    Bounce along Gibson. They don't need an innings eater, nor a .500 pitcher. At age 29, these should be his best years. :-( IDK about Plouffe. It's a gamble letting him go and a gamble keeping him. Either way, there's injury and Sano concerns. Bounce back on Berrios, Rosario and Sano. If you can actually say "Bounce Back" on 3 young players. Year 3 of Rosario: I'm expecting a break through :-)

    I haven't seen Gonsalves pitch. Actually, I've never seen any MiLB game, except for a couple on ESPN. After reading scouting reports and asking on TD, Gonsalves isn't what I thought he was. If he gets a little stronger and can command his pitches, well, Greg Maddux didn't need no dang 100mph fastball.

    In the NWO of rating catchers, do we really care that much about offense? #1 is defense, especially with Twins pitchers. Give me a nice OBP and an occasional clutch hit to go with solid defense and I'm pretty good with that. Just need to have someone with experience to help Garver/Murphy along.

    Weird. But fun read. Buxton progressed a good amount in the latter part of the season. I think it at least 1 season too soon to look into a Crystal Ball.

    Park looked good for awhile there, then took a dive. Nothing to loss in giving him another MLB shot. Really, really hoping last year was just a sophomore slump for Rosario. He's really fun to watch [sometimes the bad stuff was hilarious!] and hope this is a big year for him. P.S. Joba freaking Chamberlain ??? P.S.S Get well soon Larry !

    I'm wondering if Park had that wrist injury earlier and just didn't tell anyone. At the end with the Twins, his AB's were pretty awful.

    Thanks for that! Question: are there advanced metric's for managers? It's one thing to voice an opinion [ like me ] but is there something that delineates between good and bad managers? If not, it would be interesting to see someone develop it. And how......

    Seems like catchers are becoming somewhat rare commodity. Twins should take a look.

    Agree. Need some players like Torii Hunter to help them along. With Berrios' start and Duffey's fall, a sound defensive catcher would be of great help.

    From MLBTR: "The Astros are known to want Castro back, while the Angels, White Sox, Orioles, Rays and Twins are among Houston’s AL rivals that could look to pick up some help behind the plate." 5 teams with more money and better winning percentages than the Twins [ Rays are in the ballpark ]. My bet is the Twins would have to overpay for Castro to get him. New management, new structure, new attitudes: Sure, it could actually happen.

    I think people make a lot of assumptions about Molitor, like he's old school and would never use advanced metrics. "Jack Goin, I trust a lot." says it all. Information, scouting reports have always been out there. Advanced metrics helps to quantify what the eyeball test sees. Butch Wynegar? Not against the idea. I'd like Chili Davis a lot more.

    For people [like me] who didn't remember what happened: "The trade of Valencia comes as no surprise. He was rumored to be on the trading block ahead of the 2016 trade deadline, but the A’s never found a deal to their liking. The likelihood of a trade then increased in August, when Valencia was involved in a physical altercation with teammate Billy Butler in the visiting clubhouse in Chicago. The incident resulted in Butler suffering a concussion, which forced him out of action for a week."

    Personally, I don't agree with Bruno's dismissal. He got Dozier out of a early season funk and into a 40 HR season. He worked with Buxton and got him looking like a MLB hitter towards the end of the season. Also, late in the year, he got Sano to start using a more level swing. His upper-cut swing became so profound, umpires stopped calling STRIKE and would yell FORE instead

    If Gonsalves went into the AFL with a back/shoulder strain, why was he allowed to pitch at all? Doesn't make sense to me....

    I believe both will be focused on roster changes right now. And I expect those changes will be minimal until Falvey get's this part of the organization organized. Falvey has already stated that there will be expanding the scouting, metrics and other parts of the organization, along with changes on how things are taught in the MiLB. The easy translation of that is: "We need time to catch up with the rest of the league in those departments." From that same article, they are asking around the league what other's think of Twins players. Throw in their own 'outsider' evals from their Cleveland and Texas days, that's a pretty great start. I also think that with the influx over the past 2 years of a not so insignificant number of MiLB'ers is a reason to pause before jumping into anything resembling a full rebuild.

They have done their thing in AZ between spa visits. Sounds to me like the strategy is much like yours: Stand pat while we figure things out. From the article: "their next objective once they return to Target Field won't be strengthening the Twins' 40-man roster but the organizational chart. Falvey and Levine have been given the go-ahead by owner Jim Pohlad to greatly expand the team's management, adding expertise in a number of areas it has lacked." "We're going to be active on the major league front. We have a good grasp on some possibilities for us to explore," Levine said. "But there is no mandate that we do anything dramatic right away." I'm still hoping for some trade movement....

    Yeah, how much MLB prizes pitching over position players is kinda hard to figure out. For Dozier, and if we're talking about MiLB player in return, I would want at least 3 player in return? 1 short-term MLB ready pitcher plus 2 AA pitching prospects or 1 AAA pitching prospect + 2 AA pitching or catching prospect. I was just throwing out Escobar as a possible trade because the Twins should be bringing up a few more MiLB players and there's gonna be some backfilling needed. I like Escobar.

    Good Stuff, Doc! I'm leaning more into the 'trade Dozier' crowd. A couple 'soon to be ready' pitching prospects for Dozier. Maybe a couple AA-type prospects for E ? If prioritizing defense at SS is the plan, I would contemplate trading Escobar. Not sure what his market value would be, but a SS with some pop in his bat and does decent work at the position should have some value.

    Thanks for posting this. Really great stuff that we seldom, if every, see. Development Priorities. I like the focus on the fastball and integration of breaking pitches and seeing actual plans for each MiLB level. Location over "more power" that seems to have absorbed everyone's attention. I was always wondering my pitchers were using more cutters. Very interesting. Time is up Allen. Do it your way
