    Seth, I really appreciate you writing this article. In the 8 years that I lived in SW New Mexico, I was one of the 'Founding Fathers' of The Friends of The Healing House. The Healing House is a domestic violence center located in Deming, NM. My job as President was to lead "The Friends" through the 501c3 application and the IRS non-profit status, introduction of The Friends into the community and basic building of "The Friends". Fund raising is always a challenge. I ran across this just last week: Amazon Smile. It's Amazon' charitable arm, will 1 million charities listed. The Friends of The Healing House is on the list. "The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers."     After watching the changes being made to Berrios' and Duffey's pitching mechanics at the MLB level makes me question the MiLB development system as a whole. Yeah, I'm the guy who's been advocating patience with these call-ups, but changing their windups? That's not a small thing.

    Just stumbled on this article in MLB Rumors. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ Brief bio on Sawdaye: Red Sox vice president of international and amateur scouting. Snippet: The Twins are in contention for Sawdaye. A report indicated Falvey has the final say on the GM choice. [i thought that last part was written in stone. Whatever.] Last sentence: Given that the Twins are in contention for Sawdaye, it’s reasonable to suggest he could become Falvey’s second-in-command.

    Same, here. Not willing to move him around just yet or off 3rd just yet. Need to see what kind of shape he's in coming into Spring Training. Show me the dedication and take it from there.

    Eduardo Escobar needs to be back with the Twins. 1st I think he's the Twins starting Short Stop. He also filled in at 3rd last year. 2nd, I don't really believe Polanco is a starting SS right now. As far as being graceful defensively, Polanco and Sano are on the same level. Not good, not hideous :-) Right now, I see Polanco as the utility guy getting a lot of playing time. Sano needs to hit more consistently to be a starting 3rd bagger. Plouffe doesn't HAVE to go. I just don't see a spot for him. Grossman should go. Slow-footed, mediocre arm. DanSan: I've always liked him, but realistically, is there a place for him? Go. I'm still working on the whole conversation with the new PoBO: Hey Derek Falvey, we really need to trade the guy that just hit 42 HR's last year. LOL

    Overall, I think the Twins [and Twins fans] need to get over this 100 mph thing. Occasionally throwing 100? Yeah, OK. But there's a lot more to pitching than just that. Bosher, Kintzler, etc. are band-aids. I'm not 100% all-in on 'tearing off the band-aids', but I'm also not on the side of holding back a MiLB'er if they have a great showing in spring training. In the end, it will be waiting on the Indians playoff run to end and hear and see what new PoBO Falvey has in mind and the marching orders he gives to Antony.

    Still don't understand the anger against Neil Allen. He became a pitching coach almost immediately after retiring as a player. Worked in the Independent Leagues for a while then became the Columbus Clippers pitching coach, introduced Chien-Ming Wang's sinker, which became his signature pitch. With the Twins, Allen has had to change Jose Berrios' windup. Now we read the story that Twins MiLB pitcher don't know how to use a fastball. I don't see a problem with Allen. Add in the MLB hitting adventures of Buxton, I seem more of a MiLB coaching problem. OK back to the article.... I sort of agree. There are many, young, players on the 25 man roster. Patience is needed before you find out what you really have i.e. Berrios, Buxton, Kepler, Rogers, Chargois, Light, Sano, et el. Starting pitching: If there is a good deal in trading Dozier, I wouldn't stick my nose up at it. Until someone develops quickly in the MiLB, I'd stick with what we have until something better is available. Shouldn't be a long wait.

    I assure you, my baseball skills had nothing to do with watching baseball on TV. But sure would have made for a convenient excuse. I would say screaming, belligerent parents are the main cause.

    With a 6 week schedule, I started to question the importance of AFL. For his 1st run in the MLB, I'm very happy with the overall results. The XBH's was a surprise / not from Max. With his defense [which also started out slowly] and 447 PA's to learn from, I see a big year next season for Max Kepler

    Yeah, these comments from Allen and Molitor really disturbs me. How can any pitcher in anyone's MiLB not learn fastball control is a #1 issue? And Berrios??? Get's called up to the MLB and in his last stint, Allen had to start re-teaching him how to pitch, starting with the windup? Maybe we should be looking more at the Twins MiLB development program?

    May: I think we can take him completely out of the RP discussion. He has, what sounds like, a congenital back problem that get's aggravated with more frequent use. With 4 days rest between starts, he still on occasion needs and extra day or 2 rest.

    Agree. Kintzler is a 1 inning pitcher. I think Perkins has the same problem as Kintler. Kintzler is also a sinkerballer. So a "5.8 K/9 rate" isn't bad, just not what people want to see. A WHIP of 1.233 is pretty good, even with those 8th inning appearances. I'm not promoting Kintzler as THE closer. Chargois improved a lot through the end of the season. I'd cross my fingers and put him in as A closer, i.e. Dual Closers. Tonkin is the one, youngish RP I don't really trust. I've seen him and a couple other young relievers choke when brought in with runners on. I guess we should assign that to youth / inexperience. I'm more for signing a Holland or Feliz to be in a co-closer role. Either way, any way or whatever way, Twins bullpen for next season is a fun topic!! Thanks, Nick !!

    Same here. I don't really understand the rush. We've got 2 serviceable guys and a bunch of young players all around. I think the Twins played Polanco a lot at SS last season as a 'wish and a prayer' that he could keep the job. IDK. Keeping Polanco in the MLB in 2017 is the right move.     You spread out the payments over time and reduce the payroll burden over that time. As far as the last part: I got nothing.

    I'm curious: how do Escobar and Polanco compare defensively at SS? I know Escobar was hurt once, maybe twice, last year. And then there's Polanco's SSS. Personally, I didn't think Polanco was all that bad. Are looked pretty good there. Footwork needs some help/experience. I know you're a lot better at looking this up than I am ;-)

    Financial. Twins Total Adjusted Salary is $111,732,610.00. Mauer's contract guarantee's $46,000.000.00 the final 2 years. I believe if you cut Mauer, those term's are still enforced. A son of a banker, and banker in his own right, wouldn't accept that. That's a lot of money over 2 years with nothing in return for that investment. Not sure about any "cap" affect. Like I said, if Jim Pohlad were to break that out into a package of some type [retirement payments, whatever], that would be more palatable. And probably takes that money off the Twins books. Not sure on that one, either And I'm also on the side that says: Let Joe retire with some dignity.

    The answer is No. The stats don't matter. Joe has a guaranteed contract thru 2018. As a GM for another team, would you, right now, trade for Joe Mauer and his $46M remaining? The best the Twins could do is ask Joe to accept a buy-out of some type. I suspect that might be a hard sell. The only way Joe leaves is on his own terms.

    Twins (7) Trevor Plouffe (5.162) – $8.2MM Hector Santiago (5.016) – $8.6MM Brandon Kintzler (5.003) – $2.2MM Eduardo Escobar (4.128) – $2.9MM Tommy Milone (4.113) – $4.9MM Kyle Gibson (3.056) – $3.5MM Ryan Pressly (3.053) – $1.1MM Sano is the full-timer at 3rd, backup inf are easy to find. There will be no trade, Plouffe is a non-tender. Santiago came on at the end of the year. IDK, but I wouldn't cry myself to sleep over him. Kintzler: the jump to MLB seems tougher for Twins prospects. At that price, I'm keeping Kintzler. Escobar: If Dozier is traded [i have my doubts on that] Polanco at 2B, Escobar at SS. If Dozier is not traded, competition is always good thing. Milone, Gibson & Pressly: Gibson may be tradeable, non-tender all 3. If you're rebuilding, rebuild.

    Grossman is a slow-footed LF with a mediocre throwing arm. Add to that, any ball going into the corner in left, Grossman had to spin around on those slow feet. Recipe for disaster. Granite, on the other hand, seems like a perfect 4th OF.
