  1. This is what we will continue to see from the Twins, some good, some bad and sloppy baseball. And we will have success against 60% of the teams but unfortunately these are not the teams that makes the playoffs. We need to identify 6 or 7 players that are your core and play them everyday and only replace in the later innings based on the situation like Milwaukee did with Hoskins yesterday.. Quit moving players around defensively and in the lineup, get some stability. Then when injuries occur slide someone into that spot to hold it down until the injured player comes back. You are not going to have sustained success with a team of role players and that is what this team is. Larnach and Wallner are getting very few reps in the later innings due to the insane pinch hitting, if we are going to count on them, they need reps in these situations. Almost every game they are done by the 6th or 7th inning. Notice how Milwaukee let their young OF Frelick hit against Okert. Just because a player can play multiple positions doesn't mean they play them all well. And this why we keep seeing sloppy ball, You become better defensively with reps, learn the situations and what to do in each situation. Moving around hampers this ability, some players can do it but not many.
  2. According to Rocco, they felt Farmer was the third catcher and that is why he wanted Camargo. I don't think you can waste limited roster space for a 3rd catcher and I also fear that Farmer will not be going anywhere when he is back. All for a scenario that probably has a less than 1% chance of occurring.
  3. Alcala is not a two inning pitcher, something about sitting down and going back out there. He has not done well in the second inning he pitches, he needs to be a one inning pitcher even with the low pitch count.
  4. Carrying three catchers for the 1 % chance that you will need a third catcher is roster mismanagement. And now it has blown up in their face having to play Vasquez at third. Julien needed to be up here even if it was only for the weekend. There is no reason to carry 3 catchers with the short benches of today unless one is banged up.
  5. I highly doubt either Miranda or Correa will play tomorrow based on the Twins history of treating players who are dinged up. I am sure they want Miranda to sit out until next Saturday.
  6. It would need to be an infielder they would call up, but it looks like all the candidates are in the lineup tonight. So the Twins are willing to give away two games. For a team that likes to go ten deep at every position it was surprising they didn't call up an infielder instead of Camargo, they were thin in the infield before Correa and Miranda went down.
  7. It was probably a scheduled day off that was planned at the beginning of the season. And you do not dare mess with the schedule or adapt to the situation such as a rain out during the week.
  8. They had two off days this week with the rain out, Buxton couldn't play two more games before taking a week off. The Twins process or whatever they want to call it is getting maddening. Put your best lineup out there, quit overthinking it every day. I really have no desire to see Margot out there in CF or hitting against a RH pitcher.
  9. How about just putting the best lineup out there to start the game. Worry about bench moves when you need to make them. Planning on having to pinch hit for someone is overthinking it. There is no defense for having Vazquez in the game as a DH, there are better options even against a LH pitcher.
  10. Is Vazquez really a better option at DH than Kepler, Larnach or Wallner? This obsession with not putting a LH hitter in the lineup vs. a LH pitcher is getting over the top when you see that.
  11. Castro to second and Larnach to LF, there were options. Whether they were the best for defense, that is open for discussion. But at the time it was only a two run lead, I would have played for a bigger inning.
  12. He's a better hitter than Farmer
  13. Why not pinch hit Larnach for Farmer?
  14. Bring Kemp up, just what we need another low ceiling veteran who brings very little to the team. Let's get some high impact or potential players on the team.
  15. If these three players were supposed to be the core than why weren't they playing every day and for the whole game. The way they were utilized does not shout they are core players. Yes they underperformed but was it because of the way they were used. I know this has been discussed on multiple threads but you can't consider them core players when they were treated as role players by the team. And they gave Wallner an awful quick hook back to St. Paul.
  16. Let's go with the youngster's and get the cooked veterans out of here. And let them play, stop with the third time of the order, LH hitters have to sit against against LH pitchers. Let them play and give them confidence. AK looks totally lost, this is a massive failure on the coaching staff. What would happen if they just let him play and not sit him halfway thru every game. This is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy, they can't hit lefties, but they never face them and the couple of times they do, they don't have success. They can't go thru the order a third time, so pull the pitcher. Then if they do it one time and they give up a run, they say see we told you so. Players need to play and learn by playing.
  17. We better hope the first three guys do something because Margot is due to hit 5th this inning.
  18. When does he stop pinch hitting Margot, it is not working. This is just pure stubornness on the part of Rocco to continue sending him up there to pinch hit when he is not successful.
  19. Great bring up another below average veteran, don't we have enough of those taking up roster space.
  20. The iPad doesn't have that possibility programmed in,
  21. Margot is now 0 for 17 in pinch hitting appearances. At what point does the front office and Rocco be held accountable for their horrible decision making. This is getting harder and harder to stomach trying to watch.
  22. Who knows what would happen if he were given 3 to 4 AB's every game, that is my point, if given consistent playing time would that make a difference. I know he has not looked good, but you can't send everyone to AAA, at some point the coaching staff has to help the players improve at the major league as well.
  23. I was talking against LH pitching
  24. HIs stats say he has an OPS against LH pitching of .701 which is league average.
  25. And how do you know he has no chance, he actually had limited success earlier in the season when given chances. You can't turn every young player into a part time player and that is what they are doing.
