  1. I'd like to see him get another two starts. A lot of that could have been nerves the other night. After seeing what Berrios has done this season after his disastrous debut year in 2016, I'm willing to take a longer look.
  2. Your right. And i agree with what you are saying in principal. There is no problem with having a voice at the place of work, but Dozier's comments were inappropriate and out of line IMO.
  3. empowerment is not the same thing as dissension and insubordination.
  4. To be blunt and to the point. Yes and no. Mauer is what he is at this point but he's trying. Brian on the other hand, just shut your pie hole already and play ball. When your no longer playing and in a front office management position then you can talk. Until then, sit down and shut up.
  5. All of this is good and dandy but he still needs to be traded now...he will never amount to anything other than a 4th outfielder.....sarcasm Can't tell you how many posts i've read the past couple of months that he is the odd man out that he needs to be traded, that he will never amount to anything.
  6. Still don't understand why so many here were in a rush to trade Rosario when our clutch core hitters obviously are carrying the load and went 0-9 (Mauer and Dozier).
  7. Mauer batting cleanup? ughhhh. I'd rather have someone else hitting there that actually has some power and can do something else other than take a walk.
  8. Since the OP put that picture on their it's fair game. Who in their right mind would put their head or neck in a bears mouth? That bear could pop his head off like a champagne cork in a heart beat.
  9. yes. This guy absolutely should be getting a shot instead of Colon who is done after this season anyways. Not understanding why this hasn't happened yet.
  10. I like this deal a lot. Littell has a great curve, low 90's fastball and is developing a slider that i heard is near unhittable at times. That to me sounds like a solid #3 / #4. Plus he's 21 and is up in AA ball. If thats true then this is a great find. Enns looks appears to be a solid reliever type and he has 4 pitches. Very positive trade from this FO, feeling good vibes. Now lets see what we can get for Kintzler and Santana. You don't have to trade them but if they can get a couple of very solid SP prospects close to the majors AA or higher i will feel a lot better heading into 2018 and 2019. Exactly the kind of moves this franchise needs to inject some quality pitching prospects into the minors without having to trade away any of the core offensive players at the majors. Perhaps i was wrong about Falvey and Levine.
  11. Yes, but one year closer to FA for both and decreased value. Plus next season both Kintzler and Garcia are gone. So in a way the Twins are kinda in a conundrum. Do they believe these guys are building blocks or aging veterans that are sell-able assets? What's certain? Without more pitching this team ain't gonna win anything. Sure they might end up near .500, but that's not gonna get this team into the playoffs unless they get lucky. We've already seen how they perform against quality opponents such as the Dodgers and the results aren't too good. Two. When Sano is not in the lineup this team STRUGGLES offensively, they need to find someone else in the lineup that can carry this team offensively. So...do they choose to stand pat and hang on to aging assets such as Dozier, Santana, etc, while feigning competitiveness to the fans or get off the pot and sell. In my opinion you can only stink up the joint so long before you should start producing something. This multi year limbo this team is stuck in is a result of cheap ownership and a front office in denial and not committing 100% to a rebuild when they should have years ago. Look at Houston they were TERRIBLE from 2011 to 2014, but GUESS WHAT?!? They chose to rebuild and traded off their sell-able assets that weren't part of the long term plans in order to bring back prospects. This isn't rocket science.
  12. ehhh he still really isn't hitting major league pitching effectively, unfortunately.
  13. Why not? I think he has potential, more so than Tepesch, Gee, Colon, etc. He has pitched well down the stretch here. He doesn't have overwhelming stuff but he's winning. Do i think the Twins will promote him down the stretch here? No, unfortunately.
  14. Count me as on that is glad that Gibson is pitching better. As much as the guy drives me crazy early on in the season he has decent stuff and just needs to trust himself and be aggressive. If only he could do that it in April and May, all the way through the season. Would go a long way towards solving this teams starting pitching issues.
  15. Does anyone see a pattern developing here? I swear if i squint my eyes enough its old man Ryan making these deals instead of Falvey and Levine? The acquisitions.....Colon, Turley, Gee, Tepesch, Haley, probably others i'm not thinking of. Junk, Junk, Junk, Junk, mediocre rental in Garcia which i do see value in. What's the difference at the end of the day? None of these moves really had any hope of being a long term positive impact for a team trying to become competitive. What's worse is that this new Front office appears to be just as small market minded as the previous FO when the Twins are clearly closer to a mid market team and have the resources to go after Gray or other similar type players. Maybe now is not the right time, but that would clearly be a long term move that would improve the Twins. While i understand the thought process behind going after Garcia in the short term, if that falls through why not promote Gonsalves, Romero or Jorge? Be willing to invest in your prospects through experience even if it costs you in the short term in wins.
  16. Agreed. Would be a very tough pill to swallow if the return is Garcia. Good catching prospects are not easy to come by. I would be shocked if this is who they send over to Atlanta.
  17. Not a bad move by the Twins. Not exciting and certainly not sexy but a solid move to bolster a weak rotation beyond Santana, Berrios and Meija. Colon looks to be teetering on retirement, but we'll see. I wonder if means that the FO has officially moved on from Santiago and Hughes? And i can't say that i'm not unhappy about that in and of itself.
  18. Exciting to see Lewis Thorpe back on the radar again. Trying to curb my enthusiasm after his last start but at 21 he's still promising if he continues to improve. How likely do you think he gets called up to Chattanooga next year?
  19. Wow optimistic. Personally I'd be thrilled if he ever makes the Twins rotation at some point in the future and is successful given his dismal strikeout rates.
  20. I second this. Tired of dancing around the bush. Using one of Gonsalves options is not the end of the world. Might as well see what this kid can do, unless there's some glaring deficiency. Go for it. Plus he's a south paw, plus plus.
  21. 2. Our Twins – All Star Break Math for You. The left hand column is bigger than the right hand column with a record of 45-43. The Twins are in 2nd place in the AL Central, 2.5 games behind the Indians and currently just one game out of the Wild Card behind the Yankees and Rays. Not for long.
