One thing it does is force an infielder to decide which base the relay goes to. If its going to be close at home, you might steal a run by having the relay go to third instead.

Just so we're all clear, Vazquez has an OPS 80 some points below Kepler.
I realize it's at catcher, and offense is hard to find, but so far the Vazquez addition has been pretty iffy.
That seems like a new development then. He came up May 29, and played complete games May 29 and 30, and June 1-4. Off day, then didn't play June 6th. Off June 10, 12, and today.
My guess is he's having issues.
I will also say fangraphs move to a statcast based range factor for UZR based defense measurements is a step in the right direction, but...
I don't trust defensive measurements at all, and UZR is particularly poorly thought out.
Not to mention, they overvalue defense, and "positional adjustments" are dumb.
I'll give Rocco credit for pinch running Castro, and then letting him steal second base as the tying run in the 9th.
I feel like maybe that's not something he would have done, even recently.
