He also threw like 158 pitches to get through the inning, so as has become SOP the guy not usable for a game or 2 is the chosen Uber customer. Just another thing about 2023 MLB baseball I'm not a fan of...the revolving door at the back of the pen. I get the reasoning, but it's...unseemly. I'd like to have some sort of idea of who I'm cheering for. At least some level of attachment.

On a different note, I'd say the question of who goes to St Paul to make room for Maeda has been settled.

More awesome baseball from our favorite nine tonight. To me it looks like everyone from the manager on down expects to lose, and are just going through the motions. The stench of defeat is strong.

One more time: Buxton doesnt take BP. Cage work is something different. Artificial light, pitching machine, controlled pitches. One last time: I want the manager to manage. That includes mandatory times practicing hitting and fielding, for everyone. No exceptions. And when things aren't going well, more of the same, and/or sitting players who don't feel the need to participate fully. And I think publicly stating what he's doing, and why, is in everyone's best interests.

I was sort of excited to see Varland come up, but he's done nothing to keep his spot in the rotation. Not surprising to me. He'll be back, someone will get hurt or traded or ineffective. Meantime, insert Maeda, would be my guess. Friday in Detroit? One of Balazovic or Headrick down.
