    Fine lets just do away with the luxury tax and let the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Giants, Dodgers, Phillies spend whatever they want and get all the premier free agents and leave the bottom half of the league as AAAA farm teams for the top 8-10 franchises. That's how it was before any of this started. I'm fine with that. Is everyone else okay with that?

    Jim Bowden Several teams remain in on Cobb or Lynn including: Orioles, Phillies, Twins and Brewers but all are waiting for 3-Year deals under $50m so they don’t have to give up draft pick compensation according to sources...asking price remains above for now

    What if they've decided its time for a rebuild based on what they have in terms of prospects, existing players, contracts, etc. Who are we to tell them they can't do that for the betterment of their franchise? It's like saying the Twins shouldn't be allowed to rebuild after consecutive losing 90-100 lose season and have to continue to hand out big contracts and spend money on old / bad players with no talent. Makes no sense.

    Who says the Rays and Marlins are making "tons of money"? Both are at the bottom of major leagues in terms of revenue and attendance.

    Comeon.....He's 6'-4" not 6'-7" or 6'-9". At 290+ he's over weight no ifs ands or butts. Simple as that.

    AT what point does mobility become a problem. The Twins may be forced to move him to DH far sooner than even they imagined. I mean honestly if this is true and he's upwards of 290 (basically where he was at when he went down with that injury) he's now approaching the average size of an NFL tackle, guard or center at 312 lbs. Too big.

    So essentially he's a few pounds heavier than 2017 when he reported to camp at 280 as Jack Morris correctly stated and everyone else hammered as utter rubbish and nonsense. "oh he's only 263" Do the Twins still want to hand out a 10 year 200+ million plus contract in a couple of years to this guy? Obviously weight is going to be a problem long term for him. You would think that an injury such as the one he just suffered would refocus his mind on conditioning, but apparently not. What a shame. Trade him for pitching. How bout a 1 for 1 Sano for Archer.

    I'm just going on a gut feeling but i still feel they are looking for one more starter from the remaining free agents as well as keeping an eye on Archer. If Kepler is the center piece of a deal to acquire him, i'd be working hard to make that happen assuming Tampa is open to trading him.

    I agree. Sign Lynn. He'll be expensive but signing him would make this team a division contender. A rotation of Santana, Lynn, Berrios, Odorizzi and Gibson / one of the many 5th rotation options is a strong starting five.

    I agree the missing piece is an ace. Acquiring Odorizzi is a nice step, but I still hope they get Archer at some point. I really think the Twins have the pieces to get such a deal done and they can also offer to take on Span's contract which is even more incentive to the Rays. This could still happen. I guess the question is how motivated are the Rays to dropping payroll?

    I disagree i think the Twins VERY MUCH needed a middle of the rotation arm after Santana went down. I know everyone wants an ace including me but this is a good acquisition. I don't want all of the weight on Berrio's shoulders right away and Gibson is far too erractic to count on for an entire season yet. Yes, this is a good acquisition in my eyes.

    I agree Enns and Slegers should get innings. I also read the Twins plan on stretching Duffey out. So how does the rotation fill out to start the year? Berrios Gibson Meija Sanchez Hughes / Slegers / Enns / Duffey Yuck!

    I'm absolutely speechless with this move. I mean there HAS TO BE better options that Falvey and Levine can fall back on. Do Cobb, Lynn, Tillman, Garcia ALL not want to pitch in Minnesota? This is depressing beyond belief. I just read too that the Twins are stretching Duffey back out to compete for a starting rotation spot. In my opinion if these are the moves they are now settling on they are pretty much done for this offseason. I'll give them credit on the bullpen acquisitions but the starting pitching hunt has been a total let down and utter disaster.

    Well if the Twins don't add Cobb or Lynn and don't trade for a starter i gotta imagine they'll roll with Berrios leading the rotation followed by Gibson, Meija, Slegers and Enns. It also depends on Hughes status. If he's healthy i think the Twins give him every opportunity to start regardless of results the first couple of weeks because they are short experienced starters. The way i see it 2019 is likely a lost season now that Santana is down the first two months unless they add a quality starter to the rotation or someone else takes a major step forward besides Berrios. The improved bullpen will certainly help but it likely won't be enough. The way i see it let's give the youngsters their chance to step forward and shine. I'm also not opposed to reaching down deep to Chattanooga depending on where Littell and Romero start. Heck Thorpe might get a look later in the season if he pitches well this year.

    It's a bit early for that, is it not? I mean Romero has never pitched in AAA and Gonsalves has what 22 innings in AAA ball. I think at the very least Gonsalves pitches at least half the season in Rochester and the same for Romero assuming he starts in AAA. Look for that #4 spot I think it comes down to Hughes, Slegers and Enns to start the season. And to be honest I got a pretty good vibe from Slegers and Enns last season. Slegers with not overpower you but the kid can pitch and he has a healthy arm compared to Hughes who has broken down several years in a row.

    I'm impressed at what he can do at 18 no doubt. My only concern is that once he reaches the upper minors and majors he will essentially be a one trick pony like Duffey. Bert dominated for many years because he could vary the spin on his curve keeping it in strike territory or drop out of the zone keeping hitters off balance. It's kinda like adjusting the spin on your bowling ball to control the amount of hook depending on oil lane conditions. Not every pitcher has that finesse control of their out pitch. Duffey is a perfect example and that's why he's failed as a starter IMO (besides his average fastball). Hopefully Enlow can develop a third pitch changeup.

    I'm impressed but he almost reminds me of Duffey. Guy has a fantastic curve but that's about it.
