    Completely disagree. Overused cliche. As has been proven the last couple of games against the Indians and all of last season the Twins DESPERATELY need pitching, pitching AND MORE PITCHING. Drafting Lewis does nothing for this organization for the next 4 to 5 years and by then Sano, Kepler, Buxton, Berrios, etc. are all hitting free agency and knowing this organization they are not going to keep this core together. Sorry, I just can't agree. Should have gone with a college arm with the #1 pick and supplementary pick as well. I could have accepted rolling the dice on Greene because of the potential upside too.

    Excuse me? You better take a long look in the mirror and read up before telling someone to be smarter! Yes the Twins did want McKay at 1:1, that was there first preference. Now you may not like that and it seems to have your knickers in a twist, but i've read multiple reports including one on baseball America stating as such. Yes, they wanted him badly at 1:1 but were not willing to pay him slot. Don't like the message, don't read my post, but it is true like it or not Alarp. The rest of your post is pointless. I don't care what they are trying to save in later picks by paying under slot with the 1st pick. At 1:1 that is not the pick to be skimping on in order save money for later signings.

    They refused to pay McKay slot and that was THE GUY they wanted.

    True, but the wrong ones. They drafted a reliever and attempted to turn him into a starter. The other is a type one diabetic (big red flag for any athlete) and to be honest Stewart was over hyped and never lived up to the scouting reports from day one.

    I'm not drinking the cool-aid. This has been a squandered draft so far in my opinion. I understand Falvey and Levine not trading Dozier or Santana last season (the offers just weren't right). That said, not addressing an obviously inferior bullpen in the offseason was strike one, wasting a 1:1 pick on Lewis and the wasted supplemental pick is a big FAT strike two. What i see so far? A new front office that can't close a deal during tough negotiations. Regardless of whether or not the Dozier DeLeon trade would have been right for the team is moot, they weren't able to secure additional pieces via negotiation and close a deal. Same thing with McKay. Obviously that was they guy they REALLY wanted yet they refused to go over slot or at slot and couldn't get him on board yet the Rays were able to do so. Just wow! What does this tell you about Falvey and Levine? Can't close a deal?! I'm not impressed at all.

    Amen and 100% right. Big opportunity missed here to grab a top college pitcher that could have helped the rotation soon while they still have the core of Sano, Buxton, Kepler, etc. intact.

    wow. i'm dissapointed with this selection. For a team so devoid of top pitching prospects this move is puzzling.

    This is a difficult question. We are on the edge of contention, but still have obvious woes in the starting rotation and bullpen. Truth is Santana at 34 is likely peaking and it will only be downhill from here. Plus he's under contract through 2018 with a club option year in 2019? To me if the right deal came along i would trade him but only if it's the right deal.

    The one conclusion I'm drawing from this discussion....I really want to see Trevor May pitch again in a Twins uniform as a starter. Let's all cross our fingers that he experiences a timely recovery and successful rehab. This young man gets it. He understands strategy versus blowing guys away with pure speed. That is the difference (besides a few MPH on his FB) and guys Pressley & Deduno. Gibson should also take note as well. You have to have a strategy and approach to keep hitters off balance and eliminate predictability. Pure stuff will only get you so far.

    I would take two or three more of these in a heart beat. Doesn't have to be an official "ace" to make this team a world series winner (although it does help).

    Yes, like anything else one thing can lead to another if repeated. Catastrophic is a buzz word in this scenario, not reality.

    Catastrophic? Comeon... Catastrophic would be something like a brain aneurysm, stroke or TBI. But a concussion is mild compared to many brain injuries.

    He would get comments about his weight on any ball club. Staying in shape is part of the game in any sport.

    No way he gets 10/$350 million as a first contract.

    I just don't see the Twins offering Scenario #1 as a first contract. They are too cheap to do that.

    I thought I read somewhere that he was completely fed up with the Twins staff and was no longer listening to the coaches. Not sure if that's true or not, but he might want out and this is the way to do it.

    My mistake, should have said organization development time. Although does it really matter at this point? They are all part of the same machine.

    Past his prime? He's 29 years old. If he squeaks through a few of these upcoming starts giving up 4 runs or less over five innings he will stay in the rotation for the foreseeable future. If he continues to get pounded he might last one or two more starts before getting demoted IMO. Just to be clear Molitor and the FO don't want to demote this guy to the pen. They have too much development time invested in him.

    Sano is not going to sign an extension with the Twins PERIOD IMO! He's a playboy, spending much of his offseason in NY City the last two years if I remember correctly. Perhaps that changes eventually but right now there is NO-WAY he signs an extension in Minnesota. He could make 200+ million on his first contract if he signs outside Minnesota. He will be on the first plane ride outta here as soon as sniffs FA.

    He's actually pitched a decent game so far. Bert has it right he's learning to pitch instead of just throwing it. I think he's much more effective throwing fewer FB's and mixing it up more. Sano llooking pretty good at 3rd.
