  1. Not good for MN? Cleared $3.5M off the books, which could get Suzuki easily and you got a LHP who was rushed in the minors. The Twins will probably start him at AA where he belongs and let him gain some confidence before a promotion.
  2. These new posting rules are absolutely in favor of large market teams. A team like the Yankees might have paid a posting fee of $50-75M just for the right to sign Tanaka. Now they only have to pay $20M so a large market team will simply offer Tanaka $17-20M a season and won't even blink at signing him to a 6 yr deal. How does this new system help a small market team compete with the Yankees & Dodgers to try to get a player now? Maybe a team like Texas could be the front runner if he wants to play with Darvish. This system is completely broken even though it was just agreed upon.
  3. I would bring him back if I could find a team to take Doumit.
  4. Let's pat the Pohlad boys for spending a little after hoarding tons of cash for the last few years. Also, every MLB team just got I believe an additional $25M from the new MLB TV deal so they are just spending what they just got and really need to dig into their own pockets and fix this team ASAP!!!
  5. That is how you get pitchers upset about their contracts and then they demand extensions or be traded.
  6. Never question the Angels about signing a player. They don't leak information like some teams. I think they just came out and gave Torii Hunter an offer without many people knowing and probably the same with Pujols and Hamilton. So if the Angels are not being talked about, they are the team that is getting it down behind closed doors. Also, the Angels have an owner unlike the Twins who will spend money.
  7. So what kind of chance do we see a Matt Garza signing with the Twins? I forgot that the Cubs traded him to Texas so there is no compensation for signing Garza. So the Twins would keep their 2nd round pick. With Arizona and LA Angels better places to play with a lot better chance of winning than Minnesota it would be hard to see him sign here. If you take into thought his injury history and probably some bad blood from playing here I doubt the Twins sign him. I would expect the rumors that the Twins offered only 4 years and he needed that 5th year to sign. So who should be looked at to be the anchor of this staff or are the Twins going to go with what they have now?
  8. This would be a complete waste of money. The Twins are in no position to add a SS now. They would have been better served getting a quality catcher since nobody seems to believe Pinto can handle the job and Doumit no longer wants to catch.
  9. The Pohlad boys is what happened to the Twins. They only want to make more money and don't care to put a decent product on the field.
  10. I am glad the Twins didn't pay Davis that much money. I could have seen a 2yr deal for $6M. not the $9-10M Detroit payed. The Twins would never have used him properly anyways. Every time they have a player with good speed they never take advantage of it.
  11. I am only writing what I heard. 9:46pm: Minnesota is in the mix for Davis, reports Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities. According to Wolfson, the Twins are willing to commit multiple years to Davis, which should make the team a strong suitor for his services.
  12. So would that make an outfield of Davis, Willingham, and Arcia. With Presley being the 4th outfielder with Hicks starting 2104 in Rochester. Or who knows if there is a Willingham trade in the upcoming days.
  13. Just saw that the Twins were supposedly offering Rajai Davis a multi year deal. Not really sure how this will affect the 2014 outfield if he signs.
  14. So Hendricks is the first with at least a few more to follow. Albers, Colabello, Parmelle and Mastroianni should be ready to see their names show up soon. Parmelle would be the only one that may not clear waivers. Colabello should be sold to a team in Japan, that would be the best thing that could happen to his career. He would probably get $1-2M to play in Japan.
  15. Someone please remind Keith Law how tall Pedro Martinez was. He was one of the most dominate pitchers of his era.
  16. Berrios 6 ft Tim Lincecom 5 11
  17. I thought the Twins paid a posting on Nishi and his deal was not for 6 years.
  18. I know they have not finalized any deal yet. The question I would answered is how many years must a player sign a contract for? If it would go worst team (Houston) a pitcher like Tanaka if forced to sign with the winning bid what would stop the player from saying "fine I will be an Astro but I will only sign a 1yr deal and become a free agent. Then the player could go to NY or LA where they want to be and get a huge deal. They should also make it if let's say Houston posted $20M and won the rights to sign Tanaka they should have to surrender their 1st round pick in the up coming draft. So every team would move up 1 slot in the draft.
  19. Justin Morneau signed a 2yr/$13M with the Rockies. Looks like Cuddy will have a new teammate.
  20. I thought it would be the Joe Mauer contract.
  21. Has any team ever gotten the better end of a trade with Oakland? A Brett Anderson trade would make people forget about the Garza/Young trade quick. 2 rules to live by in life 1. Never play with fire, you will get burned. 2. Never make a trade with Billy Beane, you will also get burned...
  22. Japan would be a pefect place for him to play. He could mash his 35-50 hr's and get paid decent money.
  23. Why all the Brett Anderson talk? 2yr/$20M for a guy with injury history? I did forget to add that you would have to give up some quality prospects to boot. Since Kasmir is gone I would throw a 2yr/$25M offer at Colon and hope he at least thinks about.
  24. My thoughts exactly!
