  1. I'd take a chance on Castro and Ramos. Castro as a stopgap and maybe a 1-2 year contract on Ramos to see if he recovers from the ACL and can catch. Greg Holland might be a great pickup. Maybe a pitcher or 2 to maybe flip later. Not really seeing a lot that would make me swoon...
  2. Same here. Pitchers gave up 889 runs. Twins scored 722. sigh....
  3. I was always curious about Gonsalves fastball. There are example of those type of pitchers becoming successful. A couple of Braves pitchers come to mind. And that ain't fair to compare Gonsalves to them. If he can pickup a couple ticks on that fastball, who knows???
  4. If the Twins had a couple good+ starters already, I'd take a flyer on Holland. Right now, with the veterans we're already locked into, I'd rather keep on the 'promote from within' track that was started last year with the INF / OF.
  5. First of all: WELCOME! Twins Daily has been a great community for me to follow. I've learned more about Advanced Statistics than I ever thought I would. If this were anytime other than a rebuilding year, I would consider signing Hellickson. But there are contracts to be considered on the current staff, a real need to get Berrios off to a good start next year and a need to see if any other MiLB starter is near ready. Basically, try not to slow down the rebuild.
  6. Upon further review: No. Just, just no....
  7. Finished reading the NorthShoreNine article. I like the Kuhl / Keller as a starter. But need more. Maybe swap out Kuhl for Taillon? How about Cervelli? Twins would obviously have to add something to the mix. I don't know what... Edit: Ok, add E. Santana.
  8. Yeah, I get where they're coming from. I don't think it would be a very good selling point. To me it's saying Dozier is so bad defensively that the Twins are thinking of moving him to 1st. That big thud you hear is Dozier's trade value dropping.
  9. How short sighted of you Seriously, nobody else thought of that??
  10. I'm curious where this "Dozier playing 1st" is coming from. I can't find a record that he's played 1st base in MLB or MiLB.
  11. On the linked article to MLB.com: "Gordon, of course, is the son of Tom Gordon". Like everyone would know that. I thought he was this guy's son: http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Cleveland+Indians+v+Minnesota+Twins+uS1Wr1nH2iEc.jpg
  12. Is it out yet? Is it out yet? Is it out yet? Is it out yet?
  13. My ginormous plan it to sit and wait to hear all the announcements being held up by the Indians being in the World Series
  14. The one name I wanted to see on this list: Byron Buxton. I could be wrong, but I don't believe he's been involved in any of these Winter League's or Arizona Fall League. He's still quite a distance away from being a good offensive contributor.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sano's move to right was because Plouffe was at 3rd and Torii Hunter was gone? And then Plouffe got hurt and Sano moved back to 3rd. His fielding % at 3rd was .896, RF .962. I'm betting there's a better stat to use than that, just don't know what it is. I do know that Sano in RF took some adventurous routes to balls hit over his head that did not count as errors. Sano also does some similar things at 3rd: a few prat falls and a bonk on the head. Anyway, Plouffe by all accounts is gone and that Kepler kid is a lock for RF. Happy Days!
  16. Free is good. Thanks guys!
  17. My guess is that gaining more defensive competence will take a couple years. I'm pretty sure the new PoBO and GM are going to need some ramp-up time. Who stays, who goes. An outfield of Rosario, Buxton and Kepler looks pretty darn good to me, defensively. Offense: still a work in progress. The infield. Ufda. Safe to say, not a Gold Glover in the group? I'm assuming Dozier is staying. So is Mauer. Sano losing weight = being in better shape and (hopefully) more agility. What I saw of Polanco: he was better at 2nd and 3rd than SS. Maybe more reps? IDK.
  18. I don't know their names, but there was a couple younger guys doing Spring Training guys that were pretty good. They sometimes got a little too big on themselves...
  19. More from Berardino on GM search, via MLB Trader: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/10/twins-hire-thad-levine-gm-rangers.html "Sawdaye over the weekend was an assistant GM position, so it would appear that Sawdaye was never in the running for the No. 2 spot in their operation that will now go to Levine."
  20. Thanks for posting, Parker. Another great GM prospect! And there's probably a lot more out there. After weeks of uncertainty, the Minnesota Twins’ front office is starting to materialize. This is the thing that many of use have been wondering about. I've posted that Falvey may not be involved with the search or any decision making because he is bound by contract to work for the Indians. Sounds like the Twins upper management is in charge. Falvey is probably in the mix, just not the decision maker. EDIT: Well, if I had read all of the StarTribune article on the GM search, I would have seen this: "Falvey was announced as the Twins’ hire on Oct. 3 but will not officially take over until the World Series is over. There has been limited communication between the Twins and Falvey, as much as the Indians and Major League Baseball are comfortable with." So, there it is. Any way this situation plays out, it's a new world order for the Minnesota Twins Front Office. Yep, that's them.... http://cdn.inquisitr.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wwe-rumors-nwo-kevin-nash-return.jpg
  21. I was just going to post something similar. I'm not an expert by any means, I just guided the creation of a 501c3 board that could support the cause. #1 What Police do in Domestic Violence situations is exactly the slogan you see on police cars: Serve and Protect. Number 1 job is to listen, make a determination of who the victim is and get them to a safe harbor. What is preached via lectures, media events, fundraiser, etc. is for those victims is to get to a safe place FIRST and call 911 from there. Are the Police always right? Not always. The thing is to get them separated and let the investigators make the determination. #2 Yes, men are victims of Domestic Violence, too. I've witnessed it in a man, several times bigger than his wife, being attacked in public verbally and physically by his wife. Not being trained, I contacted the people at the Healing House. They were already aware, but couldn't interview until either the police were called or the victim asks for help. After a little more that 30 years of marriage, the man contacted the Healing House for assistance. They are now divorced and a restraining order in place.
  22. Or Derek Falvey is under contract with the Indians for the entire season, including playoffs and can not do work for any other organization.
  23. Amiel Sawdaye will join the Arizona organization as senior VP and assistant general manager http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/10/d-backs-to-hire-amiel-sawdaye-as-assistant-gm.html
