    just wanna say thanks: quite a while back and before all the movie publicity, you tossed out a tip on reading the martian. i put it on hold at the library (when the waiting list was still short) and, after a somewhat reasonable wait, picked it up about a week ago. just finished and now look forward to seeing the movie (in imax, of course).

    i'd say #1 is good ol' joe mauer's two-out double, without which none of the rest might have happened.

    yesterday cano struck out to make the second out in the ninth inning of a one-run game against the angels -- a game with post-season implications. the catcher dropped the ball but a frustrated cano just stood there and the catcher never had to make a throw to first. stuff like that happens every day in the majors. cano should have headed for first to make the catcher throw. he didn't. but if any teammates had anything to say to cano, it was apparently handled in the clubhouse. as it should be.

    kinsler is listed as 2-for-11 career versus duensing, so apparently 1-for-10 before tonight. still, for some reason i cringe whenever kinsler steps to the plate no matter who's pitching.

    i remember the one in 2009 when he tied the score in philadelphia with a two-out ninth-inning homer off of lidge -- a game the twins won in extras. (just looked it up -- it was 2010.)
