  1. So now Miranda is a part time player too.
  2. Why not play Lewis at SS and move Castro to second. This keeps Lewis and Miranda bats in the lineup. I know Lewis has not been stellar on defense this year, but two years ago he came up and played short. I can't believe he wouldn't be a better option than Castro and Farmer. Then you could bring up Kiersey to play center.
  3. And last game Kepler doesn't catch a foul ball and if he does he is out of the inning with no runs. He has to pick up his defense, but he needs help from the defense. He gave up 3 runs in 6 innings today and he is the # 4 or 5 pitcher however you want to rank him, most teams would take that from the backend rotation guys. He wasn't the reason we lost today, it was the offense.
  4. Let's talk about this game, that is what I am referring to and Varland has given us the opportunity to win. Most comments are making it seem like he gave up 10 runs in the first inning, If you don't think he belongs in the rotation, that is a fair opinion but the results have been there the last two games. And I think sometimes we look for all the different stats and are they hitting a pitcher and forget to look at the results.
  5. He gave up 8 hits, two of them should have been outs and 1 walk. I know it is not outstanding, but pitchers will give up hits and when you only give up now 3 runs in 6 innings, you have given your team a chance to win. I am not sure if he should be part of the rotation long term but give him some credit for keeping his team in the game, that is what counts.
  6. What do you mean on paper, he gave up two runs in 5 innings, that is real results.
  7. 2 runs in 5 innings, that sure is a poor outing.
  8. Yeah and the error had no impact on the inning. It was ruled a hit but should have been an error.
  9. David Clyde came straight from high school to the majors, he never played college ball.
  10. No that is on Falvey and how he chose to allocate his resources. Now do I wish that he was given a bigger budget, yes but to keep blaming the Pohlads is the easy way out. They have given him larger budgets and he has produced one playoff series win. Maybe it's not all about money but how the money is being spent.
  11. Lopez had to throw an extra 19 pitches because of the Catcher's interference. I don't put it completely on him, he could have been out of the inning a lot earlier. Stop having the catcher set up closer to the batter, because that is what is going to happen, a catcher's interference call. You aren't going to steal strikes, it is where it crosses the plate not where the catcher catches it.
  12. The Twins keep trying to get the optimal matchup for every bat. While that sounds great in theory, it is not practical in reality. You need to play your best players and if they are not good enough to win games either develop or trade for better players. There is a time to make a move or moves in a game to optimize your chances for success but you can't do it for every AB. And yes you can be strategic about giving players a day off here and there to maximize a particular matchup but you don't do it every day.
  13. Farmer needs to be DFA'd, he should not play another inning for the Twins. He has not earned his playing time this year. And they won't even play him at SS which is he was originally brought in to play.
  14. They had one warming up, I thought for sure they would bring him in to face Larnach and Wallner. Maybe the threat of Margot on the bench made them change their mind.
  15. Prepare for the Manny experience in the 9th inning, maybe this will be the day for a hit when pinch hitting.
  16. Great at bat Willi, but don't worry you will be in the lineup every day.
  17. You have to be a switch hitter to play every day for the Twins.
  18. This game is a perfect example of why it is hard to get excited about this team. They can not play the better teams because they are not fundamentally sound. They do no situationally hitting, so runners keep getting stranded. Cleveland just puts the bat on the ball when needed. Castro almost ran us out of an inning. These mistakes can be overcome against the weaker teams not against the better teams. They need to change their hitting philosophy but it won't happen as long as Falvey is in charge.
  19. Over 70 plate appearances spread out over 3 years, you are going to declare he can't become close to average against LH pitching. I am not saying he can definitely be serviceable against LH pitching but you can't just declare that all LH hitters will never hit LH pitching without giving them a reasonable chance. And that is exactly what the Twins are doing, they are declaring no LH hitter can hit LH pitching. Will they do the same with Rodriquez and Jenkins, we will find out.
  20. Richardson pitched great, hopefully he can continue this thru September.
  21. On an everyday basis, quit being obsessed with who is pitching and what arm they throw with.
  22. Why does Santana have to be in there every day, he has had one outstanding month. Bring him in for defense at the end of the game. But Lewis and Miranda will give us more offense on a consistent basis against RH pitching.
  23. Actually our top three top outfield options are Buxton, Kepler and Wallner and they should be starting regardless of who is on the mound on a regular basis.
  24. Certain lefty starters, not every one you give them a day off. Give your every day players an occasional day off and let them play the whole game. This obsession with lefty pitching is getting over the top. You can't play for every match up that is why you play your best players and Margot is not one of them.
