  1. I never thought I would see the day when a Meatloaf song is quoted in a baseball article.
  2. I have AT&T. From what I've been told, up here (or hee-ah as Mainers would say), T-Mobile doesn't get very good reception in many parts of the state.
  3. I've been a Twins fan since Battey, Killebrew, Tuttle, Rollins, Bequer, et. al. took the field in 1961. Unfortunately, I retired in Maine so I don't get to see many games (can't afford the MLB option on cable on a civil servant pension) so I depend on Twins Daily for my updates. And what I look forward to everyday are the minor league reports so I can track the progress of the future Twins. We aren't there yet, but I feel like 2018 is when the Twins become contenders and for several years after 2018, they will remain a force. So for those of us without a daily TV update, here's to the staff of Twins Daily. Keep up the outstanding work.
  4. When is someone going to volunteer Danny Santana as the person to be dropped from the 40-man roster? There are eight posts above mine and I haven't seen his name yet.
  5. Seems like some of you would be happier if Park struck out every at bat. Geez, lighten up and have some fun while the games don't count.
  6. "Crafty Lefty" means a mediocre fastball, doesn't it?
  7. "The next addition by subtraction will hopefully be Perkins and hopefully will happen sooner than later." The quote above was from Thrylos. Somehow I deleted his name. Oops..... I'm hoping that Perkins is healthy and pitches great, until he's traded to a contender for a couple prospects.
  8. I'm not sure I would want a pitcher warming up with a weighted ball. That might seriously impact the angle the ball come to the plate. Between games, I think it might be very beneficial for strengthening the arm, but not during a game. Hitting a ball and throwing a ball are two very different muscle memory functions.
  9. Sorry. I wasn't questioning the source. I was just curious about it. If I were the Twins front office and the Dodgers only offered De Leon for Dozier, I would have been insulted.
  10. Do you have any actual proof of this offer or is it just "he said/she said"? I have not seen anything other than random speculation that a "package" of players was on the table.
  11. Geez, this time of year must be extremely difficult for sports writers if this is the best article you can come up with. How about "Which Twin matches up best with Trump's proposed Cabinet?" Mauer and Sessions? Both stay to the far right - Maurer on the field and Sessions in real life. Ben Carson and Paul Molitor? Both Ppear clueless most of the time.
  12. Last year was the first. I really enjoyed it and will be getting this year's also.
  13. Are you agreeing with me? I can't tell what you point is. Sorry
  14. But as I said, that's the real world, not the world of professional sports team ownership. A championship, not money, drives these egos. If I have to overpay, tough noogies. I'm going to do it if I think I can win it all.
  15. There is quite a bit of referencing "supply and demand" in this thread. And that is a very strong argument - in the business world. But, in my humble opinion based on 100 years of business experience and following baseball (maybe a slight exaggeration), trading for a perceived asset (Dozier) that brings me a World Series title, has nothing to do with sound business practices. It is all about ego and bragging rights. The owners of sports teams are not in this business so much as to make profits as they are for the opportunity to rub elbows with athletes and (especially in L.A.) celebrities. So I would predict (again in my humble opinion) that if nothing happens now, if the Dodgers are not in first place in mid-May, their "demand" is going to be coming after our "supply" in full force and sound business practices will be thrown out the window.
  16. Then here is an "outside the box" suggestion for the front office. Package every player in the organization (regardless of at what level they are currently playing) with the last name of Santana and see what you can get in return.
  17. for accuracy: Minneapolis sits at 44°, 58° and Toronto sits at 43°, 39°. Minneapolis is north of Toronto. Surprisingly, Duluth is south of Seattle.
  18. I always thought Maddux misspelled his own name.
  19. Remember that this is the Rule 5 draft and not the amateur draft. The pickings aren't team altering talents. So if the Twins are lucky and end up with a back of the order pitcher, then I say good job. Also, the Twins have plenty of flame throwers on the horizon. It might be a nice change of pace, however, to see the someone that actually throws his fastball in the strike zone. And finally (before I take my mid-morning nap), remeber that Greg Maddox barely topped 90 MPH and he did alright for himself. (You younger guys may have to look up Maddox.)
  20. Now I just read in MLB rumors in Bleacher Report that Buster Olney says Castro excels at pitch framing. I think I'll just take a nap and wait for something to actually happen.
  21. Based on this projection, why the heck did the Twins draft him? I think he will outperform this prediction significantly.
  22. Seth - any chance of either (or both) Curtiss and Melotakis making the opening day roster with the Twins? They could be two big pieces in the bullpen. And I like the idea of Garver being given a shot on opening also. What's there to lose?
  23. I think it was Power Alley with Jim Duquette and Mike Ferrin. I don't listen often enough to know their biases, but I would have more trust in what they hear from around major league baseball than in what us amateur GMs opine. Just reporting what I heard here, Mr. Brooks, not proclaiming dogma.
  24. I've never seen him play but that's what the Nationals were saying according to the MLB guys. While listening to them discuss Castro, I really got a bad feeling about trying to sign him.
