  1. On our list of "most trusted relievers" are a guy who isn't even a reliever, a guy who was DFA'd and nobody wanted, IL members, and current minor leaguers. Of note, the front office's big deadline acquisition is below all the avove. Tremendous work, Falvine.
  2. This move is sort of the definition of doing something to soften the optics of doing nothing. Unless you think our front office really thought this was a move that'd truly help the pen. Geez I hope not. So why else?
  3. "Develop a pitcher"? In two months?? That's absurd. Besides which, they're trying to reach the postseason. Even if you could somehow erase years of results and reinvent a 30 plus year old junkballer--which nobody else coukd do--you think they have room to do that NOW?
  4. No. That'd be stupid. He's 38. This is his best season in 5. And it's not that good. They hit 16 and caught a 4. No reason to try to hit 17 next year.
  5. Over 1400 minor league PAs at a .904 OPS. OBP over .400. Pretty solid record of hitting talent.
  6. 1st baserunners since the 4th inning.
  7. My knowledge of Google, more like
  8. At least Mathews gave enough IP tonight so as not to totally burn the pen.
  9. I believe it's an organizational philosophy.
  10. Double steal and it appeared neither the catcher or pitcher even noticed. Infielders were shocked.
  11. He had time to get Richards ready. Richards started warming after Jax. After the, ah, blown lead.
  12. I'd say it's 3.5 back. There won't be a half game at the end of the season, and we need to finish a full game ahead.
  13. Keep selling this bull****. I'll keep calling out the manager for watching a reliever blow a 4 run lead. He had Jax up. Slow the GD game down. Have Maki take 3 minutes to amble out, wait for the ump, amble back. Step off and toss it to 2nd base. Have the catcher call time and five signals. Amble out to remove Alcala. And on and on. Any manager who wanted to could have had Jax ready, at LEAST by Garcia's AB. He CHOSE not to.
