers, I sure HOPE Donaldson plays well enough to lock up 600 PAs a year for the next half decade. That's the best case scenario...he doesnt leave room for anyone else at 3rd for 2 or 3 years and then takes some time away to DH. Who cares if it costs any of these 3 prospects PAs? What is the goal here?
  7. They "commit roster space to a less talented player" because he's the most talented player they have access to, to fill a need for a bench player capable of filling in at multiple infield positions, including SS. It's not a wasted spot. And the fact he IS a less talented player means he's not going to get as much playing time as Polanco. Not nearly as much, no matter who went 2 for 3 yesterday, or 0 for 3. Nor should he. You cant just let Adrianza get 600 PAs to confirm he's not as good as Polanco. You already know that, or at least believe it strongly enough that no manager is going to take those 600 PAs and willingly give them to Adrianza. Or any other backup. Which isn't to say you dont need backups, of course you do.
  8. E Rodriguez - this one wont Bloom. Just wanted to say...I've seen some posts in my day, but this. Is. Awesome.
  9. Good to know. Have Cleveland and Chicago been informed? How does this work? Do we still go through with the formality of the regular season?
  10. The Twins needed to add to the top of the rotation when the offseason started. They havent. The answer seems self evident.
  11. Manfred's memo regarding electronic sign stealing came out in 2017, and made very clear it wouldn't be tolerated, and that team management would be held responsible. That's why the punishments in Houston were for cheating in 2017. They knew exactly what they were doing, and why they shouldn't be doing it.
  12. I took the comment to mean Kirk Cousins, but I could be wrong.
  13. Nitpic: $21m per season, 2020-23. $8m buyout, or $16m in 2024.
  14. Donaldson has put up a .900 OPS 4 of the last 5 years, including 2019. Mauer's last .900 OPS came as a 26 year old in 2009. The simple fact is, Mauer wasnt in Donaldsons class as a hitter after age 26. Certainly age will catch up to Donaldson. But there's zero reason to think that will be immediate. And he's not really any more of an injury risk than any other player.
  15. Concur. But... This is way better than not signing Donaldson. He is a legitimate impact player, and helps both the lineup and the defense. 150 games would be a real upgrade.
  16. Hate to be that guy, but this is just more proof that the Pohlads are cheap, cheap, cheap!!1! He wanted $110 and they only gave him $92.
  17. Given health, the Twins opening day lineup will contain six--SIX--players who hit 30 HRs in 2019. After they went for like 2 decades without a single such hitter.
  18. That was a Cardinal groundskeeper. And it was "they turn on a fan when the Twins are batting."
  19. I know, right? Neutral defense, but with a poor attitude.
  20. Might as well be, he can't play 1st Who's on first.
  21. None. We spent the first half of last year marveling over Cron's defense.
  22. Should the Twins have to void any games won in 2019 in which Pineda appeared?
