  1. I'm not in favor of trading Ryan. But I'd want one high end pitcher, one high end hitter, and two more good prospects back. The high end hitter would need to be in AA or AAA and ready next year. They'd be foolish to deal him now, at least wait until the off-season when there are more bidders. even then......
  2. If they don't sell expiring deals this year......
  3. Agree on that last part for sure.
  4. Mettelus signed a three year extension.
  5. No way I'm trading either. They're basically free and likely get better. I guess if you can get a hitter with five years of control who is already good? But who is doing that trade on the other side? I don't know who is better!
  6. They probably get one 40 value guy? I'd go for a pitcher with only two pitches and make him a RP.
  7. All my potatoes just died. They looked so healthy.... But there's nothing in the ground as far as I can tell. Oh well. Maybe I'll plant beets or beans. My hesitation is the two week trip to Minnesota in September.....
  8. And Gonzalez. Heck, why not push Sabato now and see. There have a tiny window with this staff, and are just doing their normal thing, which has never worked.
  9. WEll, Lee was drafted 1:5, so lots of guys I'd guess (if Lee can't hit). And, it isn't a crapshoot if you mean random.
  10. Hey, I agree....but they aren't giving up on Lewis, CC, Jeffers or Buxton. And they aren't getting rid of both corner OFers, not their style. So, IMO, it will be a challenge.
  11. It's so hard. Lewis, CC, Buxton, Jeffers are here for sure next year. That's 4 of 8 fielders. Then you have Keaschell somewhere if healthy. Martin for Castro. One of Larnach or Wallner ( I can't see them moving on from both, but they both could be back because DEPTH). You really only need a 2B (Lee, Keaschell, ?) and 1B (Keaschell, Lewis, ?) and one corner OF. It is hard to fix if Lewis, Buxton, CC, Jeffers, Wallner don't hit and aren't healthy......
  12. I mean, if they tank next year what do you do? At some point, you have to play your guys. This is a lost year, if not now, when? 100% Martin and Keaschell are up again this year, most likely after the deadline. Sabato and Gonzalez? probably not by this FO....but by me? Yes.
  13. Also, this idea that if CC hits 4th or 5th matters to him as a hitter seems really odd to me. They are all going up there trying to get a hit. Also, so many injuries, and bad players and platoon guys....why would anyone want a consistent lineup given this roster and last year's? I just don't get this obsession so many here have. Do we really think if Lewis wakes up and he's batting 4th or 6th he groans and decides he isn't happy and can't play well?
  14. Ballesteros is a great get. That would be very good. Jonah Tong or Nolan McLean of the Mets. I don't think Painter is realistic! But that would be an A+.
  15. Definitely in waves! Almost always spoofing a 952 area code, which is a dead give away now that I live in OR.....
  16. Martin should be here now, over Kiersey or Castro when traded. Anyone over France. could be you for all I care (I'd put Keaschell there right now and for the rest of the year). I'd also consider Sabato and just see if he actually figured it out this year (aka, Rooker). Bader? I guess Martin, but I'd consider Gonzalez. Get his feet wet for next year, so he's not a rookie next year. The RPs? I'd probably put some random SP from the minors in there that isn't one of the top 4-6 guys in the minors that might be starters.
  17. Or they made a simple mistake? Or they don't agree they can get two for one RP (since no else has in the last decade)? I doubt it is as you rudely say that they can't read....
  18. great points! I generally agree, btw, that they should concentrate on the expiring deals. More likely do the others only if others call them first......there are more bidders for all the players they control in the off season anyway....
  19. I'm going to guess here.....and maybe when gleeman and the geek talked to levine they heard this, but I'm guessing every single player on every single team (majors and minors) is in a database the TWins have, and they aren't "looking at hte players" other than maybe having some scouts eyeball them a bit. I just think, and I could be wrong, they already know everything there is to publicly know about every player out there for the most part.
