  1. This just came to mind, but with Machado being the crown jewel of the 2019 FA class, could Sano (in terms of controllability) be the backup option to all the teams that miss out on Manny. If so, then I’d say go for it because I’m sick of his underperformance (on multiple levels) and everyone making excuses for him. Look we’ve been spinning our wheels for awhile now, and haven’t gotten any closer to a WS appearance, maybe we should rebuild and follow what the Rays have been doing.
  2. Playoff push or not, if we’re not gonna promote Kirilloff and Lewis (maybe Graterol) then we might as well have them begin 2019 in AAA.
  3. Starter or not, Austin has definitely solidified a roster spot in 2019. And who knows, maybe an Austin/Rooker tandem at 1st might be enough for the FO to abstain from signing veteran competition in the offseason.
  4. My point exactly, I don’t want to overpay someone with no track record. And speaking of teams that would trade for Gibby, I could see the A’s having interest in him, and I sure as h*ll would be quick to make that deal if it meant getting Frankie Montas and a B prospect in return.
  5. With the way that he’s pitching, I doubt Gibby will accept anything less than a significant raise, let alone a QO. Which is why I personally think we should just trade him, because while I don’t think he’s worth the raise he’s gonna get, I do think he’s vastly worth more than one stinking draft pick.
  6. Wouldn’t hurt to see Buxton leading off, although he’s probably better off batting 9th. How bout Lewis???
  7. Yeah, my bad, the Lynn/Austin deal probably would’ve been the better example. Then again, I could see a “rejuvenated” Sano bringing back an Archer-like return.
  8. “Rebuild” is such a vague and loosely used term, but yes, I do agree to the idea that we shouldn’t rebuild. Although that doesn’t mean we should be against “(re)building towards the immediate future.” The best example I can think of is the Chris Archer deal.
  9. I like that Booze is getting his shot, but Molitor’s usage of him is just straight up abusive.
  10. Trust me, I believe in Gibby’s newfound success just as much as you do, but overpaying to keep him around past 2020 would be a huge and very unnecessary risk. Like it or not, it’s probably for the best that we sell high on someone who”ll likely chase the $$$, and leave MN (via free agency) anyways.
  11. Of course this the “worst case scenario”, but even if the FO trades both Gibson and Sano in the offseason, and doesn’t sign a FA, I still don’t see how we’re not contending for the WC, if not the weak AL Central, in 2019. I mean, there’s just too much “raw talent” on this roster, “raw talent” that “could” be signed to very affordable extensions (Berrios, Rosario, Buxton, Romero, Kepler). In turn, these cost-effective extensions would then set the stage for more extensions (Lewis, Graterol, Kirilloff), along with a couple of huge FA splashes down the road as well. But this is the worst case scenario...
  12. Personally, I could care less if we dealt Gibby and Odorizzi in the offseason, but the reason I ask is because it wouldn’t be all that suprising to see it happen.
  13. Depth is nice, and I really like ours, but is it enough to withstand a Gibson and Odorizzi trade in the offseason???
  14. Atlanta could use an upgrade over utility infielder Ryan Flaherty as well.
  15. Since we can’t really on depend on Reed and Hildy to be anything more than a 6th or 7th inning guy, I honestly hope we just sign Adam Ottavino and David Phelps to carry the bullpen next year.
  16. I actually could see Escobar returning to Arizona, but even if he doesn’t, I really don’t see Falvine bringing Esco back. While don’t think we should be chasing Bryce or Manny, I don’t think we should be bottom feeders when we have a such a historic free agent class right in front of us. As faithful Twins fans, we should expect nothing more, yet nothing less, than Elvis Andrus and Adam Ottavino.
  17. This may be me just me speculating, but if Gibby finishes the season with 200IP/200K, I believe there’ll be an overwhelming amount of pressure to deal him. And it may be too much for Falvine to pass up on.
  18. Assuming he opts out of his contract, I think Elvis Andrus should be our top priority this offseason. If not, J-Hay would be more than serviceable.
  19. Signing Murphy would be good move for a “legit” contending team with core players to back it up, unfortunately the Twins aren’t at that point yet. If I’m being honest with myself, I’d rather we sign Escobar or and Josh Harrison to hold down the fort until Gordon and Lewis establish themselves as major leaguers.
  20. Maybe they passed due to Rodney’s reputation as a pitcher.
  21. Well, Ervin is playing for the Twins, so that could also explain his performance as of late... Also, maybe the M’s passed on Rodney because they’re looking for a middle reliever like Reed, as well as preparing to move Ramirez to the bullpen.
  22. No way should we bring back Forsythe, if anything, he’s a trade candidate as of right now. Besides, I’d rather bring a good veteran leader like Josh Harrison to “bridge the gap” along with being a much needed mentor for Buxton and Gordon (yes, I brought race into this).
  23. Maybe I’m wrong, but I were Dipoto I’d make a trade for Santana, not only because of the name value, but the fact that Seattle needs all the help they can get (it’s called depth). Also, Erv’s health “issue” isn’t, and shouldn’t be, comparable to Erasmo Ramirez’s shoulder woes. Besides, Erv’s finger and performance should only get better with each and every start removed from surgery.
  24. Pleasd FO, just promote Lewis and Kirilloff to AA already!!! Or at least promote Larnach and Jeffers to Fort Myers soon...
  25. I think there just waiting till Erv can go 7 innings, then they’ll flip him to the M’s for a C level prospect.
