    Why get upset about it? Would it have been nice to have Darvish, absolutely now we can look forward to seeing the kids compete for the rotation this year.

    Looks like the lesser free agent dominoes are starting to fall. How many signing today? 3 or 4 out of 100? Just a trickle now.

    Jon Heyman in MLB trade rumors has stated that there’s “reason to believe” that neither the Brewers or the Twins are a top choice for Darvish, though, so either team could perhaps need to be more aggressive in order to land him.

    LOL, I don't side with either one because at the end of they day they are both getting rich off of me via my already high cable bills.

    Public ownership of many mlb teams is a fantasy. And allowing players to be arbitration eligble from the get go will only make matters worse for the have nots franchises. The simple truth is this. You have 4 or 5 teams that have north of $400 million in revenue, and 4 or 5 more with 300 million + in revenues with the Yankees leading the pack by A LOT. What happened before the luxury cap? These very teams lead by the Yankees, Dodgers, etc. went out and bought every player they needed by pillaging the smaller franchises of younger players as they approached free agency and realized they couldn't afford to sign their premier free agents. They did this over and over and over again from the late 90's, through the 2000's. Its not until the luxury tax started kicking in that finally put the brakes on the big market spenders. Unfortunately, the damage has been done. These reckless spenders have driven salaries so high along with player expectations that small market teams are left with no choice but to intentionally tank and force rebuild in order to attain a short window of contention before repeating. A hard salary cap years ago would have prevented this in my opinion.

    If that's true and i'm not saying its not, Sano has MUCH bigger problems than his conduct in Chattanooga. If he is harassing female employees,fans, etc. and it's still reoccurring the Twins need to sit down with him and give him a stern ultimatum. Knock it off or your toast.

    If Yu is now expecting or hoping for 7 years FORGET IT. Five years is the offer take it or leave it and don't look back. There is no way they should even consider giving him that.

    GOOd! Let them strike. And while there at it demand a hard salary cap be on the table and really see the fire works go off.

    Tillman does not excite me. I'd much rather they get Cobb or Lynn than Tillman on a short deal.

    I think Fangraphs projections for Lynn are way off. He is much better than 1.3 WAR. I think he will be much closer to mid 3's in 2018 consistent with what he did from 2013-2015.

    I wonder if you could make a correlation between all these charts (average player salaries, baseball revenue, average length of games) and commercial tv time during each game?

    FASCINATING! Note how the game lengths average plateaued in the 1970's & 80's only to steadily rise thereafter heading into the 2000's and modern era. I've also noticed this in reruns of sitcoms like Seinfeld, Friends and Simpsons where they are now cutting content to squeeze in the ridiculous amount of commercials which are consuming more and more time during each program. If the trend continues in another 90 years we could have games in the 4-1/2 hour length average. Kinda like junk mail. It seems like i keep getting more and more of it.

    The truth is staring them in the face. What do they value more? People sitting in front of their TV's watching baseball or those paying tickets, buying concessions and going to games? The game has stretched from 2-1/2 hours to 3-1/2 / 4-1/2 hours mostly due to television commercials and that turns A LOT of people off from the sport. It makes a slow paced sport almost unbearably slow and that's why they are losing the attention of younger fans. The reality is that most Americans work till 5:30 - 6:00 and don't have the time to spend entire evenings watching a sporting event where almost a third is commercials. Like you said though it's the $ that talk.

    haha....yeah but who has the time to consistently go to games after work that start at 6 or 7 and last 3-1/2 - 4 hours during a week night? If they could knock it down to under 3 maybe closer to 2-1/2 hours it would do wonders. The key commercials. Get rid of half of the commercials all together and the game speeds up considerably.

    Yeah those must have been great times. I can only imagine the excitement that Vikings and Twins fans felt in 1960 / 1961 when it all started and seeing marquee names such as Mantle and Maris come to Metropolitan Stadium for the first time.

    Reduce the number of commercial breaks. That's were a bulk of the time is going.

    I agree. If the Twins aren't willing to pay whatever the cost ends up being to get Yu, even going six years, then they need to move to the next tier of free agent starters ASAP. Cobb, Lynn, and possibly Arrieta. I just hope they don't get stuck with someone like Tillman because no-one wants to go to Minnesota. If that's the case I would rather not sign anyone and let the young kids play in 2018, if he's the only option left on the table at the end of all of this. That said, I think they'll come away with someone here of significance. It may not be Yu but i could see them signing Lynn or Cobb.

    As someone currently living in Charlotte (i'm not from there) i can say for certain that the Knights Stadium is awesome. I've seen many games there the last couple of seasons. Charlotte is BOOOMING right now and they are ripe for a major league team if and or when the league expands.

    I'll just stop watching. My cable bill is already high enough because of them (League, owners and players collectively) and their tv rights.

    Not at all. i just think it's hilarious to see multi-millionaires whine about not getting dramatic salary increases this year.

    LOL tension, frustration if not anger. OMG, said free agent mlb player is not going to get an extra 2 or 3 million dollars a year this season if they sign a contract. How on earth can we go on? ohhhh the world is coming to and end for your favorite major league stars.....cry me a river of alligator tears while the rest of us that live in the real world throw pennies at each other.

    i though he (Yu) wasn't in a hurry to sign anything anytime soon and was enjoying the process?

    My thoughts as well. If they aren't willing to go up to 150/160 they aren't going to get him and he ends up in Chicago.

    So your basically saying that we shouldn't factor injury history into a pitcher's consistency or his stats unless it's Lance Lynn because of his "lucky" timing of TJ? While disregarding how injuries have effected Darvish and Cobb and their overall stats and work so far? Whose to say those two seasons Cobb missed were going to be stellar? I don't get it.....to each their own i guess. Like i said earlier, i'd like to have Darvish but if not, Lynn would still be a good signing to walk away with this off-season.
