  1. Except last year's stats and this year's disagree that he is AAAA, no matter how often you say it.
  2. Hicks is terrible with the bat, of course Buxton should be better than that.
  3. Re:streaky players....if at the end of the year you have good year long stats, are you less valuable if those came in streaks of great for 3 weeks and bad for 3 weeks than a guy that was good most weeks, but rarely in a great streak? Do we know he is really streaky, and we aren't using arbitrary dates?
  4. My apologies. Yes, Plouffe is struggling. And, I did read it, I thought you were just commenting on part of it (and including Mauer threw me off, I admit it). I will be bummed if Plouffe reverts, he seems like a guy that had figured it out.
  5. I thought this was a post about the lack of hitting in the meat of the order.......isn't Mauer part of that (along with Plouffe and others)? I stand by my contention, the issues stem from the roster makeup, and not really having more than 2 legit MLB hitters right now that people can count on, maybe three. Dozier, Hunter, Plouffe are it, relative to the other players at their positions. That's it. This isn't, imo, about Plouffe's slump, it is about the roster.
  6. The issue for the middle of the order isn't one player.......but yes, Plouffe has struggled. Mauer is a major issue for this team, like, going to really hurt them for years. They have chosen to carry 13 pitchers, and love Escobar for some reason. To me, those and Mauer are the real issues here. The odd roster construction and Mauer's current skill set are the real issues.
  7. I would put him in FM as a reliever. If he is great for a month, promote him to AA. Probably shut him down after another month or so. Next year, send him to either CR or FM as a starter, probably CR.
  8. I like the high upside HS hitters and Jay picks. I am less certain of the tall pitcher......
  9. Wasn't Bard hurt before he was drafted? I think another guy was too, but I am sort of paying attn. to this work meeting.
  10. Fair enough. I'll stop. I don' think this last guy is ABW, ABW is pretty athletic, isn't he?
  11. I'd like the strategy more if the FO would follow up on that, and actually use their AAA and AA RP in the majors, but they want veterans, so I don't get the strategy all that much. And, none of them have made the majors yet. For the person talking about the "complaining" (I prefer discussion), we are talking about a three year trend, not 1 pick.
  12. none of those were college RP, right? We aren't arguing a point we aren't making......
  13. When one of these guys works out, for multiple years at the MLB level, there will be evidence that they should have the benefit of the doubt. And, I don't think they are top 3 because of the picks of RP, do you?. But like I said, they are either genius, or really wrong. I don't know which yet.
  14. If you are going to keep drafting college RP, when other teams don't as often.....you are either a genius or not all that bright.
  15. if your strategy is to not buy a championship, you have to be better, or your strategy won't work. This isn't some "lesson" we have to learn. How condescending. It's just a weird coincidence that some teams haven't lost 90+ games even 1 time in the last 10+ years? We disagree on this, but at least I don't make condescending remarks about it.
  16. Tall pitchers make me nervous........hopefully they find some secret to unlock here.
  17. So basically don't question a pick? They have been terrible at developing pitchers.....of their starters ONE is a guy they drafted. I think skepticism has some warrant. I like Jay. The next pick? They have broken Meyer.......Bonnes did a study, almost no tall pitchers have worked out in all the majors.
  18. I share your skepticism that we see this guy any time soon.
  19. A reliever.......not sure how to feel about that. Good luck to them, they have exactly one SP in the rotation they drafted......so let's hope something has changed.
  20. If they are in the playoffs, they better not trade him unless they already got a better pitcher added somehow........so no, I can't believe they'd repeat the mistake of dealing while they are in the race, and getting worse......I just can't believe they'd do that again. And yes, I think there is a decent shot they sign him again.....and Hunter......
