  1. On a long drive today, I listened to the MLB station on Sirius Radio. According to their "experts," Ramos would like to be traded to the American League because he thinks he is finished as catcher. And the Nationals are not interested in Castro because he can't hit and his defense is mediocre. Maybe the Twins need to look elsewhere for catching help. They also mentioned that the Dodgers are looking for help at 2nd base and have plenty in the minors to offer. They are also looking for a backend of the order innings eater. So maybe Dozier and Ervin Santana get shipped west for a bunch of prospects.
  2. Has Falvey been included in this decision? I sure hope he's on board.
  3. I wholeheartedly agree, but.... If leagues cut their schedules by 10%, are player unions going to accept a corresponding 10% cut in salaries? I have my doubts that would happen. Hockey and basketball could eliminate some off days (like hockey did a few years back), but that might also require union aproval. I think greed will override any shortening of seasons.
  4. I would like to just add some intelligent, positive, cognitive statements to this thread. But I got nothin'. Sorry. I guess I'll just wait to see what unfolds in real life this winter. Go Gophers/Vikings?
  5. #18. Because there are a lot of days between football games.
  6. Two years ago, I retired to a small town outside of Portland Maine. Professional sports news here consists primarily of Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriot reports. Yuck. So when I stumbled upon Twins Daily, Vikings Journal, and Wild Xtra, I was ecstatic. And by far, my favorite is Twins Daily. Every morning, I sit down with a cup of coffee and read every new article and many of the blogs. The hardest decision is whether to read the minor league report from the previous day's action first (because it is my favorite site) or wait until I've read everything else so I can savor the anticipation. Tough choice and I'm pretty much split 50/50 for the season. It will be a long winter.......
  7. What I find amusing/frustrating/sad is that the Twins have on staff right now a guy that arguably had the sweetest short swing in MLB history. And he's the manager, who has an opportunity every day to work with Buxton. And they have a bunting expert in Rod Carew who needs to also be working with Buxton. If Buxton could bunt with any consistency, he would be hitting over.300 with bunts alone. I have never seen speed comparable to his (and I saw Willie Mays in spring training in 1954 so I have seen some baseball).
  8. Thanks. Maybe I'll remember it now (although I already forgot the question - Martha, where are my pills?)
  9. People use a lot of acronyms in the comment section, most of which us old-timers (I remember the the first Twins game in 1961) don't understand. I get the general meaning of most but the one that baffles me is "SSS." Please explain. It sounds like something from a World War II documentary on the Nazis. Thanks.
  10. The biggest event of the day for me was Berrios recovering from a bad first inning and follow it with five incredible innings. Hopefully, this is the start of a long run of Berrios Does It Again games.
  11. I have a Duffy question. Living in New England, I seldom get the opportunity to see the Twins in action. Last year, when Duffy was going well, I thought I was hearing about his 12 to 6 curve ball. I've seen him throw a couple times this year and he seems to throw almost sidearm, which doesn't provide any downward movement on his curve. Has ue changed his arm angle? Or am I "mis-remembering" his curveball?
  12. I reread the post five times. I can see how you can read it as you've interpreted it. I think it was not written as clearly as it could have been. Regardless, no tanking allowed in baseball.
  13. The paragraph I quoted said that even though the Twins had high picks, they missed out on the above named players. I just pointed out that the above named players were all gone before the Twins picked.
  14. All of these examples were picked prior to the Twins first pick.
  15. If the Twins get a nice trade offer for Nunez, is Leonardo Reginatto ready to finish the year with the Twins?
  16. As an example, the Mets lost their 3rd baseman and don't have anyone to replace him. We have Plouffe with Sano about to take over 3rd. That's when someone from a crappy team can help a good team. Also Suzuki, Dozier, and Nolasco have been playing well recently and some team may want help for the second half of 2016. Trade any or all of them for whatever seems reasonable and move forward.
  17. What are these playoffs of which you speak? I am not aware of these things.
  18. However, if he comes up, pitches a couple good games, he can be dealt to a contender. There are teams that need help right now and we might be able to get a prospect. Or package Milone with Plouffe/Dozier/Nolasco/Santana for a couple prospects.
  19. Milone is probably the best trade chip available. Bring him back now and hope he responds like last year. Then trade him for whatever you can get back. According to the talking heads on the MLB network on Serius radio, several contending teams are looking for back of the rotation starters who provide at least a 50/50 chance of a win. No other Twins starter fits that criteria.
  20. Looks like Buddy Boshers is having a year that should lead to a call up to the Twins.
  21. Buddy Boshers keeps showing up in your reports in a positive way. Is he a possibility for a trip to the big leagues?
  22. Can we have a roatation of Berrios, May, Meyer, Duffy and Gibson for the month of May and see what the future might look like? Call up Chargois to take May's bullpen spot.
  23. 14 pitchers, 11 non- pitchers. I haven't played in a long time but aren't there only 8 positions besides pitcher? The Twins have three players on the bench, not two. Not that having only three is a good idea, but at least the math is correct.
  24. 30% of all balls that hit a bat end up with a runner ending up safely on base???? Doubtful. F any pitcher had this line, he should retire.
