  1. At least they (Twins FO) tried to play the part, doesn't help there overall situation though.
  2. He wants to play on the west coast, likely either the Mariners or Giants. "Ohtani also added that he would be excited if he were on a team on the West Coast in a smaller market." according to Ben Weinrib / MLB.com Yankees definitely out as his representatives informed Yankees execs. that they will not be invited to make a presentation. "A source told MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand that the Twins also had been eliminated from contention to sign Ohtani." according to Ben Weinrib / MLB.com damn...
  3. Exactly. Wow. I strongly diagree with this statement. Kinda insulting actually. If you mean mega cities then yeah, NY, Chitown, DC, LA, etc. are big, but there are a lot of smaller mid sized cities in the USA that people from outside this country would die to come live in and this coming from someone that is well traveled.
  4. Don't worry the Twins will do what they always do. Talk the good talk and then sign Lackey and or Colon for another season and walk away calling the offseason successful, LOL. You wait.
  5. Until the Twins find a starter(s) that can consistently compete with the Yankees i will continue to hold my position on this. I am not satisfied with the status quo as it's been failing us since 2002. Now the offense did their part in that game, but our two best starters utterly failed. I am not satisfied period. The Twins lost the season series 4 games to 2. including all three in NY. NY has a .730 winning percentage against Minnesota since 2002 which is mind numbing and soul crushing as a fan and it needs to end. If those two can't do it than find two others that can. Twins pitchers have a combined collective 5.09 era against the Yankees dating all the way back to 2002 and have surrendered over 120 home runs in that stretch. That is atrocious and completely unacceptable!
  6. Sure you do. And they didn't just lose they got their asses handed to them in that game. Sorry.
  7. yes. The pitch actually did very little damage to his eye, but the glaucoma which had gone un-diagnosed for so long came back to bite him big time. Once the damage is done it's irreversible. That's why it's imperative that you get your eyes check often because it can be prevented.
  8. Accept both he and Berrios can't beat the Yankees as evidence this year in the WC game.
  9. This is probably the most practical option unless someone blows your socks off with a killer offer for him.
  10. I would think you would have to attach some conditions to this. If the guy can't flat out hit MLB pitching they have to have some sort of cutoff. Sorry we can't have a black hole in the order that puts the team at a disadvantage against all AL teams.
  11. I disagree, an older playoff competing team could trade for him to solidify the back end or middle of their rotation. I could see a deal where the Twins get back a promising AA prospect and a less developed pitching prospect from a lower level. Downside is that it would make them (Twins) less competitive in the short term. We have Santana for two years at a team friendly contract but he's already 34. At the conclusion of his deal he's likely declining at age 36/37 which won't help Sano, Buxton, Rosario, Kepler in the years that follow unless the Twins feel he's worth resigning and still has some gas left. If the Twins don't trade for a top of the rotation starter or sign a significant free agent pitcher or two i think they should consider making him available for the right price.
  12. If it's Archer i could see it being Rosario, Gordon, Romero and one lesser pitching prospect such as Littell or Gonsalves. I'd could also see a deal involving Dozier (they could use an established 2nd baseman). As everyone knows it will take A LOT to pry Archer away from the Rays if they are even considering it.
  13. I'd prefer to keep Gordon unless the team signs Dozier to an extension bridging the gap to Lewis and some of the other shortstop prospects.
  14. One can only hope. They have a lot riding on Leach and Enlow but it will be several seasons before they know what these guys will end up being. Cautiously optimistic.
  15. I probably would have protected Reed, Stewart and Jay for one more year.
  16. I'm quite surprised Jake Reed wasn't protected. He had a good year at AAA last season.
  17. I agree. They were trying to ram a square peg into a round hole saying they were going to convert him back into a starter. Should have gone with a college bat here. Still disappointed though that the Twins gave up on him so quickly as a starter.
  18. He can't get anybody out in AA that's not good. This pick and the Tyler Jay pick sting A LOT.
  19. "Why? Because you say so? Personally i see no problem talking about this. It's not like anyone is attacking him personally or "ripping on him". I think everyone here wants to see him maximize his potential and avoid these injuries. I think many here realize there is a real concern about his weight, yet some here vehemently disagree and feel that they need to squash the discussion which i don't get. I applaud Jack Morris for being the only one who stood up and had the courage to tell the truth. The FO and most of the press seemed to have locked arms last spring concealing and denying his actual weight, which was around 280 bs. (not 255-260). Jack received a lot of flak for this, but he was correct. When i look at Sano I think of Kent Herbek and where his career might have gone if he had been more disciplined with his weight. Perhaps not much of a difference, but you never know.
  20. I'm not suggesting "if he eats less, his neck will regress to a normal size". That's all you. As a big guy myself 220+lbs and 6'-5" I know with some certainty that you have to eat quite a bit to maintain your bulk (assuming your not a beanpole). What I AM saying is that he HAS TO eat a lot to maintain his curtain weight and muscle mass compared to the "rest of us" as you put it. If he significantly reduces his calorie intake and runs a deficit he WILL loose weight and muscle mass eventually. I think we all want him to hit dingers but i'd rather he be lighter which will extend his career and help reduce injuries / wear and tear. Not a difficult concept to understand.
  21. Someone of his size and muscle mass HAS TO HAVE a high calorie intake to keep that going otherwise his body will start breaking down accumulated muscle and fat to compensate for the lower calorie intake. This is why starvation diets are so bad for you. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he over indulges in high calorie meals based on what we've seen and heard. The key is for him to find the right balance moving forward. I for one would like to see him drop 30 pounds and slim down to a more lean figure. It will help him fight of injuries and extend his career. I think this next spring recovering from that surgery will give us a big clue as to what his makeup is. If he comes in at a decent weight, i'd be okay with that, but if he gains a lot that's not a good sign long term IMO.
  22. I don't know. I still think the Garcia trade has a good possibility of being a solid move by Falvey. Both Zach Littell and Dietrich Enns are solid prospects that are close to major league ready. The Kintzler trade to me is the head scatcher. I'm not sure why the Twins continue to deal with the Nationals.
  23. And they might get one back via free agency in Kintzler.
  24. Yep. Exposed the teams biggest weakness (lack of a top of the rotation caliper starter). Santana is a good pitcher but not ace caliper and never has been. Berrios might get there eventually but the jury is still out.
  25. I'd barf all over my keyboard if they gave up Gonsalves, Kiriloff and Rooker for Iglesias. If your gonna give up multiple top 100 prospects like that go after a top of the rotation starter instead, anything else....NOPE
