  1. Sounds like Suzuki really rode that line drive.
  2. On Cubs radio, Ron Coomer just talked about being at the 19-12 Rod Carew game on June 26, 1977. I remember the date, because I was there too.
  3. I’ve got wallpaper that would be better.
  4. Call me crazy, but I have an idea for what could be even better.
  5. Opting out of the Apple option, and thanks to Apple, the game isn’t on Marquee, which I do get in northern Indiana. The plus on this is that it encourages me to take in the Cubs radio broadcast. Pat Hughes is as good at painting a word picture as anyone, and Ron Coomer has grown on me as an analyst.
  6. I’m not big on mushrooms, but their leadoff man seems to be a fun guy.
  7. It seems to me like I read somewhere on TD that we once traded Taylor Rogers.
  8. When I was a pastor about 15 years ago, we had a gentleman in the church who had just turned 100. When I referenced that from the pulpit, I noted that he had actually been alive the last time the Cubs won the World Series. 😀
  9. I haven't (yet) bought the Athletic subscription, but there are a lot of parallels. So I'll take that a step further and say... No need to do anything now. Wait until the offseason to make a tender/non-tender decision, which allows for incorporating prospect progress, midseason trades and Rule 5 considerations in addition to the progress they are seeing in his rehab. If tendered, revisit the extension conversation next spring like they did with Paddack. There's no need to rush into any decisions when they got months to make choices. And as I type that scenario, it adds to my encouragement on how they feel about the progress for Paddack in his rehab. He's apparently checked the box on all three counts, so hopefully that good news continues.
  10. I was on the radio too, but I was struck by how much more comfortable it sounded/felt to have Farmer at 3B instead of Miranda.
  11. I’m kind of a traditionalist, but i can take suggestions from @Squirrel. So… Winner, winner, Gizzard Blizzard!
  12. On the bright side, we’re out of Lopezes for the night, so we should be good to go!
  13. He threw a bunch of pitches last night, so it’s probably a moot point for tonight, but I have liked the way Rocco has used him. It’s seemed to be in games when they are behind but still in range. Last night was a good example — down 3-1 when he came in in the 7th. It’s a spot where you don’t want to use the studs, but want to give the bats a chance.
  14. Don’t forget the guy with the 0.69 ERA over 13 innings, with 13 strikeouts, 8 hits and 3 walks for a 0.85 WHIP. That includes six straight scoreless outings, with five baserunners in 6.2 innings. That’s Pagan, if you take out the debacle in Boston where he was an early-game injury fill-in for Maeda and then was left out to dry in an attempt to eat innings. I know, you can’t randomly drop an outing, but while many of us aren’t ready to admit it, he’s pitched pretty well.
  15. It would be nice if they took intentionals into account when they use that stat.
  16. Thank goodness Soto hit in the seventh, or we’d have to buy @Squirrel the Blizzard.
  17. Guess I’ll have to buy my own Blizzard.
  18. Given that Lopez is our current starter, yes.
  19. Wouldn’t be the first time my dinner consisted of large quantities of ice cream. EDIT to add: Shoot, I’ve had plenty of times when breakfast consisted of large quantities of ice cream. Can you tell I grew up on a dairy farm?
  20. Let’s hope it’s nuggets in ranch or honey mustard later.
  21. I missed this, but with his previous homer, Kepler has now hit more than 30 percent of all the MLB homers hit by players born in Germany. Also, I heard that his parents were ballet dancers.
