    And I thought I was rough on this team...... I don't see how you think they can possibly compete next year either, frankly, since there are no catchers or SS available in FA, and they aren't signing an ACE.

    And if Buxton is hurt again next year, then what? So if no one looks like that top pitcher next year either, then what? that third one is fixable, and yet, they haven't really tried any internal options at all. I don't think they are awesome either, but I think throwing away the banked wins this year is like throwing away a 5-10 WAR player starting next year.....

    Agreed....what would convince you otherwise? If Sano and Buxton were both here and healthy?

    It is a bad trade to trade a legit prospect for a bad RP, that isn't hindsight.

    what veterans are they trading for good, MLB ready, players? Or, are they trading for more prospects, meaning 2017 or later?

    how do you propose they get that ace if you won't over pay for one in FA or trade? Because there isn't one in the pipeline at all right now.

    given that take, no way they go for Tulo. He's not a "move the runner over, steal bases, look good not making any plays" SS that they seem to like so much here.....didn't think of that until these last few posts about Hardy....

    You said this: "Unless you are the Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers you make the big trade or FA signing to try to put a strong team over the top, not to try to re-work a borderline team" now you disagree, and it is ok to trade / sign a FA, even if they aren't 1 player from going over the top? If so, why wait, why not do it now (if that player is around for 2-3 more years)?

    But that's not what I or anyone is asking them to do, so it's not a good example of what is being discussed here. It's an example of a bad trade, going for it or not. I can give all kinds or examples of good and bad trades, but since no one is asking for this kind of trade, it is not a real good rebuttal, imo.

    Not one place have I said trade a legit prospect for a replacement level RP......no where on this entire board, ever.

    Except I don't think Santana is good next year, or the year after or ever.....he's meh at best.

    I guess it is tough....if you only trade when you are sure you are winning a division, you are mostly never going to make trades to actually get better.....so at some point, you need to make a call. If they don't try to fix SS, C, RP, they should be sellers, imo. What they should not do, is sit still, imo.

    Those last two were not aimed at you, my bad communication there......but there a lot of posts on this site that are appeals to authority, that we shouldn't question the experts. You've seen them. They are really prevalent when the team is winning..... I thought you did say that about May, my bad. I don't get what they are doing with May at all, not even 1 bit.

    Mostly disagree....they have banked these wins. Casting them aside, on the hope that next year will be better......that's how you pretty much never win. Because next year you do the same thing....and then next year again. At some point, you try to win. If they are supposed to stand still this year, what's different next year that makes you think they'll be looking at this many wins at the ASB?

    I wasn't trying to imply that, but thanks, you are correct on that. And I don't think Brock agrees with the May decision any more than I do.

    If it isn't a trade....at least bench Santana. And, it is fair you don't have a full list, I don't either. I think you are underselling Tulo, but it is debatable for sure.

    didn't you say that about the ASB or so also? so, 6 more weeks of their 2nd best pitcher sitting on the sidelines and doing nothing? But, ya, they are w/o a flaw in leadership/FO/manager....
