  1. But we still need to see more of Byung Ho Park. And the Twins have a longer financial commitment to him. 3 years remaining, I believe.
  2. Park had season ending wrist surgery [damaged tendon on back of right hand]. This right after homering eight times in 10 games through late July. Because of the surgery, I have my doubts that any team would take Park and his salary. The July explosion makes me want to see more of Park.
  3. Highlight reel material !!
  4. Sid's column was posted on the 6th. 5 days later, no confirmation that I can find. Still, I find it possible that discussions were had [at the very least, end of season reviews]. If anything were to happen, Falvey would be the person doing that and that won't happen until the Indians are out of the playoffs. That won't be for awhile.
  5. Moving Dozier to a different position at this point in his career seems pretty foolish. Definitely trade him now before making a decision to lessen his skill level. Trevor Plouffe has turned into an inconvenience to many. Is Plouffe a better defender that Sano at 3rd? Absolutely no question. Can Sano develop into a better defender than he is now? I never say no. But, no, I highly doubt it. Is Sano a better hitter than Plouffe? Not really enough AB's to say for sure. Overall, yeah, Sano could be. Next season will be huge for Sano. Mauer: See post #17. The absolute best you can hope for is that Mauer's late season leg injury leads him to accept a contract buy-out. Ervin: The starting staff needs a veteran presence. As does the position players. Which leads to my final point: Are Twins Daily readers really ready for a couple more seasons of large losses? Dumping veterans for shiny, young plays seems like a great idea. And maybe some of the younger veterans [Rosario, Escobar, Park ] can step up and become the new leaders. [ I think it might do Rosario a world of good] IDK, but I'm more into seeing the development of Sano, Kepler, Buxton, Polanco, Berrios, Duffey, Rogers, Light, May, Chargios, Centeno, etc, etc., before lurching too far into a veteran dump.
  6. Details of Joe's contract: http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/joe-mauer-527/ Full NO-TRADE clause. Contract thru 2018.
  7. Personally, I would not assume that Falvey would just come in and start changing everything. He's an analytical-type person. They typically do not act that way.
  8. Well, Santana and Kinzler were pretty obvious picks for #'s 1 and 2. Except for someone http://31.media.tumblr.com/40ceb67a978526becfc7ba0996cf127f/tumblr_inline_nf743rkUAX1rd4gk8.gif This year, I'm just keeping my eye on the real prize: Development. There was the expected mix of good results, some not so good, some with a SSS/trending good and some 'why are you here??'
  9. Wasn't there a pretty signification change over in the Twins lineup this year, starting last year? Players leaving [OK, only Torii Hunter as anything signification] and MiLB players being brought up, this year and last? I think Bruno should get one more shot at it.
  10. MLB Rumors quote from Falvey: “It’s a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to lead the Twins baseball operation. This is a proud, resilient franchise, and I’m eager to return championship-caliber baseball to the Twin Cities,” says Falvey. “We will work diligently and collectively to select and develop top-performers, advance our processes, and nurture a progressive culture that will make fans across Twins Territory proud.” http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/10/derek-falvey-favorite-twins-front-office.html
  11. Pretty sure Falvey will be bringing in a few people from Cleveland...
  12. "The Twins announced, via Twitter, that Derek Falvey is their new Executive VP and Chief Baseball Officer... (as opposed to President of Baseball Operations)." fargin' iceholes......
  13. With the number of young people being brought up this year, I wonder if it's a good idea to dump an entire staff. For development reasons alone, I don't think a mass firing is a good idea.
  14. I point to the work Allen and staff have been doing with Jose Berrios. Not all there, but definitely improvement. Taylor Rogers has been trending up, as well. In the end, I'm betting Falvey goes for one of his pitching coaches from the Cleveland organization.
  15. Great stuff, Brock. When reviewing young players, I don't really look at stats that much. I look at mechanics. Buxton's been through a few changes in hitting mechanics this year. This last one ( more open stance, controlled leg kick, the death of the 'twisty foot' thingy ) seems to be the one that will enable Buxton to be the guy we're looking for. Leadoff hitter? IDK. May not have the OBP. #3 type hitter? Yeah, why not? Berrios has been in the same boat, mechanics-wise. Looks like the windup is set. Pitching from the stretch still needs some work. What happened to Berrios and Meyers in Houston was an abomination. Why the catcher never went to the mound to calm them down still really bugs me. Sending Sano and others to the mound yesterday is a step forward. The future is bright
  16. This is the "patience" stuff I've been mentioning this season. No, I won't post the link to that Red Sox article again. IDK: Sano, Kepler, Polanco, Buxton, and maybe Berrios, Rogers, Chargois, Pressley and Centeno? Pretty nice start and a nice group of young veterans. I would say things are looking really, really bright, if only we had some semblance of a MLB starting staff.
  17. Take the under next year.....
  18. Started with a Monty Python song, ending with another favorite: https://youtu.be/buqtdpuZxvk The Galaxy Song: http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/17800000/The-Meaning-of-Life-monty-python-17865212-852-480.jpg Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding, In all of the directions it can whiz; As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is. So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure, How amazingly unlikely is your birth; And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space, 'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!
  19. Damn that Polanco. What a crappy shortstop.....
  20. The Beer! The Beer! http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/16/164a5172be5d2b0427a29955494468dca1e71cce566cc7b3cd6a0ca0cf1a34be.jpg
