  1. thoughts from Fangraphs' scouts on Rosario: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/standout-prospects-from-the-afl-title-game/ Not glowing....but not bad....
  2. They didn't have any corner OF because they signed Kubel instead of an actual OF.......it's a self fulfilling prophecy. That was the point, they take up roster space.
  3. I think we are all dreaming if we think any of Rosario, Sano, Buxton start the year in MN. I think it is likely Meyer is in the minors. I think Burdi is in the minors. Frankly, I don't see a lot of help from the minors the first 2 months of the year, unless Meyer is up.....
  4. Sano will start in the minors, that's been clearly stated by TR, I believe* *unless I remember wrong, which is possible.
  5. Sano and Buxton might not be ready this year.......what do you do in LF and CF until 2016?
  6. I pretty much hate all the options to fix the OF right now. Good luck to TR on fixing even one of the positions this year. This is, of course, why I believe you don't wait until the "perfect" time to sign a FA, because there might not be one there in the future that helps you.....when you have money and need, and there is a FA, sign him.
  7. The even bigger problem is when you rely on multiple players like him to be a starter.....
  8. I think it is news he can't even hit in that league....not sure getting cut is, but not hitting? Ugh.
  9. ignore my comment on Sano.....TR is quoted on BA saying he's a 3B. good news, imo.
  10. didn't TR mention it as a possibility this year? Maybe I dreamed that.....
  11. Miguel Sano should be on this list, IMO......as a possible RF some day. AAA and the majors are black hole largely, and AA has a guy that hasn't played in a year, and a guy that they tried to make a 2B that has/had drug issues. I hope they sign a FA, just in case......
  12. Maybe I should have put the humor tag on that one......
  13. Love, Love this article. Too bad Steil doesn't have access to the same information as you.
  14. Isn't that the natural cycle you always post about? How could the Tigers have a good farm system if they are drafting late all the time lately? And, isn't your argument that is only sustainable for about 10 years or so doing it the Twins way? How many years will the Tigers be good/great, then bad, then good/great again? Isn't the cycle about the same?
  15. Last in the AL (all non-CO MLB?) in SP.....and people want to stand pat. Unless they are calling up Meyer day 1, they better bring in some help.
  16. Hughes did not just move out of Yankee stadium. Other things were "fixed".
  17. I'll take the bet Nolasco makes 30+ starts and has an ERA under 4.3. I'll take the No side.
  18. Except people aren't saying opinions, they are saying factual stuff, like "he never asks to play". You have been clear here that it is your opinion, but others are clearly stating "facts" that are not so. I'll just let it drop. we have no idea.
  19. Well, Pefrey hasn't been healthy for most of his career, so he fails your test.....
  20. 1. Every team has contracts tied up in ST assets, it's how time works. 2. I'm not sure why trading for a 1 year guy is better than signing a 1 year guy. That seems 100% backward, unless you are going all in, or getting rid of a guy you don't want. 3. The Dodgers are not trading for Nolasco, not even to fee up money. 4. Brandon McCarthy, or trade for one of the Reds pitchers if you can get a deal worked out ahead of time. 5. Random other guy (assuming they won't go for one of the big 3/4) that wants a 1 year deal. 6. Big trade for a minor leaguer, but I just don't see it happening.
  21. I'd argue those saying he isn't tough have no idea. They aren't in the locker, they aren't trainers, they don't know if he's asked to stay in games. But, they are certain he's just not tough. I'd guess he's tougher than most here are giving him credit for, but I don't know that.....and I have no faith that Souhan is a reporter. That's not his job.
  22. I'd prefer more likely to be good over offers flexibility.....but I'd prefer flexibility over signing likely to be bad for 3 years.....so I guess this list is ok for second best option. Maybe someday we'll have reason to believe they take the first, best option. There are a lot of questions about Meyer, I'd prefer they work hard to get those answered this year, so they have a better plan.....but I suspect he'll be in AAA, and they'll sign a guy like this and sign Hunter. And the OF defense will continue to be the worst in baseball, and whomever they sign will give up more OF hits (or XB) than they should.
  23. Having broken my leg 16 months ago, I can say the pain varies a ton. Some days I feel none, others I can hardly walk at all. I felt no pain after the first two surgeries, the third was a bear.......I've watched my son be totally stoic with a broken wrist, and almost cry with a mild sprain....
  24. As long as I keep getting older....and can still hike, ski, bike, golf, whatever....I'm willing to get more cootier, as it were.
  25. So it is Vargas that is a future HoF? Ok, I'll buy you dinner if he's a HoF. Or am I still missing the point about not trading a possible HoF for a second time? I admit it, I'm confused right now. Maybe I should go back to bed, and just not work today. On the topic.........I don't think we know with any certainty at all that Esco has a significantly better glove than Santana. And no, he's not close to Gagne. Not. Close.
