  1. Or Joe Mauer. Florida is his home away from home. When he's not playing baseball he doesn't live in Minnesota.
  2. i think there is like zero chance that happens although i would be thrilled if it did.
  3. I cringe to think that the Twins settled for Rodney as their target reliever although I do understand why they did it. It's unfortunate that they didn't make an offer to Kintzler or were able to sign Cishek.
  4. I think he ends up with the Mariners but I hope your right. Looks like the Yankees might get Cole. Twins should have pulled the trigger if Pittsburgh asked for Gordon, Jay and Granite. That can't be a true rumor right?
  5. Well....looks like the Yankees might get Cole.
  6. Chuckles. I'll believe it when i see it.
  7. I'm okay with not extending Dozier or Mauer if the FO feels money might becomes an issue a few years down the road when Rosario, Sano and Buxton approach free agency, especially if that means we get Darvish or Lynn instead.
  8. it's a gamble no doubt, but he is the kind of pitcher that can beat the Yankees because well he's a former Yankee!
  9. I guess i should clarify. I like the move sort of. I just wish there was an option year included to benefit the Twins potentially. Seems like the Twins are taking all the risk here.
  10. I would hope early to mid May. He's had over a year rehabbing.
  11. My thoughts exactly. Basically he rehabs in Minnesota in 2018 and rebuilds his value (potentially) in 2019 and then departs as a free agent for his next big contract that following off-season. The long term benefit is not there. I guess when you are absolutely desperate for pitching help and can't attract talent you have to resort to these kinds of measures. Perhaps the FO is seeing him as a stop gap measure. By 2019 Thorpe and Romero should be joining the rotation (assuming they stay on track and aren't traded). Hope this isn't the only move the Twins make. Mlbtraderumos has stated that the Twins have been in contact with Colon's agent which is depressing if that's all they can muster.
  12. Good. At least a dialogue is happening. Likely leads to nothing but perhaps there is hope that something comes to fruition based on past relationships.
  13. Too bad they couldn't have snuck in an option year for 2020. Basically we get him for one year because he's likely spending almost all of 2018 rehabbing.
  14. People need to slow down on the Gonsalves train. The guy might end up being good, but he's only pitched 22 innings in AAA so far.
  15. I like that he is consistent with his control something a lot young pitchers seem to lack. If he can build on his AAA success and transfer that to the majors he's a good asset to have especially for a fifth round pick.
  16. I think he's going to get some looks in 2018 by default especially if Falvey and Levine fail to acquire starters. Sure he doesn't feature a sexy high velocity FB with movement but he did manage to go 15-4 in 148 innings in AAA last season and certainly looked head and shoulders better than Turley or Hurlbut. We keep hearing that Gonsalves is just about ready and he might end up competing for an opening day job, but he's only pitched 22 innings in Rochester so far and i gotta imagine he'll spend a significant portion of the season there unless he hits the ground running in Minnesota. Nik Turley is gone from the organization and Jason Wheeler and David Hurlbut aren't major league starting material. So really the ranks of AAA ready starters are thin until Gonsalves gets a little more seasoning and guys like Enns and Littell are promoted from Chattanooga. Santana Berrios Gibson Meija ? (maybe they should sign Colon again until one of the kids is ready to take the #5 spot)
  17. and there wasn't a chance in hell that he would ever sign with Minnesota and there never was. It was a dream nothing more. I just hope this FO lands something (lynn or cobb) this offseason and one quality reliever (Kintzler?). That will help tremendously. Anything else on top of that would be gravy and un-Twins like.
  18. Exactly. There are so many teams starving for quality pitching i have a hard time believing that the Twins are going to win any bidding wars on Darvish, Arrieta, Lynn or Cobb. Maybe one of the latter two, but why would any of them want to go to Minnesota in the first place? I mean that's what the media always says. Who the heck wants to go to the Twin Cities where it's winter 9 months out of the year and gets dark at 3 o'clock in the afternoon when daylight savings time ends. Anyhow all kidding and sarcasm aside let say they sign Lynn that leaves them with a rotation of Santana Lynn (a good pickup) Berrios Gibson (he's been tendered but on thin ice) and a whole assortment of potential options for #5. Gonsalves Sledgers Jorge May Romero (soon) Littell (soon) That's not a bad rotation to enter the season with and certainly playoff competitive.
  19. I would be surprised if Littell and Romero both go back to AA.
  20. If they could get him for 4 years 48 million somewhere in that range i'd be for it. Not an ace but certainly a quality arm that is more dynamic than Gibson.
  21. So Falvey and Levine what's plan B and C, Ohtani is out, not that he was ever realistically in with this franchise.
