  1. I'd ask Mauer to consider early retirement and a settlement. He'll never be worth that contract at this point, imo. I'd keep Plouffe, and keep him at 3B. He's good at his job. No idea why you deal a youngish, good, player. Sano could still be a year or more away (though I doubt it). I'd consider moving Sano to RF or 1B. If they are in contention, I'd call him up to DH after the ASB, assuming he is hitting. I do think he should be getting reps at 1B and RF in AA, but they aren't doing that. That, to me, indicates they either plan to do something with Plouffe, or just are not planning well, again.... Kepler, imo, is your RF or 1B, assuming he works out, in the future (again, another reason to try to get Mauer to consider retirement). Then you have Vargas and Arcia, neither of whom should probably be in the field. Really, given Mauer's cost and production........... But, bottom line, I have no idea why anyone wants to move Plouffe this year at all. He's youngish, and good.
  2. Or, maybe, he just doesn't have good control. Wouldn't be the first person to have that issue. For those saying he should stay a starter, how much longer would you continue the experiment, before trying the bullpen?
  3. Unfortunately, as thin as the Twins' list is.......this draft might be thinner. I have zero confidence that anyone in the minors will be both an average hitter and defender, right now.
  4. Keep him in AAA until you decide one of the other number 4/5 guys isn't there.....and move that guy to the bullpen. But I agree with the watcher of birds........I'm not sure it matters if it is Milone, Pelfrey, or Nolasco (it might matter if it is May, since he is 25) as your number 4/5 guy. The bullpen does need help, of all the options, moving him to the bullpen where he can pick up 2-3 MPH.....and DFAing Deunsing makes sense to me, if you think they are winners this year.
  5. Funny, I thought you were saying it would take the long for all the OFers to get here....... No idea what Mauer is doing 2 years......early retirement?
  6. Not Cameron, please. If he can't hit where he is......
  7. I've been predicting 1B for years...... Buxton, Rosario, Arcia, Hicks, Sano (maybe), ABIII, all have a chance to be in the OF. He reminds me of Morneau.
  8. I don't know.....we had an article on Mauer's new approach showing how much better he was (hasn't been), and Hicks new approach fixing his game (hasn't)......I think we can not make a conclusion about Rosario just yet. Me? I'd let him play all year in LF, and see what you got, they used to do that around here (mid and late 80s, leading to WS).
  9. So, the beer is better......interesting. Unless something changed recently at TF, the craft beer scene there is mostly in bottles, mostly. I remember interviewing for a job in Detroit, and they didn't want me to walk 2 blocks due to the danger. That pretty much sealed the deal for me not going there. I do know a couple people that live there, and they really like it. But even they admit it can be intimidating.
  10. We don't know how good Turner is compared to all the other minor league catchers, do we? Hard to feel great, imo, about a 23 year old that has not yet hit low A pitching (or mid A or whatever you want to call it). Gonsalves has been very good, I agree, he'll be up to Ft. Meyers soon. I am really interested to see what happens with Kepler and Walker, they both have something that others don't really have (Walker, power, Kepler is just all around very good, potentially, and all around is rare).
  11. One time, and I posted about 10 times that my opinion was based on his career, and I pointed out about 10 times that my opinion was NOT based on this year, that this year was confirming my opinion. Why are we bringing this to this thread? I simply asked if it was too early to come to conclusions based on this much data.........you assumed it was about the other thread. But, when I read KLAW and every fangraphs writer, and most every thread here, we all agree it is still SSS time. Maybe, it was about that, and not some evil thought on my side.
  12. The meme that Arcia and Vargas are future David Ortiz.....I'm tired of that meme. We just don't know that at all. Hicks SHOULD be a good fielder, but he has not shown that at all in his first 2 stints. I don't know why people keep typing that he is/will be for sure.
  13. I thought it was too early to look at stats and draw conclusions. I don't trust Nolasco or Pelfrey at all. I trust Gibson and Hughes to be good. I am unsure on May.
  14. Why can't we be happy they are both good? Why do people feel compelled to compare them all the time?
  15. Oliveros is the obvious answer of who SHOULD be up, imo.......but I am betting it is not him.
  16. Wait, don't send down Schafer because the Twins are winning? That is a very bad logical fallacy. Schafer has done nothing to show he belongs on a MLB roster, nothing at all. All these SSS stats about him and Robinson are highly amusing, given how people are posting on the Suzuki thread.....
  17. Don't forget, there is smallest chance Sano is your RF some day.....but I don't see it right now. I am waffling on my stance, I think THEY will wait at least 2 more weeks, but I think I'd just do it now.
  18. Also, the world has changed......people probably need to adjust their thinking on HOW MUCH* a corner OF needs to hit to be even average now. *as in, Hicks isn't there yet, but it's probably not as big a number as you have in your head
  19. All the people saying "wait"......IF he keeps this up, how long would you wait? 2 weeks? 6 weeks? More?
  20. I predict 2-3 more weeks of success is needed before he is up.
  21. My hair is actually quite short right now, thank you very much.
